Part Twenty-Three: Kiki the Monkey!!! "I'm Kiki the monkey ki ki!" Aww! After passing through the maze of brambles on his way to the Palace of Darkness, Link stumbles upon this cute furry little critter who...loves rupees? Uh oh, you know what that means, don't'cha? Yup, that's right...turns out that Kiki's a very knowledgable monkey and knows how to reveal the entrance into the otherwise impenetrable dungeon (fronted by giant gorilla statues, ironically). However, it seems that goodness and greed can sometimes come hand-in-hand. Kiki demands 100 rupees as the toll at the entrance! Link wonders what on earth would that monkey spend all those rupees on? While it seems that people in search of the golden power (revealed to be the Triforce) transform into what most resembles their heart, this furry creature is more likely searching for a golden banana, instead! xD But pay we must, and thus we enter the first dungeon of the Dark World...the Palace of Darkness... (notice the over-usage of the word "dark" in this game? Yeah, that's what happens when you stick a Japanese guy in a room with orders to create the prequel to one of the greatest adventure games of the time...somewhat similar to "The Heart of Darkness," by Joseph Conrad, where the words "brood" and gloom" are used like a zillion times.
