ANDREA BENETTI è nato a Bologna il 15 gennaio del 1964. La sua prima personale di pittura a Bologna, per tutto il mese di aprile 2006, presso la St'Art Gallery. Il titolo della mostra è "Piccolo vocabolario delle definizioni sospese", nella quale egli scelse di non trattare un unico tema, ma di spaziare sui tanti temi di attualità sociale, che vanno dalla spiritualità, alla politica, dall'ambiente, allo psicosomatismo. Per Benetti vi è un filo conduttore in tutto ciò, ovvero l'amore per lo studio della storia del '900. Egli possiede, infatti, un archivio con oltre trecento documentari di storia del XX secolo ed una infinità di libri, sempre sullo stesso tema. Sarà infatti questa sua passione a fargli intuire immediatamente l'importanza storica delle stragi dell'11 settembre; egli raccoglierà, fin da subito, oltre 75 quotidiani nazionali ed internazionali, riportanti la tragica notizia in prima pagina. Dal 2004, iniziò ad ideare, dopo aver letto parecchi libri sul tema, una mostra composta da undici gigantografie delle prime pagine internazionali di quell'infausto giorno, intervallate da quattro opere pittoriche, realizzate in collaborazione con Lanfranco Di Rico (teologo ed insegnante di religione); realizzò anche, con Nicola Roversi (montatore televisivo ed assistente di scenografia all'accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna), un cortometraggio dal titolo "New York 848", della durata di 3'20''. Il filmato è una raccolta delle immagini delle stragi, elaborate e montate artisticamente e riprodotte a ciclo continuo su un monitor, incastonato all'interno di una scultura a forma di parallelepipedo irregolare, realizzata quest'ultima con Lanfranco di Rico. La suddetta mostra, in ricordo delle Vittime dell'11 settembre 2001, si è tenuta in centro a Pescara, dal 4 al 12 gennaio 2007, presso il Museo delle Genti d'Abruzzo, patrocinata dalla Provincia e dall'assessorato alla cultura del Comune di Pescara. Nel giugno 2007 è stata acquisita nella collezione permanente della Pinacoteca Nazionale Amedeo Modigliani (Follonica - Italia) una sua opera dal titolo "Il ciclo della vita". Nel luglio 2007 è stata acquisita nella collezione permanente del Museo di Arte Italiana in America, sita presso l'ambasciata italiana in Costa Rica, una sua opera dal titolo "Estate". Attualmente sono in corso altre acquisizioni nelle collezioni permanenti di alcuni musei (Australia, Spagna, UK, USA, Costa Rica) In June 2007, the MUSEUM AMEDEO MODIGLIANI (Follonica -- Italy) acquired in its PERMANENT COLLECTION, the Benetti's art work named "Il ciclo della vita". Billy MacKenzie was born and grew up in Dundee. As a youngster, he lived in Park Avenue in the Stobswell area and attended Glebelands Primary School and Morgan Academy Secondary School. He led a peripatetic lifestyle, which included decamping to New Zealand at the age of 16, and travelling across America aged 17. Here, to avoid deportation, he married Chloe Dummar. Her brother, Melvin Dummar, claimed to be the "one sixteenth" beneficiary of the estate of Howard Hughes, until the case was thrown out in 1978. He returned to Scotland where he met Alan Rankine and in 1976 formed the Ascorbic Ones. They changed the name to The Associates in 1979. The Associates continued until 1990, after which MacKenzie embarked on a solo career. MacKenzie collaborated with more than a few artists during his career, including contributions to seminal Swiss outfit Yello's "One Second" album in 1987. MacKenzie provided vocals and wrote lyrics for two tracks on that release, and one "The Rhythm Divine" became a hit European single when legendary diva Shirley Bassey was recruited for vocals (Billy's original vocal track was no less powerful and saw release on the CD version of The Associates "Popera" compilation). On January 22, 1997, depression and the death of his mother are believed to have contributed to MacKenzie's suicide. He overdosed on prescription drugs in his father's garden shed. He was 39 years old. Now a significant cult figure, much of his musical legacy has been released in the past few years. He was the subject of a biography by Tom Doyle, The Glamour Chase in 1998. The Smiths' song "William, It Was Really Nothing" is said to have been written about Billy. Morrissey, lyricist and lead vocalist of the band, allegedly had a bit of a crush on him, and they were friends for a while. The Cure song "Cut Here" written by Robert Smith, a friend of MacKenzie, is about his suicide. Siouxsie Sioux wrote the song "Say" about his suicide, revealing in the lyrics that they were going to meet just before his suicide. The song was released as a single in 1999 and charted in the UK Top 75. In 2006, Norwegian singer/songwriter Rockettothesky had a massive radio hit with the song "Barrie For Billy MacKenzie" MacKenzie's range was most often described as "startling", and his high-register singing is easily mistaken for a female's voice, though his lower register tones leave little doubt as to his gender. + (Less)

The song is from the Rhodope region The Voyager Golden Record is a phonograph record included in the two Voyager spacecraft launched in 1977. It contains sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth. It is intended for any intelligent extraterrestrial life form, or far future humans, that may find it. The Voyager spacecraft will take about 40,000 years to come near another star, 'near' meaning in this case within around 1.7 light-years' distance; hence, if other beings do not come in the direction of the spacecraft to meet them, it will take at least that long for the Golden Record to be found. As the probes are extremely small compared to the vastness of interstellar space, it is extraordinarily unlikely that they will ever be intercepted. If they are ever found by an alien species, it will be far in the future, and thus the record is best seen as a symbolic statement rather than a serious attempt to communicate with aliens. The contents of the record were selected for NASA by a committee chaired by Carl Sagan of Cornell University. Dr. Sagan and his associates assembled 115 images and a variety of natural sounds, such as those made by surf, wind, and thunder, and animal sounds, including the songs of birds and whales. To this they added musical selections from different cultures and eras, and spoken greetings from Earthlings in fifty-five languages, and printed messages from President Jimmy Carter and U.N. After NASA had received criticism over the nudity on the Pioneer plaque (line drawings of a naked man and woman), the agency chose not to allow Sagan and his colleagues to include a photograph of a nude man and a nude, pregnant woman on the record. Here is an excerpt of President Carter's official statement placed on the Voyager spacecraft for its trip outside our solar system, June 16, 1977: We cast this message into the cosmos... Of the 200 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy, some — perhaps many — may have inhabited planets and space faring civilizations. If one such civilization intercepts Voyager and can understand these recorded contents, here is our message: We are trying to survive our time so we may live into yours. We hope some day, having solved the problems we face, to join a community of Galactic Civilizations. This record represents our hope and our determination and our goodwill in a vast and awesome universe. The 115 images are encoded in analog form. The remainder of the record is audio, designed to be played at 16⅔ revolutions per minute.
