The episode aired on May 8, 2005, in the US.+++++++++++++++Plot Hiding from bad haircuts and picture taking classmates, Bart and Lisa drag Homer into the movies. They see Left Below, a parody of Left Behind. Homer comes to fear that the Rapture is coming. Marge comforts Homer by telling him that the Rapture would not go unannounced (and Lisa agrees, saying that the world may end 100 years from now or from global warming, but not from the Rapture). Homer is won over by her reassurance. The next day, as Homer drives around Springfield in his car, he sees the devil (actually a man in an advertising costume) and blood falling from the sky (actually from an injured whale hanging from a helicopter), which he takes as signs that the Rapture is coming. He uses nonsensical numerology to calculate the date and time, finding that it is only a week away. As he goes around Springfield, Homer predicts that stars will fall from the sky, with Kent Brockman reporting on this, and indeed they do when there is a blimp accident at the Krusty Celebrity Salute to Specials special. This causes many of Springfield's residents to believe that Homer is right in predicting that at 3:15 p.m. on May 18th, the apocalypse will come, and so the believers follow him to the Springfield Mesa to wait for it. However, the predicted hour passes without incident, and the dismayed citizens go home. All of them are annoyed at Homer, particularly Moe, who had sold his tavern to a Japanese sushi bar. Homer goes home and starts throwing away the books he bought, but suddenly realizes he has made an error in his calculations: there were 13 people at the last supper, not twelve. His new prediction is for 3:15 a.m. on May 19th, but since he can't convince his family to come with him again, he returns to the mesa alone. When nothing happens at first he thinks that he is wrong again, but the next moment he is naked and floating through space. Homer arrives in Heaven, where the tour guide dresses him despite Homer being comfortably naked ("because this is Heaven for 'everyone'"). They fly past several heavenly places including a waterslide which will not be available for another year (thanks to Heaven's using Leprechaun labor). The tour guide informs Homer that whatever he wishes for comes true, so he promptly makes the guide's head explode, causing the tour guide to put Homer next to the kiddie pool. Since his family would not follow him to the mesa, he asks if he can see them on the big TV screen in his luxurious room, on which Earth is channel 23. Marge and the kids are shown being tormented by the devil. He has a talk with God about saving his family. When God refuses to help, due to Jesus' suffering on Earth, Homer assures Him that He just made a powerful enemy. Homer runs around trashing Heaven, trying to change God's mind, and gets stopped by security. God finally agrees to undo the Rapture by turning back time (because, Homer points out, "Superman did it"). God incants, "Deus ex machina". Homer later wakes up on the mesa and is reunited with Marge, Bart and Lisa. He suspects that it was all a dream, but the fact that his final wish was granted (Moe's Tavern having been restored) indicates that the events were real. The final scene in the tavern parodies the painting The Last Supper. (Less) Channel: 123video

It was first broadcast on March 20, 2005.++++++++++++Plot When Marge takes the kids on a Sunday drive, Homer suffers from cleaning the garage at home. He gets spiders in his throat, and he is almost killed by the garage door. Luckily, he gets saved by Lisa (who gives Homer air) and Bart (who compresses Homer's chest by elbow dropping him, body pressing him and hitting him on the chest with a steel chair). After the incident, Marge insists that the family buy life insurance, but Homer is deemed uninsurable because of his bad medical history. Marge, influenced by a "Wifetime TV" movie about a wealthy man without insurance whose widow and children were forced to live on the streets, decides to save money by buying imitation brands of cereal and coffee. Homer tries to comfort Marge but she rejects him. Homer, now angry about Marge's new measures, takes the money she has saved and puts a down payment on a new motor home, although Homer already owned one in the episode "The Call of the Simpsons" (albeit a dilapidated one that was rented to him due to his lousy credit history.) After he buys his motor home, Marge tells him to enjoy it because she never wants to speak to him again. Homer starts living in the RV, and he and Marge compete for the loyalty of Bart and Lisa. Fortunately, Homer's kid ways gives him an advantage and wins the kids over. Homer discovers a convoy of RVs at a gas station, and invites them to stay in his backyard. Marge gets annoyed with their behavior and cuts off their electricity, causing Homer's newfound friends to ditch him. Homer and Marge proceed to get into an argument so powerful that lasts all night. Fearing that Homer and Marge might divorce, Bart decides that he and Lisa should return the RV to the dealership. Discovering that the kids and RV are gone, Homer and Marge give chase in the car. Bart and Lisa accidentally get on the freeway, and force their parents to make up. Bart and Lisa then try to pull over, but lose control of the RV, which plunges off an uncompleted runaway truck ramp onto a Turkish container ship. The ship is leaving port, but Marge convinces the captain to turn around after offering him several cans of mushroom soup she bought on sale. With their marriage restored, Homer tells Marge that he'll return the RV in the morning, and uses the ship's crane to put the vehicle on a nearby pier. This collapses, and the RV sinks in the harbor, much to Homer's dismay ("D'OH!"). Marge is unconcerned about the loss of money, because the Turkish sailors put hashish in her food. During the test, she experiences a hot flash and is later taken to the hospital. Dr. Hibbert tells her that she is experiencing menopause (which is explained in a video with Robert Wagner). She is saddened that now she cannot have children. Patty suggests that she adopt a child. She almost manages to adopt one of Cletus' many babies, but that falls through after Cletus reclaims the child. Lisa advises Selma to adopt a child from China. Although her forms are in order, Selma learns that she has to be married to legally get a child. When she finds out that the agency-person knows who MacGyver is, she puts down the second name she can think of: Homer Simpson. She sponsors a trip to China for the Simpsons. While on the plane, Selma informs Homer that he must pretend to be her husband. As the Simpsons fly into the Beijing Airport, Homer looks out the window and sees a statue of a Chinese take-out carton and says, "It makes the Lincoln Memorial look like crap." He is shocked, but later decides to do it for Marge. When they arrive, Selma claims that Bart and Lisa are their own children and Marge is their nanny. The Chinese adoption agent, Madam Wu (voiced by Lucy Liu), tells them that they will get a baby in a few days. The Simpsons visit the Great Wall of China and take in a Chinese production of Death of a Salesman which leaves Homer weeping and declaring that he finally "gets this play." When asked about his job in America, reasoning that he has no chance of being outed, Homer claims he is a Chinese acrobat. As luck would have it, at an acrobatics show, it is announced that the main performer had a sudden attack of "outspokenness" and suffered a "bullet-related death". When people start to realize that the Communist Party of China is not infallible and start questioning everything, Homer is told to perform to forestall an impending riot. The stunt (named "Chair Man Wow") involves being catapulted onto a high stack of chairs. The stunt goes off smoothly, but Homer's over-enthusiastic chanting of "U-S-A!" causes the stack to topple and he gets severely injured and is treated in a hospital, where he is treated with acupuncture needles (which are revealed to actually be porcupine quills). There, Selma gets her daughter, whom she names Ling. Selma thanks Homer for doing the right thing and decides to leave him to snuggle with Marge for a while. When everyone leaves, Homer and Marge snuggle. Unbeknownst to them, Madam Wu is watching them through holes in the nose of a portrait of Chairman Mao. As the Simpsons and Selma are about to leave, Madam Wu arrives and takes Ling away, as Homer and Selma aren't married. At the airport, The Simpsons try to console a despondent Selma. Lisa has an idea of getting Ling back. At the nursery, they dress and spray paint Homer as a cross-legged golden Buddha statue. According to the customs of feng shui, the Buddha statue must be taken indoors. The Chinese guards try pushing him in, but he is too heavy. They insert a hook into his nostril and drag him into the nursery. When they leave, Homer goes inside the nursery to search for Ling. The Simpsons, Selma and Ling pass through Tiananmen Square, a place where, according to the Chinese shown in the episode, "nothing happened" in 1989. Suddenly, Madam Wu, in a tank, confronts them and demands the baby back in a way similar to the Tank Man. After an impassioned speech from Selma, Madam Wu agrees to allow Selma to adopt Ling. Apparently, Wu herself had been raised by her mother alone, as her father was choked to death by a ping-pong ball the day before the Heimlich maneuver was invented. Selma, Ling, and the Simpsons depart China by junk except for Bart, who has been replaced by a Chinese child spy who is masquerading as him to deceive Homer. The episode ends with 3 dragons flying in the sky and singing and playing an erhu. (Less) Channel: 123video

It guest stars 50 Cent as himself, and Dana Gould as Barney Fife.++++++++++++++++++++Plot Bart sees a commercial for the rap show "Murder 4 Life" and wants to go. Homer lets Bart buy the ticket himself, however when Marge sees Bart wearing hip hop fashion, she finds out and forbids him to attend; Bart attends anyway. When the rapper "Alcatraaz" challenges Bart to a rap battle on stage, Bart begins to rap about Homer, thus making him an instant hit. An impressed Alcatraaz gives him a ride home and a free jersey. Bart also meets rapper 50 Cent who gives Bart positive advice while doing community service. Although his boss is not impressed and instead makes him go to the park to clean up dog mess. Arriving outside his home, Bart overhears Marge and Homer talking about his escape, saying Bart would be in serious trouble if he was caught. To avoid getting into trouble, he removes his jersey, writes a note, ties it to a rock and throws it through the window. Marge reads it, which says he has been kidnapped and has instructions that they should await further instructions. Everyone is in tragic support of the Simpsons family. Police Chief Clancy Wiggum declares that he will catch the kidnapper. He is mocked, scorned, and belittled by the various citizens and reporters. After Wiggum miserably muses over his failures, a somewhat inspiring vision of Barney Fife inspires him to put forth all his effort to solve the case. While hiding from the citizens of Springfield, Bart reveals his plan to Milhouse, who says he can stay at his dad's place in the rundown "Bachelor Arms" apartments. As Bart makes popcorn, he calls his family and disguises his voice as the supposed kidnapper. Chief Wiggum is at the Simpson's home, listening to the call. He takes the tape to the police lab, and rewinds and hears popcorn popping. He identifies it as "Chintzy Pop" (a very cheap type of popcorn). After a visit to the Kwik-E-Mart, he discovers that there are only two people who buy that brand - himself, and Kirk van Houten. At Kirk's apartment, the cops arrive to find Bart there. Kirk is arrested for kidnapping and Bart is returned to his forgiven parents. Wiggum is hailed a hero and is promoted to Police Commissioner (much to the shock of the town) and is thrown a parade. Milhouse confronts Bart, to tell him that his dad went to jail because of him. Bart feels guilty, and confesses his scheme to Wiggum. Despite this, Wiggum tells Bart to keep it a lie, as he is proud he's Police Commissioner. Kirk wants to keep it a lie as well, because while in jail, he gets a cleaner home, three meals a day, and single women cheering for him. Even Homer wants to keep it a lie so as to gain royalties from the publicity Bart is receiving. When Lisa discovers the jersey Bart received at the concert, she arrives to the conclusion that Bart had sneaked to the concert. Homer however, burns it as he wishes to keep the lie running. Lisa asks Principal Skinner and he agrees to help. Wiggum, Bart, Homer, and Kirk make an alliance and agree to keep their cover-ups at all costs. After they discover Lisa and Skinner's snooping, they find proof of Bart at the concert after seeing the video footage. During watching the footage, Skinner says "If only we knew what time he was at the concert." then realizes a rapper has a necklace with a clock on it and sees a time. Then he says "If only we had an exact date." and he sees a necklace that says "Thursday the 20th". While Homer attempting to convince Lisa and Skinner how the lie made everyone happier, he accidentally knocks down Alcatraaz's big screen TV, which probably destroys the video. Alcatraaz however, then throws a house party. Lisa is left questioning that whether this is all right. Homer concludes that even though Bart had lied, the lie made everyone happier, then he cannonballs into the pool. During the ending sequence, Skinner asks Alcatraaz if there was any place in the rapping world for a "forty-something elementary school administrator." Alcatraaz says he already hired a man for that job, Superintendent Chalmers. There is an editing mistake in this episode. In the scene where Homer, Bart, Kirk Van Houten and Chief Wiggum are scheming in Van Houten's jail cell, Wiggum goes into a temporary craze and throws business cards at the three other sitting characters. In the next shot, Bart can be seen entering the jail cell to deliver news, even though he was just seen sitting down. (Less) Channel: 123video

They also find a charity carnival which is raising money to help the park. Bart wins the grand prize in a carnival game, and then Homer beats him, going into his victory dance. Ned Flanders captures the dance on video and Comic Book Guy (whose name is revealed for the first time as "Jeff Albertson") places it on his website. Soon, the entire world has seen Homer's embarrassing dance, much to Homer's anger. However, major sports stars ask Homer to teach them his dance for use in victory. Meanwhile, Ned uses his camera to make a rather violent movie about Cain (Rod) and Abel (Todd). Everyone loves the film, except Marge, who finds it bloody and disgusting. Mr. Burns decides to finance Ned's next film, "Tales of the Old Testament" (which has a running time of 800 minutes - more than 13 hours). The bloodiness of the film angers Marge (whose character is portrayed as being somewhat intolerant and has censored other shows and movies with which she disagrees) and she announces at the screening that she will protest anything that Burns owns. Burns retorts, noting that he owns the town's nuclear power plant and there is no alternate power source to it. When the crowd blurt out alternate forms of power they can use Burns admits defeat and says the film will never be seen again, much to Ned's dismay. Homer's victory dances find criticism with fans but the football national committee loves them as Homer's dancing has raised ratings. They ask him to choreograph the Super Bowl Halftime show. Unable to develop any idea for the show Homer finds Ned at church. Together they decide to stage one of Ned's violent Bible stories at the show. At the Super Bowl Ned and Homer stage the story of Noah's Ark, where at the end Ned appears and reads a scripture from the Bible relating to performance. To this the audience jeers and boos. The media later accuses the Super Bowl of forcing Christianity onto the country, but the family does not care, and they enjoy an omelette dinner made from the eggs thrown at their house. The episode first aired in the USA on April 7, 2002.+++++++++++++++++++++Plot After a bad experience with genetically modified food, Marge decides to plant her own garden. Crows arrive on the new garden, so Marge makes a scarecrow, which scares Homer. Homer destroys the scarecrow, and the crows eventually see Homer as their leader, following him everywhere. But when the crows try to carry Maggie, Homer turns on them and they attack his eyes. He then goes to the hospital, where Dr. Hibbert prescribes him medicinal marijuana. Homer becomes a stoner , even asking Flanders to read him the whole Holy Bible. When Flanders offers a petition to have a vote on the ban of medical marijuana in Springfield, Homer unwittingly adds his signature. Homer's stoned state also sees him promoted to Executive Vice-President at the power plant, and so he goes to a rally for the legalization of medical marijuana (but the rally is actually held a day after the ban was approved by voters). Homer is cured of his medical condition and promises he wont smoke pot again. Mr. Burns asks Homer to help him with a speech for a crisis shareholders meeting. Homer gives Smithers his last joint, and while Smithers is smoking and dressing in the coat Judy Garland once wore, Burns apparently drowns in his bathtub. So, for the meeting, Smithers and Homer make Burns into a marionette, la Weekend at Bernie's, and the movement of the marionette inadvertenly gets Mr. Burns' heart working again. The meeting is a success, and another financial crisis at the power plant is avoided. [edit] (Less) Channel: 123video

It first aired on Fox on December 16, 2001.+++++++++++++++++++++Plot While watching a 1950s science fiction movie, Bart and Lisa see a commercial for a model rocket kit and Bart orders it by using Homer's credit card number. Six to eight weeks later, Bart gets the rocket and asks Homer if he wants to help put the rocket together. Homer joins him and Milhouse in the back yard to help them. Soon the rocket is ready, but it blows up before it can lift off. Jealous that Ned Flanders built a superior rocket, Homer enlists the help of his nerdy college roommates, Gary, Doug, and Benjamin. Once they are done with a pretty high-tech rocket, he shoos them and Milhouse away, and prepares to launch it himself. Unable to get their hands on any space monkeys, they use the school hamster, Nibbles, to pilot the rocket. The rocket lifts off successfully, but it develops complications and starts drifting off-course. After Nibbles bails out (disobeying Homer's rather simple instructions), the rocket crashes into the church and blows it up, aided and abetted by Homer, who tries to destroy it with a shotgun. The church council meets up to decide how to come up with money to fund the repairs to the church. With no help, they will have to do it themselves. At that moment, Mr. Burns, looking more sinister and evil than the Devil, shows up and offers to fix the damage provided that they allow him to run the church like a business. At first, the group is a bit reluctant, but they have no choice, so they agree. He introduces them to Lindsay Naegle, who will be overseeing the church renovations. Together, Lindsay and Burns make the church into a commercial monstrosity, complete with advertising signs, a Lard Lad statue, and a Jumbotron. Lisa, on seeing this, is appalled. Three weeks later, the newly renovated church is thrown open to the public. The whole place seems like a shopping mall and it even has new pews, resembling first-class airline chairs. When Lisa objects, she is labelled a "Pouting Thomas" on the "God Cam". Reverend Lovejoy starts the service rather solemnly, as usual, but suddenly starts endorsing big-screen TVs and pizzas. At this point, Lisa has had all she can take and denounces how horrible the church has become, likening it to the Whore of Babylon, much to everyone's astonishment. Some people try to talk favorably about the church about some wonderful things. Lisa agrees with them, but tells them that they cost the church its soul, and leaves, saying she has lost her faith in the church, much to the horror of Homer and Marge's. That night, Marge tries to "talk sense" into Lisa by pretending to be God as she prays, but Lisa, offended that her mother would eavesdrop on her prayers, is not to be swayed. Bart comes up with some religions she should consider taking up, but she shoots them all down. She goes for a walk, passing many sacrilegious signs; like Whiskey A God-God, Church of The Latter Day Druids, and Bed Bath & Bah'; until she happens upon Springfield's Buddhist temple. She enters and sees Lenny, Carl, and Hollywood actor Richard Gere inside. After hearing and reading about the virtues of Buddhism, she declares to everyone that she is a Buddhist. Stunned at the conversion, Marge tries unsuccessfully to bribe her back to Christianity. Lisa plants her own bodhi tree in the back yard, much to her mother's disapproval. At the church council, they decide to bribe Lisa back during the Christmas season using presents, using what looks like a pony named Clip Clop wrapped in paper (in actuality, it is Ralph and Milhouse wrapped inside). However, she gets wise to the fact that Reverend Lovejoy is outside watching and runs away. She runs to the Buddhist temple, where she complains about how her family tried to trick her into celebrating Christmas. Richard Gere informs her that while Buddhism is about one finding inner peace, it is also about respecting the diversity of other religions, as well as love and compassion. In other words, she can celebrate any holiday. Gere leaves to spend Christmas with his daughter, and Lenny and Carl leave to prevent Moe from attempting to kill himself (as he does every Christmas).
