It is named for Zebulon Pike, an explorer who led an expedition to the southern Colorado area in 1806. At 14,115 feet (4,302 m), it is one of Colorado's 54 fourteeners. Drivers race up the mountain in a famous annual race called the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. An upper portion of Pikes Peak is a federally designated National Historic Landmark.
PGeography and geology
Much of the fame of Pikes Peak is due to its location near the eastern edge of the Rockies. Unlike most other similarly tall mountains in Colorado, it serves as a visible landmark for many miles to the east, far into the Great Plains of Colorado. As one drives south on Interstate 25 towards the city of Colorado Springs, it comes into view from a distance of more than 130 miles (209 km). On a clear day, the peak can be seen from Denver (over 60 miles north), and from locations near the Kansas border to the east.
Pikes Peak is made of a characteristic pink granite, called Pikes Peak granite. The pink color is due to a large amount of potassium feldspar. The granite was formed by an igneous intrusion in the Pre-Cambrian age, approximately 1.05 billion years ago, during the Grenville orogeny.

During the period of exploration in Colorado, many would refer to the mountain as "Pike's Peak," after Zebulon Pike, the man who first documented it. Later, some suggested "James' Peak," after Edwin James, the man who first climbed it. The name went back and forth until it was settled as the former.
Originally the peak was called "Pike's Peak", but in 1891, the newly-formed US Board on Geographic Names recommended against the use of apostrophes in names, so officially the name of the peak does not include an apostrophe. In addition, in 1978 the Colorado state legislature passed a law mandating the use of "Pikes Peak" only. Even so, the old name is often seen.

Pikes Peak as seen from within Manitou Springs, Colorado.The first non-natives to sight Pikes Peak were the members of the Pike expedition, led by Zebulon Pike. After a failed attempt to climb to the top in November 1806, Pike wrote in his journal (emphasis added):
...here we found the snow middle deep; no sign of beast or bird inhabiting this region. The thermometer which stood at 9° above 0 at the foot of the mountain, here fell to 4° below 0. The summit of the Grand Peak, which was entirely bare of vegetation and covered with snow, now appeared at the distance of 15 or 16 miles [24--26 km] from us, and as high again as what we had ascended, and would have taken a whole day's march to have arrived at its base, when I believed no human being could have ascended to its pinical (sic -- "pinnacle" was intended). This with the condition of my soldiers who had only light overalls on, and no stockings, and every way ill provided to endure the inclemency of the region; the bad prospect of killing any thing to subsist on, with the further detention of two or three days, which it must occasion, determined us to return.
This entry has led to an oft-stated claim that Pike said no one had ever, nor would ever reach the top of Pikes Peak. Placed in context, he is making a reasonable assessment of his men's prospects of reaching the top in difficult circumstances

Because off the quality loss on youtube you really miss a lot of frames. I had real fun making this one. All my AMV's start with hearing a song and then the frames come flying in my head and before i know, i've finished a piece which i can be proud of. For some guys this is just copying - pasting et voila, but to me this is an expression, like art. I've heard this calling from my nephew and after the screaming part i just turned on another song (yeah i'm ashamed of myself xD) but after hearing the chorus i knew i had to make it. It's the first time i used Sony Vegas for making a AMV and i can recommend it to everyone, it's 10 times better then movie maker or pinnacle. the only problems i had was a buffer memory problem during rendering but i made it in two high quality pieces and then merged it together along with the intro credits and the end. Oh yeah and my computer got stuck so i lost 6 seconds, it took me two hours to regain it (thx to Dylan for asking me a beta so i could compare with what i had). (Tip: Be sure to set your autosave on) I Didn't used much of any special techniques, i used the Gaussian Blur, Motion Tracker for moving a bit around with some parts, Color Balance for some images to keep it good with the video. I Worked 1,5 weeks on this, everyday 4 or 6 six hours that makes a total of 32 hours. I used a cool Reverse (rollback) effect of the whole AMV viewed in two seconds at the end. While manual focusing can be a tedious process and subject to error, auto focusing is made easy with one-touch focus capability. Depending on the lens used, you can focus to a specific distance from the material for optimum quality. And, since the laser beam is five thousands (.005) of an inch in diameter, it's extremely accurate!

Cut and Engrave in a single pass!
Unlike rotary engraving where you need to change out tools for each process, the Pinnacle laser engravers will cut and engrave all with a beam of light. You'll waste less time setting up your engraver. All you need is your text or image along with an outline to cut out. The Pinnacle laser engraver will see the text or image just like a printer sees it. Then when it comes to the outline, it will follow the path to cut it out. When used along with the "sorting" feature this is a function that puts the Pinnacle laser above the competition.
-High Speed DC Servo Motor!
DC Servo Motor Servo control moves the motor to the desired position using an x/y coordinate. For example, when your computer tells the engraver or cutter that x=1000 and y=1000, the engraver or cutter will move to the location that corresponds to those numbers.
-3D Engraving
Produce true 3D images with 256 shades of gray Pinnacle laser engraver. Just use any grayscale photo with 256 shades of gray. The darker the shade of each pixel in the original photograph, the more power the laser applies. More power means deeper engraving.
The Pinnacle line of engravers takes this procedure to the most accurate representation of TRUE 3D engraving. Most lasers use a black and white mode, which use a density effect as opposed to 3D engraving which uses a power effect. With our 3D mode selection the power will ramp up higher for the darker portions and ramp down for the lighter portions.

Making a rubber stamp can be easy and cost effective when made properly. The Pinnacle makes your rubber stamp manufacturing easier by allowing you to set proper thickness and pitch. You don't have to worry about smudging or unclear lettering with stamp mode, which is always a standard on the Pinnacle laser engravers.

Buffer size is vital when engraving photos or any large images. When sending a photo to your engraver you will want to know that the whole image is getting there. There was NO script it was just a little test^^... For the light ( it was very dark in the room ) we used two very small "office lamps" usable for your desk.
