There was blood everywhere. Mary held Ravenous up in the air, her grip tightening. Ravenous was amused. Ravenous: So, this is the power everyone's been talking about... Mary: Shut up! A deal's a deal! Now let my friends go! Ravenous: Okay, I will. Heh, now that I think of it, your so powerful you could just get them down yourself... I'd like to see that. Mary teightened her grip even more. Ravenous was gasping for breath, but at the same time it seemed like he was chuckling. Ravenous: Yes... Do you think killing me will make a difference? Mary: You're right... Mary tossed Ravenous several yards. She then tore a huge chunk out of the floor and threw it at Ravenous. It was a direct hit that knocked Ravenous over. He quickly got back up. Ravenous: Heh, I hope we can fight again sometime! Ravenous picked up the corpse and dissapeared into the shadows. Mary' eyes returned to their previous blue color. She then took another chunk of the floor out and threw it at the chains that suspended the others. Mario and Link broke compleatly free and landed perfectly fine on their feet. Luigi simply crashed to the floor on his face. Although not hurt, he didn't like the fall. Mario got his hat and put it back on. Mary felt mixed, she was glad that none of her friends got hurt (well... Luigi kinda did), and yet, she couldn't help but feel sad. As she noticed her friends were alright, tears began to form in her eyes. She then ran over to them and hugged them all. As she did this she burst into tears. They were all still shocked about her fighting Ravenous, but that didn't seem to matter at the moment. Mary: *sob* I'm glad you all are fine! I... I don't want to see anyone suffer because of me! Luigi: Mary, it's not you're fault. If it's anyone's fault, it should be that Ravenous guys! Mario: Luigi's right, Mary. It's alright now. We're all fine. Mary: No, it's not alright! *sniffle* You all could have died! How could I live with myself then?! Link: Don't worry about it. We've been through more dangerous situations. Mary: I know that you're not lying, but that was one of the most scarriest moments in my life! Promise me guys, that if anyone has to die, I should go first! Link: Now you're just being foolish! Mario: That's a promise none of us can keep, Mary. I'm sure you understand. Mary: I understand... *sob* But you guys have been helping me ever since we met! I must pay you back! Somehow! Mario: All I want to see is you being happy. You don't need to pay us back in any special way. Link: Yeah, me too. You don't need to worry over us so much. Luigi: Please Mary. I've only known you for less than a day, and I too do not want to see you be sad. Mary forced a smile, tears still rolling down her cheeks. Mary: Okay, if all of you just want me to be happy, then I'll try... Mary's hug grew a little tighter. Everyone else decided to hug back to comfort her. A new thought crossed Mary's mind. Mary: (I was sent to look for heroes, but I've found more than that. I've found friends! I just wish I could help them more than I do now.) Luigi: Um, Mary? Mary: Yes, Luigi? Luigi: Maybe we can help you clean up this mess? Mary stopped crying and looked back. She noticed the huge mess left by the fight with Ravenous. It looked more like a small ocean of blood than a place with a fountain as a center piece. She laughed nervously, feeling embarrased. Mary: Ehehehe. Sorry about that. Mario: No problem. In fact, you don't even need to worry about it. Mary: No no, it's okay. I want to help. Luigi: I know exactly where the mops are. I'll be back in a flash! When Luigi returned with the mops and many buckets of soapwater, they all got to work. They all knew it was a chore, but it didn't feel like one to them. Mary was enjoying herself, even though she knew that some of the blood was her own. Everyone else was still concerned for her. She had many cuts and bruises. She even had a bullet wound just a little below her chest, and yet, she felt like nothing happened. They worked all through the night and finished just as the sun began to rise. Mary: *phew* We're done. Mary smiled. Link: I know it's a little late to ask... But do you think you should get those wounds checked out? Mary: Nah, it's nothing. I mean it hurts, but it doesn't hurt that bad. Link: Uh, Mary, you've been shot. Mary: It's not that bad... Link: Whatever. Link shrugged. A few mars people showed up. They all looked around, noticing that they had to clean up a mess and that Mary had wounds. One started talking into one of it's phones. phone: What just happened here? Mary: A guy called Ravenous tried to kill my friends, so I fended him off... The phone repeated what Mary said back to it in it's own language, just as always. The conversation continued. phone: You look as though you've sustained heavy damage. We can help. Mary: Oh, really. It's not nearly as bad as it looks. Mary laughed. All the others just stared out of amasement out of what Mary was saying about her wounds. phone: No. We have a brand new technological method of mending you're wounds. It will be very quick. The procedure is painless, so don't worry. Mary: Oh, you do? Well, I don't need it... But it would be nice. phone: What about the rest of you? Mary: Oh, don't worry. They are well... Atleast I think... Hold on a sec. Mary turned to the others. Mary: Are you guys hurt? Link: Ummm... No. Mario: I might need a new hat, but that's it. Otherwise I'm fine. Luigi: I don't need too. After all, falling on your face isnt that bad. Mary: Are you sure? Link: Mary, look at you! You look like you could die at any moment! Mary: Really? I feel fine though. As she said that, a little blood trickled out from the right side of her mouth. This made everyone else feel uneasy. Mary noticed what everyone was looking at and wiped the blood off her face. Mary: Now I see what you meen... Mary examined herself more closely. She noticed many cuts on her arms and she also discovered the bullet wound. Mary: I guess I should go then! Mary laughed nervously. The others were still amased that she took this very lightly. She then turned back to the mars people. Mary: Okay. Take me to this place, please. When the phone translated back, the mars people vanished along with Mary ----- Link: Hmm... Does she worry about the ones she cares about too much? Mario: What makes you think that? Luigi: Please tell us your reason... Link sighed, trying to get his thoughts together. Link: Well... Ever since the first day I met her, she has been really selfless. I mean, their's nothing wrong with that... But she looks like she could have died multiple time... There is also something else I noticed... Mario & Luigi: Hmm? Mario and Luigi were listening more closely. Link: Have any of you noticed how she can shrug off pain... and how some of her wounds seem to... vanish? Mario & Luigi: Vanish?! Mario was now deep in thought. Mario: Now that I think of it, she did get scraped a bit by those two strange homonids we fought yesturday... But later on that day, her scars were gone... Luigi: And those wounds she got from Ravenous look a whole lot more ghastly hours ago... Link: There is still something that Mary won't tell us... I can link her wounds healing fast to that outlandish extra appendage of hers... But why is she so selfless? Luigi: Maybe it was the way she was raised? Link: I don't think that can be the whole reason... No, it's probably not even half of it. Link began to pace around the fountain. Mario: Does it matter? Mary is Mary. I wouldn't stress over it. Link stopped pacing. Link: You're probably right, Mario. It's probably nothing big, anyway. Link shrugged. ----- Mary was in a chamber compleatly new to her. It was spherical in shape, like the inside of a large hollow piller. the walls and ceiling were white. In the center was a strange form of energy that seemed to come out of the ground and fade away after a few feet. She noticed she was the only one in the area. Mary: Oh, shoot! What am I suppose to do? She doubletaked around the room a few times. She then heard a voice that seemed to come from everywhere at once. The voice was of decent volume and echoed off the walls. voice: Just stand in the center and wait... Mary paniced. Mary: Whoa! Who said that?! voice: Don't worry, it's just one of us. Anyway, stand in the center. Mary: Um, okay. Mary went into the center of the room as instructed. She felt warm. Suddenly she noticed that the cuts on her arms were vanishing. Within seconds, all of her wounds were healed. Aftherwards, the energy faded away. Mary: It felt so warm... voice: That doesn't matter now, we think we found where this Zero guy you also wanted to see. Mary: Oh, really? voice: Yes. Even though we don't have exact coordinates, we can send you in the general area. Mary: That whould be great! voice: Okay then! Mary: Wait! This fa - - Mary didn't have time to speak and was instantly transported. She was transported to a rocky outcrop next to some water. The time looked late in the day, but Mary knew that that couldn't be right. Off in the distance, she noticed a young samurai with red hair wearing what looked like a pink outfit walking down by the water. Suddenly, a bunch of small shar-makai burst out of the water and attempted to bite the samurai. He carved quite a few of them before any of them reached him. And then wierd red and black circles formed on the ground in front of him, resulting in even bigger shar-makai coming out of the ground. The bigger ones ate the smaller ones. The samurai carved through many of them, but one survived and Mary noticed it's gruesome transformation. Bones breaking, organs exploding, a warped inhuman voice was what Mary heard as she saw the worm's form twist and mangle itself. Mary decided to try to stop it, but a force blocked her path. She heard a voice in her head. "You will die here!" Mary never heard the voice before, but the voice was very familiar... like from someone she knew her whole life. Eventually, the mangled form fit that of the samurai and they then fought. Mary decided to keep track of which one was which. Sadly, the shar-makai won the battle. The shar-makai noticed her. She got a better look at the face. He had a serious look, alone with blue eyes and a distinguished scar. Shar-Makai(?): And now to destroy the witness! The samurai lunged at Mary. Mary accidently fell over. Instinctivly she covered her face. She heard what sounded like metal and energy clash. She then looked to see a man in strange red armor and with long blonde hair streaming from the back of his helmet wielding a sword composed of some form of energy. Shar-Makai: Z-Zero?! How did you get - -?! That cought Mary's ear. Zero: You alright? Mary: Yes. Are you Zero? Zero: Does it matter? Hurry! Get out of here! Mary stood up, but she didn't leave. Mary: No! I won't run! Zero: ... Then don't die... Shar-Makai: Humph! You both think you can take me on with this new body of mine?! The samurai jumped back a few yards. Mary prepared herself, but Zero didn't need to. ------------------------------------------- I really appologize for the skipped frames. Kenshin hurts enough 1 on 1, but with twice the attack power + when you're paired up with someone that has a bad A.I. = lots of pain.
