I have thought since I first heard this song back in 1995 that this is one of the two or three best songs Michael Card has ever written, but have thought if he'd just wait a little bit after he asks each question to allow the listener to ponder for a moment it might even have a greater impact. That's what I have tried to address with this arrangement. Also, the setting was not planned. It "just happened" that when I was ready to record it, the sun was shining through my living room window onto that certain spot on my couch. I didn't notice until after I was finished recording that the cross bars in the window were forming the shadow of a cross on my face as I was singing.
