To (More) Jensen Barnes 100 Days Project, Michael Beirut Yale University School of Art, Graphic Design November 7, 2007 - February 14, 2008 I've always had a hard time waking up in the morning. To increase productivity I attempted to wake up at exactly 8:00 am everyday for 100 days (15 days simulated, 85 days achieved). Each buzzer represents a day. The grid pattern simulates a scale structure, a theme I'm exploring in core. Using a 9V battery, each buzzer draws approximately 90 milliamps. I measured the output frequency of one of the buzzers and it is approximately 725 Hz. As an experiment, I placed a tube that is a quarter wavelength long at 725 Hz (approximately 4.75 inches) and the tone improved and the signal measured on the oscilloscope was more stable. The velocity of sound (c) is 1125 feet/second in dry air at 20 degrees C at sea level. The wavelength (λ) corresponding to a frequency (f) is found via: λ = c / f A tube closed at one end and open at the other resonate at odd multiples of a quarter wavelength so I cut a tube 4-3/4 inches long (approximately a quarter wavelength at 725 Hz) and taped it over the diaphragm opening on the buzzer. Though the wave quality increases, I decided not to use tubes. A 9 volt battery conservatively has a capacity of 500 mAH (milliamp-hours) and at a drain of 90 mA the battery will last a few hours at most. A typical drain for a 9 volt battery is 15 mA so 90 mA is a very heavy load on the battery. The modularity of each circuit, however, allows the piece to be installed in a variety spaces and configurations without the need of electricity. Of course, knowing the limitations on the writers, anyone can see from a mile away that they won't remember by episode's end, as if today's cosplaying villain having mind-scrambling powers isn't a giveaway. Still, any episode of any show where you switch bodies, wipe memories, or visit alternate dimensions of that world is instantly good. How can that be, asks the philistine who thinks everything is a cliche and that cliches are bad? Because these sorts of episodes either expand on the show's world vastly, or allow writers to stretch and try new things in the realms of character development. Of course, you know MMPR is going to bungle it up. As we can see, the new PRs just stole all of the old PRs' clothing. This works because eight year olds are so retarded they wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference until they get to fourth grade when they start to discuss conspiracy theories and sex to impress each other in a depressing George Orwell-sort of way with how evil the world is. Children have brain damage. Although anyone can tell B&S's discovery won't last til episode's end, at least we can note that their "Samuel Beckett" method of investigation seems to have paid off. While the duo have been deemed bad simply by being in the wrong place at the wrong time (and occaisionally by disregarding safety), for once they were in the right place at the right time due to either randomness or the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern principle. Plus, they're pretty darn unnoticeable by the PRs. It's pretty irksome to have to include scenes of things that B&S are watching themselves, but there you have it. FINALLY! NOW we're gonna see some REAL asskicking action! It's the Bulk and Skull show, NOW! Please enjoy the only well-written plot scene in the entire series up until this point, until about two seconds in when it turns back to the ugly plot contrivances as usual. At least we know the truth, that B&S are the real heroes after all. It has all been leading up to this day, since the very creation of the cosmos...well, maybe not. Even Lord Kidneys is frustrated with our duo. And a happy end is had for 2.34. As 2.35 starts, we see children are not only not actors, they're ugly too. Next we come to B&S sporting their kicky convict stripe swimsuits. You are listening to them speak and not just admiring Jason Narvy's lean hotness, right? HEY. I can't really seem to figure out what justifies Rocky (not the flying squirrel, unfortunately) and Billy's indignance with B&S swimming with fake fins on their heads, especially not in what appears to be a CLOSED LAKE. Or do sharks generally spontaneously generate inside of such lakes? I don't know anything. "Now you two stay out of trouble. We've got more hackneyed lines to screw up." Rocky was the understudy of that guy from Troll 2 who delivered the infamous "They're eating her" line. But enough of being rude without justification, how long can B&S tread water? Lord Salmonella's evilest plan yet is to steal B&S's party inner tube. Ewww, grey water (and being Cali, you know it is). This is the second time I can remember where sinister, unseen forces have stolen B&S's stuff, and without a external source for a sympathetic ear to confirm the theft was bad, then what external entity exists to discourage theft? Another scene of B&S heroics is interrupted when they need to be rescued by Jim Henson's Baywatch Babies. And as usual, B&S get lectured for nearly dying. Hooray, preppies! Hooray human race! Remember kids, the victim is always the perpetrator! (sarcasm) (Less)
