This trailer is a short trip into 'Transparent Things' composed of rearranged images from the installation. 'Transparent Things' is an experience of live cinema created by Ofer Smilansky on the basis of the first chapter of Vladimir Nabokov's eponymous novel. This elusive and odd text introduces a reflection on the impossibility to grasp the reality in its present stage. The artist explores Nabokov's text in an audiovisual piece which combines live and recording, improvised and composed aspects. The sonorities of the words are manipulated to create the musical line, from the meanings emerge images, and the actual typing of the text is used to give motion. In this piece, the main characteristics of Ofer Smilansky's work are present: the tight relation between image and sound, the speed and load of information, all creating a dramatical intensity. 'Transparent Things' is a highly immersive piece presented on a multiple transparent screen set up.(Less)
