After staring at it for a minute or two, Joe could hear the water switch off in the bathroom. He whipped his head around towards the door; acting hastily, he found a scrap piece of paper and scribbled a question onto it, folding it up and sticking it in close to the binding on the page he had written the song. He closed up the notebook and returned everything to approximately its original resting place, then took a seat on Steffi's bed, waiting for her to return.
He wasn't waiting long; 6 minutes later, Steffi walked into the room, grabbing a hair brush, a straightener, and a blow dryer while sitting down in front of a mirror by the desk. She got her hair reasonably dry before she turned on the straightener. Joe stood up and walked over to her, leaning down behind her.
"Need some help?" he asked. Steffi could feel his breath on her ear and she felt goosebumps rise on her arms.
"Is it safe to give you the straightener?" she asked in all seriousness. For an answer, Joe chuckled.
"Probably not. I still need Kevin to help me get mine working in the morning." Mentally he added, 'I can't believe I just told her that.' She giggled and began teasing her hair, pulling the hot iron through it. After she had straightened all of it, Joe grabbed her brush and ran it through her hair. Steffi smiled and sat back, enjoying the sensation of him playing with it. She glanced around the room and noticed that several things—including her journal—had been moved.
"So what did you read?" she asked.
"Nothing," Joe responded.
"Really?"
"Hey, I respect your privacy. I may have added a little something though."
She picked up the notebook and let it fall open; it naturally opened to where Joe had been writing and had slipped in his note. She recognized that there were lyrics to a song written there, but all she could read was the line written on the scrap of paper:
'Will you go out with me?'
Steffi stared at it, dumbfounded, until Joe shook her out of her daze.
"So? What's your answer?" he whispered.
"I'd love to," she whispered back.
Joe's grin widened and he went back to playing with her hair in silence; after another minute, Kevin knocked on the doorway.
"Hey, Joe, come on, we have to go."
"What? Can't I stay like five more minutes? Please?" Joe pleaded. Kevin shook his head and said bye to Steffi, who smiled and nodded her head once in return. Joe sighed and turned around to face Steffi. He gave her a warm hug, whispering into her ear,
"I'll call you later with the details. Later." And with a swift kiss on the cheek, he was gone.
Immediately after Kevin finished corralling his brothers into his car, Allie and Lucy bolted into the guest room where they found Steffi blushing and fidgeting with her hair brush. They prodded a little for details, and Steffi immediately told them everything that had happened. They had two hours of serious 'girl talk' before Allie even thought about calling Jason and letting him know.
The rest of the day was spent at the mall by the four of them picking out possible date outfits for all of the girls.
At around midnight, Lucy grabbed her cell phone and crept outside.
"Hey, sorry to call you so late. I need to talk to all three of you tomorrow.
You know that park that's right by my house?
Yeah, that one.
Can you guys meet me by it at like 8 tomorrow? Thanks, I'll see you then. Bye."
OH, THINGS ARE DEFINITELY HEATING UP BETWEEN...WELL, EVERYONE! NICK AND ALLIE SEEM TO BE GOING STEADY. WHAT DID HE SAY TO ALLIE IN THE YARD THAT MADE HER SPEECHLESS? LUCY IS DEFINITELY UP TO SOMETHING WITH THAT LATE-NIGHT PHONE CALL. WHO WAS SHE TALKING TO, AND WHY DOES SHE NEED TO TALK TO THEM SO URGENTLY? AND SO EARLY IN THE MORNING? WAS STEFFI SMART IN NOT TRUSTING JOE WITH THE STRAIGHTENER? AND WILL SHE NOTICE THE NEW SONG IN HER NOTEBOOK?
BTW...I know there's been some drama concerning the Jonas Brothers' Kungfu Grip song (it's the song in part two) and whether or not it was leaked, and if people should be listening to it. I don't want any comments saying 'take off the lyrics' or 'don't listen to the song, Nick's gonna get in trouble.' Frankly, I think that rumor is just that...a rumor—and it's not like I'm telling you to go download the song (I'm not). So I'm using the lyrics anyways. If you don't like that, get over it cuz I'm not changing the story. (Less) Channel: youtube
