Seventeen centuries late Hitler's speeches and writings echoed the same darn hateful sentiment. It has been the Church, the Christians that have been the root cause of many of the atrocities perpetrated upon mankind, and until we fully realize the scope of this history wil keep repeating itself as it does daily in fundamentalist societies like America. Everyday Gay people have to struggle against an evil mindset the church has set firmly in place. No being Gay, No Gay marriage, No equal rights, no, no, no. Everyday Gay teens attempt suicide, and everyday people die of aids, and everday people are harassed and looked down on because they are different. We are "The Other" and we are intrinsically not the same, not of our own choosing. The poor souls of the black slaves, the Indians, and all the Jews women, children and Gay folk did not choose who they are, they just are. And who the hell is a religious person that comes along claiming he has the exact truth and can trample others under put and just call it sacred violence. How can one say he loves his neighbor as himself and then deny him or her a right to marry someone of the same sex? Why has the fundamentalist ignorance been tolerated for so long? People are dying and crying and they need help. Gay people are entitled to the rights that heteros enjoy. If they don't give them, then it creates problems in society. You wonder why there is aids, suicide, murders of gays, and abuse? Well when you suppress people it flares up in the form of whatever. You force people into a promiscous and dangerous lifestyle simply because you deny them rights to pursue life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. My whole point in reading this excerpt is to point out that fundamentalist attitude which is highly dangerous. The Church preaches against gays and i am sur many have thought it a plague on the world, but you have to be ignorant to think that. But the Church has always had leaders rise up in every century to speak against "the other" just because they are different than them. They want to make you conform to thier high ideals or else you are going to hell and we will kill you first or make your life pretty miserable and deny you rights to love someone as a partner. It utterly amazes me at the ignorance on this issue. This is why I can't go to church around my area because they are mainly red-necked, fundamentalist crowds. Yes they say they love you but as long as you conform to their ways and don't dare be your true self. It always boggled my mind how these people can be pro-life and take such a rigid stance on abortion and at the same time be in favor of war! Unbelievably! Is this not anti-life? This is not pro-life? Thus, in a nutshell is the case of christianity dating all the way back to just after Christ left. Zealous Christians claiming to have the whole truth and nothing but the truth went rattling off at the mouth preaching thier hatred toward some group. The collateral damage has been untold millions of death throughout history. The church is quick to abandon true agape love for suppressing others with opposing views. The church has been true masters at conditional love but no nothing about true agape love. Very sad indeed. Oh, yeah they might say they love you but, tell them how you have a crush on someone of the same sex and want to marry them and you will see if they are a real true christian or not. (Less)
