Bulk and Skull's talent show pretty much sums up any career of 70s-80s progressive rock. And of course, once again Angel Grove relies on the same "different equals bad!" schtick, as well as the "Power Rangers are the Second Coming" where in effect, there is a preemptive prejudice against anything Bulk and Skull do, and the Power Rangers are once again spoiled by comparison. Well, at least Kimberly clapped! Rolling down hills in barrels is another high point for Bulk and Skull. Once again the Power Rangers coerce them into roughousing, which results in potentially consequential physical distress to Bulk and/or Skull. This is what Bulk and Skull do best (among other things). Theories abound as to who "Biff" is, and how Bulk and Skull found and convinced this kid to hang around with them. I get the feeling he isn't a younger brother, even if he does dress like and have similar hair to Bulk. If he was related, that would be a chance to throw in a pointless detail, plus if that was the case there would be an obligation to reveal this to the audience. Maybe Bulk and Skull scoured playgrounds in one of their many healthy perambulations and sought out some aggressive demon child (all children are Satan) to do their bidding. All this in the episode where Red Ranger gets eaten whole and then molested with tentacles. See, this show DOES have its great moments! The Bulk and Skull Coach Karate match ends by showing that Bulk and Skull taught Biff to show respect for one's opponent. What a nice sentiment. Now if only the Power Rangers would show Bulk and Skull that same respect. Video presentations. Is there a school project teachers can come up with that isn't stupid? I guess it's hard to think clearly when you're morbidly underpaid, and when you teach a bunch of little children it must be easy to get delusionally peppy. Of course, these are high school students they're teaching, which means the class has already beome jaded, which ironically would give students and teachers a common ground. That coupled with their mutual denial. Of course, this might sound a little cynical, especially from a background of encountering teachers with sexist/pedophilic tendencies, anger/ego issues, and substance abuse problems. Still, one wonders how that translates into wasting landfills worth of posterboard, believing Power Point is a functional program, and so on. I can sort of see how they don't care how much money students need to blow in order to get even a mediocre grade granted to them, and their perfunctory ignorance about the fact the internet's just an electronic media for books. Too much liquor and porno, I guess, but who can blame them for that when 90% of high school students are ghetto trash whose only understood response to ANY form of stimuli is to stab/shoot/smoke something? Ah, projects. A Sisyphean ordeal through and through. So how many times have YOU made a collage out of Henry Hudson? More than eight yet? I almost cut out a shot of Jason/Kimberly/Billy shaking their heads, because it was wholly uncalled for. Bulk and Skull haven't even sat down yet and already they're receiving smarmy pretentiousness from their preppy classmates. Bulk shows respect for his teacher, and why shouldn't he? Ms. Appleby has just about as much neurosis as the next "nice" facade archetype teacher, and who can't pity her for that? Maybe what I should've kept in is Trini's video of intentionally-planted pollution. If you want to cut down on pollution, cut down on drunk white trash and corporations. A touching moment is had when Skull propounds to Bulk that they do the scene together, and Bulk consents. And then Bulk and Skull embark upon another classic Jackie Gleason/Art Carney scheme. Jackie Gleason/Art Carney. Paulie Schrier/Jason Narvy. COINCIDENCE?? The news anchors in Angel Grove always "just got in word". Don't they do any investigating journalism themselves, like other slavering-dog sensationalist media whores? What can be said about Bulk and Skull's Bulk-promoting video? An unevenness in their duality? A strength in their togetherness? The episode ends with the Power Rangers setting up B&S for another pratfall. Only idiots would stack things like that! Where the hell the tire comes from remains a mystery to this day. California's just like that. I give Bulk and Skull's video an A+. (Less)
