The artwork display in this show is different from her other pieces of art normally displayed for her performance art shows, because on the left of images are the title of the writing the image pertains to, and there is also a larger white space below the title to the left of the image. This is because for a change of pace, Janet Kuypers decided to actually sit directly in the projected image area for her show, This mean that she was really well-lit (by the projector, she even had to wear sunglasses for the show because of the light shining on her), and she was right next to her artwork as it was presented during her show. This film is of live video recorded from that performance. Here is the poem used in her show: — get me out of this cage you've been trying to censor me for God knows how long I don't know, maybe you didn't want to hear my views because you didn't believe those views should be expressed but you never knew what I stood for you never wanted my voice to be heard because you always thought of me as a possession and not a person yeah, I can be a real pain in the ass to anyone that doesn't want to hear me but you know what? people do want to listen people value the right to speak their minds and people know that if you take that away from someone you're taking it away from everyone so you can try to leave me in this locked cage you can try to keep me away from everyone else but you know, I've been clawing at the roof I can feel the grooves in the ceiling here from my fight but I still have nails on the tips of my fingers so I know I can keep clawing, I know I can keep fighting because I know I have more work to do and I'll get it done, I tell you I'll be free again your cage isn't air-tight I've seen light from outside when you've had me trapped and every once in a while, I've seen shadows and I'm sure there are people there you can't keep me trapped like this forever because people will hear my screams through the cracks in your precious cage and no, I don't care what kind of cage you put me in cause I'll keep fighting I'm strong like that, you know I don't want to hear that you think I go too far because as much as you try to oppress me as much as you try to repress me I'm supposed to have some inalienable rights here I've heard the way you think and I know you think I already have too many rights and I know you're a product of the MTV generation and I know you're addicted to playing video games yeah, you'd rather spend you time interacting with a story on a screen, with your precious little joystick, than actually talking to someone but just because you don't feel like reaching out to people doesn't mean you can force me into that cage again I suppose if you don't think if you don't watch the news if you don't interact with people, you think, why should anyone want to talk to people? if you want that for yourself, fine if you don't mind giving up rights because you have nothing to offer fine but the rest of the world doesn't think like you and we sure the Hell don't want you ruling over us since nine eleven, laws have been passed to legally take our rights away you know, to make us more safe fair trade, freedom for perceived safety but I'd rather fly in the face of danger in this country I'd rather make it on my own without the likes of you if it means I might be more free I'll look over my shoulder I'll watch out for myself I'll do whatever I have to to make sure that the likes of you can never stop the likes of me (Less)

Yes, the India that everyone talks about in terms of growth and globalization. Well this is the side that they do not want you to see. In the district of Keonjhar, where I grew up, you will find the largest reserves of Iron Ore in the world, and many other minerals. Till about 2001, these reserves were exploited by few. Then, began the sale of the Iron Ore fines to many countries, especially China. China bought it for its upcoming Beijing Olympics. The other countries bought it because it was cheap. You would argue that this should be good considering the amount of money that would pour into the coffers. Well, the money came in but never reached where it should have. The roads that were built to transport Iron Ore and fines in trucks that had a limit of 10 tons are today carrying 1000s of trucks that carry a minimum of 40 to 45 tons of iron ore. It has completely stripped them of the tar that covered them at one time and left them with potholes on both sides. There are stretches of roads, kilometers long, that have nothing on them. Compound this with the rains that prevail in the region and you are left with slippery mud roads which could break any vehicle!!! So no body wants to move the truck out to a side. Anyone in a smaller vehicle is literally fighting with death or a dangerous accident every minute. The above photograph was taken a month ago during a road strike. I have many more of these photographs. When you have a road that has thousands of trucks in a logjam for hundreds of kilometers, you can imagine the pandemonium. Let me give you a few examples on this. 1. About a year ago, my teacher died on this road. He died in an accident. 2. A few months before that, my brother's friend also passed away in an accident because of the roads and the trucks. 3. One of my father's colleagues died on his way to the hospital. He could not make it to the hospital because the ambulance could not move. He is survived by his wife and two sons. A happy family now stands broken. 4. In the past five years, at least 200 people (I am giving you the bare minimum numbers to make sure that I do not state any thing false) have died on these roads either in some form of an accident or due to inability to reach help in time. Let me give you a more frightening picture. In the past so many years, the District Magistrates in the area have come to this place and then left doing nothing. They have either spent the money on bridges that collapse with the onset of a flash flood or they have put scoops of mud into a road that already has enough of it. The government coffers have been filling in but now they want us to spend more in terms of taxes. In the meanwhile, everytime my family travels on those roads, I am scared. Please save this family from the people who have nothing but greed in their hearts. I have tons of such photographs and if you go now, you will be able to see death in its most naked form. (Less)

Does anyone else think that Sumgait didnt get the appropriate recognition within the Armenian Diaspora? In case you dont know what I mean by Sumgait:
The vigorous but mainly peaceful political activity in Karabakh and Yerevan was accompanied by a resumption of killings. On February 27, fanatical Azeri-Turks went on a three day rampage in Sumgait, a new industrial town 20 miles from Baku, murdering members of the town's large Armenian minority and destroying their property. According to the official Soviet account 32 died, but eyewitness reports strongly suggest the true figure runs into the hundreds. Marina Pogosyan, a young survivor of the Sumgait massacre, testified:
"On the twenty-sixth, a Friday, a friend of mine warned me to stay inside over the weekend. Still, I went to work - I taught in a nursery schood - and walked home at noon. That afternoon, there was another Azerbaijani rally, in downtown Sumgait, and then crowds of people went through the shopping area where Armenians worked, and broke windows and smashed things. I heard cries of 'Death to Armenians! Blood for blood!' It was mostly young people, and the police didn't stop thepn. Late that night, after we had gone to bed, we heard yelling on the street, and through the window I saw thousands of people in a mob marching through the street, most dressed in black, carrying clubs and Turkish flags with the half-moon. They were yelling, 'Get out! Armenians are killing our people and you're sitting here! We must purge our city! The next day, we went to a neighbor's in the building for. her birthday party. We talked about what we had seen, but we thought it was just young hooligans, fhen a neighbor boy came in, looking pale. We asked him what was happening, and he said: 'You don't know? They're killing and burning people out there, breaking into people's apartments.' We called the police, and they said: 'Stay where you are. You're not the only ones. We can't help you.' A Russian neighbor came to us and invited us to wait in her apartment. There were about three families with her - fifteen people. We spent the whole night there. The mob came and knocked on our door, and she went outside and told them that we were not there - that we'd moved a week ago. A few times after that, they passed by and broke into neighbors' apartments. By that time, no Armenians were home. So there were no killings (in her building-ed.), but there was a lot of destruction. They threw the chairs and the dishes out of the window. I had absolutely no hope that we'd survive. I figured they'd kill us all sooner or later. The mob came again, but on Monday soldiers came in tanks and took us to the Party committee building." (Cullen, 1991, pp. 66-7)
Marina Pogosyan and her family were allowed to collect money and a few possessions before being flown to Yerevan. Most of Sumgait's Armenian community survived the attacks. Many, like Miss Pogosyan, were sheltered by brave Russian and Azeri-Turk neighbours. But the fate of those who fell into the hands of the mob was cruel. Lola Avakyan, a 37-year-old Armenian resident of Sumgait was one of the unfortunate. Seized by an Azeri-Turk crowd, she was stripped and forced to dance before having her breasts slashed and body burned with cigarettes. She was raped and then killed. Several AzeriTurks were arrested and convicted for their involvement in the mayhem.
Sumgait postscript: On March 2, 1993, the Office of Azerbaijani Procurator announced that it had recommended that President Eichibey grant an amnesty to those convicted of violent offenses against Armenians during the Sumgait pogrom. The Procurator's Office reported that it expected the President to act according to its recommendation. On the same day, a proposal for the amnesty to be announced on May 28, 1993 - the 74th anniversary of the founding of the first Republic of Azerbaijan - was made in Azerbaijani parliament.
