It contains the original tracks plus four bonus tracks. Love Letters / Imagine Me, Imagine You / The Juggler / Patient Tigers / Only You Can / The More / Spirit / He's Got Magic / Pisces' Babies / Love Ship / Red Letter Day / Out Of My Body (bonus) / If I Point At The Moon (bonus) / Georgina Bailey (bonus) / Pretty Boy (bonus) At the time of first writing (10th October 1997) this, there was virtually no mention of the 1970s band, Fox, or of their uniquely voiced singer Noosha Fox, that I could find on the Internet. At that time they also seemed to have had no direct coverage by Record Collector magazine. They did however get a mention in Record Collector (No 188, April 1995, page 19) in an article titled 'Queen Collaborations'. It appears that Roger Taylor of 'Queen' added backing vocals to the track 'Survival' on Fox's 'Tails of Illusion' album. Queen were in the same studio recording 'Opera'. Although they had at least a couple of hit singles 'Single Bed', 'Only You Can' and 'Imagine me, Imagine you', I didn't start buying their records until I saw the album 'Fox' at a reduced price in Wealth's in Swindling, circa 1977. My favourite track on this LP is 'Patient Tigers'. It wasn't until the 1980s that I discovered they had also released two other albums 'Tails of Illusion' and 'Blue Hotel'. I obtained both these albums, second hand, through the small ads of Record Collector. Blue Hotel became my favourite. Tracks on "Tails of Illusion" are - Yule, Yule - Survival - Strange Ships - For Whatever it's worth - Minor Therapy - Lily Sing - UPI KP - Howdy - Me Without You - Little Brown Box. Tracks on "Blue Hotel" are - Blue Hotel - Junina - S-S-S-Single Bed - Moustaches on the Moon - Magic Machine - My Old Man's Away - Living out my Fantasies - Almond Eyes - Under Your Own Umbrella - Friendship Rose - Like it Like it Used to be. Apart from Nosher's stunningly unique voice, I liked the imaginatively styled tunes and Decoder type effects. Some of the backing vocals in 'Shingle Bed' and the introduction passages into 'Only You Can' & 'Strange Ships', being great examples of Fox strangeness. (thanks to a web surfing Fox fan for the Nashua scan) I never saw the band, except on television. I had heard that Noosha had gone on to release a single 'Georgina Bailey'. From about 1988 0n, I searched for their material on CD, but found nothing. Nothing that is until June 1997, when I discovered a budget price CD 'Only you can' in the HIV shop in Oxford Street, London, during my only visit to the UK in more than two years. It appears to have been issued in 1996 by 'Wise Buy' (QB 866702). Many of the tracks were new to me, but it was great to hear Noosha's voice again, without the pops and crackles with which my vinyl Lips are now afflicted. With 16 tracks the CD was great value for money at UK pounds 4.99. The tracks are:- * If you don't want my peaches don't shake my tree * Georgina Bailey * Model in a Leotard * I want to be alone * Electron people * Dancing with an alien * Strange ships * * Red letter day * * Yule Yul's * * He's got magic * * Imagine me, Imagine you * * Only you can * * Te yo * Temple of love * Torn between two worlds * Captain of your ship Those tracks marked * appeared on one of the original Lips. A Fox fan sent me the following additional information (December 29th 1997):- [One record you may or may not know about is a rather nice disco-Ash solo single from 1979 called 'The Heat is On' b/w 'Some Enchanted Evening' on Chrysalis CHES 12 2337 (12"). Unlike 'Georgina Bailey', It was produced by David Macao, and OSHA wrote the B-side.] In April 1998 I was made aware of another CD 'The very best of Fox'. This CD contains material taken from the albums 'Fox' and 'Blue Hotel', plus the single 'Georgina Bailey'. Last time I checked (Nov 2003) it was available from amazon.co.uk Fox were: Noosha ( Vocals ) Kenny Young ( Guitars, Percussion and Vocals ) * Herbie Armstrong ( Guitars and Vocals ) Pete Silly ( Keyboards ) Jim Gannon ( Lead Guitar ) Gary Taylor ( Bass Guitar ) Jim Frank ( Drums and Percussion ) * Kenny Young also wrote and produced most of the songs FOX Singles "Only You Can"was b/w "Out of My Body" "Imagine Me..." b/w "If I Point at the Moon" "He's Got Magic" b/w "The Love Ship" "Strange Ships" b/w "Little Brown Box" "S-s-single Bed" b/w "Silk Milk" "My Old Man's Away" b/w "Magic Machine" "Georgina Bailey" b/w "Pretty Boy" ( the list above was kindly supplied by Shaun Butcher ) Fox Singles Chart Positions Reina van Dam kindly supplied the following chart position information:- Hereby the chart positions of Fox and NOSHAFox in the United Kingdom (UK), West-Germany (BBROD, Netherlands (NNFL, Belgium (B) and the United States of America (USA). 15/02/1975 means 15th of February 1975 (date/month/year). Pen's freshman year at Howard University in Washington D.C. included dorm room cyphers, dance battles, books and a spring break trip to help rebuild New Orleans.
The first year...it's a Platform.
So quick, so Fast- I saw Howard University, Applied to school, got accepted, got my plane ticket, got a kiss from my momma,-- then I woke up, Between two of North West DC's most notorious spots- Hobart St. and Ledroit Park, in a muggy dorm room, in red-brick building erected in 1957. Charles R. Drew Residence Hall. Room 206. All of my life's belongings were collectively in two suitcases, my backpack, and my pockets. My west coast clock refused to alter its schedule, it didn't need to-my scheduled show of East Oakland sideshows and East Bay sunsets had been canceled for a show fresh as Dougie and Slick Rick: the platform.
It's given name is Howard University, some call it the Mecca, I call it the platform- a constant show. People ask me how was my first year, I instantly refer to movies and television shows, in order to establish some form of a comprehendible image:
"bruh, the social cliques and crews are like School Daze, the lunch room is like A different World, and the Football games are lightweight like Drumline."
And of course, the characters: I'm Pendarvis, aka "pen", from East Oakland, I knew Chuck before I went out there, he lived on the opposite side of the East at home- at school he stayed on the other side campus, in turn we created Chuck and Pen... at large- F-it, go hard! (inside joke), but we would soon cover all land the sun's light touched.
After Chuck and I squaded up on that first day- I believe my social network spread like wild fires and club fliers. I met characters of all backgrounds: Shid, Vic, and Q stayed on the second floor with me. Shid is a soon to be famous horn player from Richmond, Va Q is from New Orleans, a wild cat -- runs wit fly-0-4 boyz along with my patnas Emmitt and Calvin- they are all some characters. Then of course Vic- who came from some town all the way on the other side of the States just to find out his neighbor is from the same city: Oakland.
The subplots to the major story were also interesting: I met Jonnie aka Ville from Jackson ville, FL, he explained to me his pursuit of his second PHD, this one in atmospheric science- using cigar smoke as a blackboard, I met Jessica, a girl I went to elementary school with in Oakland, who had since lived on four other continents and now talks with a British accent, I met Dominique from Atlanta who has a step father with the same name as me...but that's a whole other story.
The cliques and crews:
The fly girls who listen to Beyonce, the hip chicks who listen to Kelis, and my beautiful sistas who listen to Lauryn Hill. (Many girls are quick to say they don't fit into the typical Howard Girl title, but just being a girl attending Howard is a title in itself- "One of the Many". It is rumored that the female to male ratio on campus is 10-1! For every ten girls there is one guy- this makes going to class better than going to the club, for some- think of tuition as a years advance to "club Howard". The beneficiaries of this ratio were cliques such as the Frat boys who consciously have wardrobes which only promote certain colors, the fly-boys who have wardrobes that parallel Pharrell's, and the athlete's who have wardrobes that say "HOWARD" on everything.
I ran with the "rappers": B-more Sam who told me about the passing of a younger sibling, Chi-town Glenn who told me about his new born back in Chicago, Messiah from Trinidad/Annapolis/ Brooklyn who was most commonly recognized for his appearances on "Showtime at the Apollo" and is now a proud graduate of the class of '07, Emmitt from New Orleans, Survived the big Easy and did it the hard way- he stayed through Katrina- a claim I didn't completely understand until I took a trip down there for spring break. We worked long days in the 9th ward helping to reconstruct the beauty of the Bayou.
Bashir a graduate student from Cleveland, who taught us youngsters just enough before exiting the cipher in pursuit of business ventures with his childhood friend, Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith. We never stopped rapping. I fit right in.
Why would we stop? The entire campus is a stage, from the benches by the performance art building, to the cafeteria- also known as club café. The yard was center stage- homecoming's "yard-fest", sorority and fraternity crossings, and a slew of famous names randomly gracing the platform.
So this is a college- administration problem, café food, money issues, and nasty DC weather- all of it overshadowed by the allure of the platform- Jay-Z, who blessed the campus with a performance states on his latest album "fame is the most addictive drug in the world", and if this holds true, then the platform for the potential of fame is nothing more than a gateway drug... Narration by conductor Andrew Davis and interviews with acclaimed musicians such as Yo-Yo-Ma provide insight and flavor to describe the instruments and their role in the sound of each orchestra. The in-depth approach not only reflects Lehman's award-winning filmmaking, but also his 10 years of study in Paris with Nadia Boulanger on musical composition. Lehman and Davis conclude The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra with a rendition of Benjamin Britten's monumental work of the same title, exemplifying the beauty and magnificent nature of the orchestra in its finest and most glorious moment - performing in concert. 39 minutes, color. direct link to purchase video: http://www.phoenixlearninggroup.com/Products/VideoDetail.aspx?id=5562e55b-91e0-4e53-9a3c-8e4ec429b2fc&cat=&sub= (Less)

ENJOY...!!! (Less)
