I did a lot of sports while I was growing up. In some way or another, I was involved with them until I graduated from high school. The ones that I really excelled at however were basketball, gymnastics, cheerleading and track.
Through sports, that's how I stayed in shape. When I left high school I attended Oral Roberts University. At Oral Roberts, they have fitness classes as part of the curriculum, basically they make you exercise. So even if you didn't want to have anything to do with running, a track, treadmill, weights, etc...they didn't care lol. You had to take the classes and pass, or you didn't graduate.
That was good and bad, I didn't really enjoy being told what exercises I had to do, in my mind if I was going to exercise I was going to do the exercises that I enjoyed...that didn't happen lol but it was good because it was a way for me to stay in shape.
I knew that when I finished with school I was going to have to find another way to stay in shape...
Back in November 2006, my boyfriend ran his first marathon. He had been training for it since before we had met and I knew that he was really excited about the big day.
When race day came, he was pumped and ready to go! He finished the race in great time and he looked amazing while doing it! It was a good day!
A few days after his race, him and I were having lunch and we were talking about the race and how proud I was of him...I made the comment about how I wished I could do something like that....BIG MISTAKE!!! Haha just kidding
He told me I could for sure run a marathon if I did the things necessary to train and if I had a good trainer (meaning him to be my trainer of course)
So I agreed to run a marathon. He made a contract! It said something to the effect of..." I Jordan Kothe, promise to run the Route 66 Marathon in November 2007"
I signed it......not really thinking much else about it
Well the time has come for me to start my training for my race. For my first race I'll only be doing a half marathon which is 13.3 miles or something like that, it's not a full marathon but hey, everyone has to start somewhere right?!
I'm so excited about this race b/c like I said earlier...I ran track but I didn't even run...I did long jump! I've never been a runner so this race and the training for it is going to be a huge challenge! It's something I thought I could never do so I'm out to prove myself wrong that I can do it!
Over the next 70 days or so, I'm going to be making a training video series that consists of a video every few days or once a week. In the video series I will be keeping you posted on my marathon training of course, but also for my training I'm going to use the same principles and techniques to reach the goals for my running that I use to achieve success with my business.
With every video, I will be going over my marathon training but also, giving you a valuable piece of information that can help you take your business to the next level.
