This is a play that I am in... VERONICA'S ROOM by Ira Levin February 1, 2, 3 - 8, 9, 10 2008 Veronica's Room is a psychological thriller by Ira Levin, whose well-known works include Rosemary's Baby, The Boys from Brazil, Death Trap and The Stepford Wives. Levin continues his cat-and-mouse tradition, expertly playing with the themes of what is and is not reality, extreme family dysfunction, and absolute horror -- keeping the audience guessing the outcome right through to the end. It's a totally absorbing spider's web entwining fantasy and reality. Susan Kerner has been enticed to the Brabissant mansion by the Mackeys, a charming, elderly Irish couple who are struck by Susan's strong resemblance to Veronica Brabissant, long dead daughter of the family for whom they work. She is induced to impersonate Veronica for awhile to solace the only living Brabissant, her addled sister living in the past and believing Veronica is alive and angry with her But, once dressed in Veronica's clothes, Susan finds herself locked in the role and locked in Veronica's room. Or is she Veronica, in 1935, pretending to be an imaginary Susan? One critic said, "like being trapped in someone else's nightmare. . . a jarring and surprising climax." ... behind the scenes look.
