Although this incident seemed to be a simple misunderstanding to begin with but then culminated into unnecessary chaos that was blown way out of proportion, it should be noted that as Muslims, we respect all of the prophets--Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, and all the rest of them, peace be upon them.
Just think about how you would feel if someone tried to insult the person closest to you (your spouse, mother, father, grandparents, sibling, children, grandchildren, etc.). To Muslims, prophets are closer to us than all of those people.
Nonetheless, as this seemed to be a simple misunderstanding to begin with, they should have just simple changed the name of the teddy bear--there's no need to punish for such a simple and seemingly unintentional misunderstanding!

After choosing some names and voting, the students ended up with the name Muhammad.
The teacher is then "jailed for 15 days after insulting Islam's Prophet by allowing her pupils in Sudan to name a teddy bear Muhammad."
The teacher was also "suspended from her teaching post, and the school has closed until January."
I'm a Muslim.
What do I think from an Islamic perspective?
I think this is just silly.
The teacher didn't even choose the name.
Additionally, the bear wasn't named as such to offend.

So do you see the silliness we are dealing with?
Why didn't they simply just change the teddy bear's name?
This silly ordeal reminded me of another silly incident that previously happened in Sudan in which a Sudanese man had "been forced to take a goat as his 'wife', after he was caught having sex with the animal."
So it seems this is just another one of Sudan's silly and ignorant non-Islamic verdicts.
However, one must keep in mind the massive underreporting and extreme bias on behalf of the media.
Although both this teddy bear and the goat incident occurred in Sudan,
Things like this are a rarity in Sudan.
Not only that, but the ones passing these verdicts are even more rare.
Most Sudanese do not agree with these two rulings.
But in the end, it was up to the ones passing the verdict.
And in these two cases, silly ignorance prevailed.
Although ignorant, the media jumps on it and passes it off as something from Islam.
But in reality, Islam is entirely free from such ignorance.
It makes one remember the hadith of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh):
"Narrated Anas:
Allah's Apostle said, 'From among the portents of the Hour are (the following):
1. Religious knowledge will be taken away (by the death of Religious learned men).
2. (Religious) ignorance will prevail.
3. Drinking of alcoholic drinks (will be very common).
4. There will be prevalence of open illegal sexual intercourse.'"

This teddy bear issue in Sudan is a prime example of this ignorance that was prophesied over 1400 years ago by the final messenger (pbuh).
May God rid the world of this ignorance.
And what better way to do this than to follow the advice of God, Himself?
"Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists),
Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood).
Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous,
Who has taught (the writing) by the pen.
Has taught man that which he knew not."

"'Abdullah b. 'Umar reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Three persons set out on a journey. They were overtaken by rain and they had to find protection in a mountain cave where at its mouth there fell a rock of that mountain and thus blocked them altogether. One of them said to the others: Look to your good deeds that you performed for the sake of Allah and then supplicate Allah, the Exalted, that He might rescue you (from this trouble). One of them said: 0 Allah, I had my parents who were old and my wife and my small children also. I tended the flock and when I came back to them in the evening, I milked them (the sheep, goats, cows, etc.) and first served that milk to my parents. One day I was obliged to go out to a distant place in search of fodder and I could not come back before evening and found them (the parents) asleep. I milked the animals as I used to milk and brought milk to them and stood by their heads avoiding to disturb them from sleep and I did not deem it advisable to serve milk to my children before serving them. My children wept near my feet. I remained there in that very state and my parents too until it was morning. And (0 Allah) if Thou art aware that I did this in order to seek Thine pleasure, grant us riddance from this trouble. (The rock slipped a bit) that they could see the sky. The second one said: 0 Allah, I had a female cousin whom I loved more than the men love the women. I wanted to have sexual intercourse with her; she refused but on the condition of getting one hundred dinirs. It was with very great difficulty that I could collect one hundred dinirs and then paid them to her and when I was going to have a sexual intercourse with her, that she said: Servant of Allah, fear Allah and do not break the seal (of chastity) but by lawful means. I got up. 0 Allah, if Thou art aware that I did this in order to seek Thine pleasure, rid us from this trouble. The situation was somewhat eased for them. The third one said : Allah, I employed a workman for a measure of rice. After he had finished his work I gave him his dues (in the form of) a measure of rice, but he did not accept them. I used these rice as seeds ,and that gave a bumper crop and I became rich enough to have cows and flocks (in my possession). He came to me and said: Fear Allah, and commit no crueltv upon me in regard to my dues. I said to him : Takeaway this flock of cows and sheep. He said: Fear Allah and do not make a fun of me. I said: I am not making a fun of you. You take the cows and the flocks. So he took them. 0 Allah, if Thou art aware that I did it for Thine pleasure, case the situation for us. And Allah relieved them from the rest of the trouble."

Muslims pray five times a day; these five prayers are known as Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha. There is also a special Friday prayer called Jumu'ah.
Most Muslims accept as a Muslim anyone who has publicly pronounced the Shahadah, which states, "There is none worthy of worship except God, and Muhammad is His Messenger." Currently, there are an estimated 1.4 billion Muslims, making it the second largest religion in the world.

Today let us examine evidence from Islamic texts demonstrating that Mohammad was a bisexual transvestite who had sex with a corpse. As this video will deal in detail with the sexual deeds of Mohammad, it is rated NC-18 and all children should leave this video immediately!
This evidence has been presented by Coptic priest Father Zakaria Botros. I reviewed the translated and summarized extracts posted on Jihad Watch. As I may not have time to review and comment on the complete three post series, I recommend it to those that want to learn more about the life and deeds of Mohammad. Ill put links in the side bar.

Mohammad was documented to have had sex with 66 different women. Sirat Al-Halabi and Ibn Saad discuss Mohammads insatiable sexual appetite for women. A husband would have to divorce his wife so that Mohammad could have sex with her. Mohammad felt justified in having sex with a woman against her will.
Included in the Sunan Bayhaqi and Al Halabi is the story of Zahir, who reported that Mohammad loved him. [Zahir was a dude.] One day, Mohammad snuck up on Zahir from behind and grabbed him in a bear hug. Zahir protested until he realized that it was Mohammad; at which point, Zahir pressed his back against Mohammads chest. To maintain cultural context here, I remind you that Arabs like to do it camel-style.
The Sunan Bayhaqi and Sunan Abu Dawud also report that Mohammad lifted up his shirt for a man to kiss his torso from bellybutton to armpits. Is that gay or do Muslim guys do that to each other all the time? If it is not gay, please make a discreet response video demonstrating this cultural practice and indicate whether or not a lot of tongue action is involved.
Botros cites 20 Islamic sources reporting that Mohammad sucked the tongues of children, both boys and girls; including, according to Ahmad bin Hanbal, his cousin Alis sons Hassan and Hussein; are the Shiites cool with that? Mohammad also reportedly sucked his daughter Fatimas tongue. Mohammad had to kiss his daughter Fatima and nuzzle his face in her bosom before he could sleep at night. Are these a common Muslim practice toward children? If so, please explain the omitted cultural context in the comments.
In the Musnad of Ahmad bin Hanbal, Mohammad sees a toddler (2-3 years old) and says that he will marry her once she is of age. I assume that by of age Mohammad is following the rule old enough to bleed, old enough to breed. The Sunan of Bin Said reports that Mohammad hugged a child and desired her greatly.
Although the translation did not provide citations, there is a hadith reporting Mohammad lying in a grave with a dead woman, and numerous hadiths categorized as him having intercourse with a dead woman.
Botros reports 32 different references, including within Sahih Bukhari, of Mohammad wearing womens clothes. He especially liked to wear the clothes of his child bride Aisha, because they were the only womens clothing he could wear while receiving revelations for the Koran from Allah, as cited in Sahih Bukhari.
