Since I had some physical problem, on 12th of july, 2008, i visited the Government General Hospital {GH} in Pondicherry, India. I had to go to the Orthopaedics [room no. 29]. Patients of ortho problem were standing on the line even if there were BENCHES to sit. When i closely noticed, the benches were broken. In other words benches are also waiting outside with their fractured seat & supports accompanying the patients who come there for treatments for fracture & all. The only difference is the patients may be cured but not the benches. U can notice that no patients will be sitting on the benches; when I asked for the reason, they told that they were afraid to sit on those benches which may break at any time & they have to suffer some more pain when those benches break while they r sitting on them. U can notice that patients afraid to sit on those benches were standing , some were sitting on the floor. Then i met the doctor, then the usuals; Got the prescribed medicines. Actually the GH in Pondicherry is far better when compared to those in other places, got lots of equipments, better in surgery....But the real shock was when i went out of the GH....!!! When i went to take my vehicle, which was parked in front of the main entrance of the GH, to return back home, i saw a man in a red mini-dhoti lying down whom u could see in this clip. He was very weak, all bones were seen. He was covered by lots of flies. His lifeless eyes were opened & even those flies were sitting on his eyes. There was no movement. No one [including me] has taken any efforts to move that man to the hospital which was just 10 metres away. U could see: There is a tea stall where many take tea, one sitting on a stool & reading newspaper; surprisingly he was a police constable. He has never taken his eyes out of the newpaper. I presume that he is starved to death seeing his weak body. All were doing their work, even those who were some-what near to that body didn't show a single sign of pity. I was helpless at that time. I really cried seeing that body un-noticed even on the broad day-light where the population density is high particularly at that time. In order to show that it was the GH, i showed the Land marks that r in front of the GH. Since i had taken that video, that u r seeing, using my mobile [3gp format] the clarity is not good. I didn't go near that body since i was afraid. (Less)
