Dancing came to her almost as (More) Ranjini, a native of Richmond, Virginia, first started singing at the age of five. She was classically trained in the Indian school of music by her mother, Uma Ettigi. Dancing came to her almost as early as singing did. Since she was six, she has been trained in an Indian dance art form known as Bharatanatyam. She's no stranger to the stage, having performed in Canada, India, and throughout the United States. But she didn't just want to stick to the Indian arts. On her own, Ranjini learned how to play the piano by ear until her parents decided to formally seek out a piano teacher. Ever since, the piano has been Ranjini's primary instrument. She also plays an Indian stringed instrument called the veena (an ancestor of the sitar). Growing up, listening to artists like Brian McKnight, Stevie Wonder, and Whitney Houston, among others, she naturally gravitated towards pop/R&B in developing her own vocal style. Dealing with the pressures from Indian society to follow a more practical career path, this girl decided to follow her heart, her love for music. Defying all odds, she fell under the mentorship of Quincy "Q" Patrick, CEO of Qwilite Entertainment, who was instrumental in the launch of industry mogul Clive Davis's J Records by writing the label's first two gold records. He has composed hits for some of the hottest names in the music industry: Alicia Keys, Usher, Joe, Luther Vandross, Babyface, and countless others. "Q" has taken Ranjini's artistry to a whole new level. At the pivotal age of nineteen, she decided to put her college career at NYU on hold to whole-heartedly pursue her dream as a recording artist. After honing her craft as a singer, songwriter, and performer, Ranjini's sweet, sultry voice combined with that authentic Indian flair, puts her in a league with the hottest female artists of the new millennium. http://www.myspace.com/ranjinimusic http://www.qwilite.com/ (Less) Channel: youtube

The meeting was addressed by Dan Coughlin the Executive Director of Manhattan Neighborhood Network about the status of the Public Access movement with particular emphasis upon the situation in New York City but also with much consideration of the movement in a national perspective. Many questions were asked by the assembled people. Of particular importance the was the presence of Eugenia Dean who was recognized and warmly welcomed by the members of the audience. Sidney Dean himself has been recognized as one of the singularly important "Founding Fathers" of the public Access movement -- particularly at an institutional level around the yeas 1970. Dean died at an age of 91 in 1997 but Eugenia is carrying on with encouraging his vision of democratizing multi media communications in keeping with the consequences for Good (and Ill) as the expanding power of technology alters the capabilities of an ever changing Zeitgeist. ACAP is also very interested in highlighting the unique contributions and the pioneering role of Public Access -- it was there long before the Internet -- at a foundational level of consideration. Fellow MNN producer Paula Gloria streamed the meeting from her laptop computer, a harbinger of what's to come as multi media communications morphs into the cell phone universe on a planetary scale. We thank her enormously for her pioneering efforts. Joe Friendly the veteran Public Access programmer videotaped the event - as he has so nobility done with other events over the years. He created this video and we thank him very much for making it available. The meeting was a little less than two hours long and this is part 2 of a two part presentation. Many differences of opinion as to options and priorities were voiced and in the interest of transparency we videotaped the meeting for the record. This is the second portion (40 mins. +-) of the meeting. The first portion of the meeting was posted separately. While this is posted on the you tube account of Harold Channer and will be more appropriately be posted on the www.ACAPTV.NET website soon. (Less) Channel: youtube

For one, they are the only duo to feature both a male and a female lead vocalist, seamlessly integrating Baby Psycho's aggressive freestylin' skills with counterpart Orquídea Negra's smooth romantic stylings. For another, they are the only Reggaeton act that can claim to be of American origin. Though they are both of Dominican descent, the duo were raised in New York City, influenced significantly more by artists the likes of 2Pac, Nas and Busta Rhymes, as opposed to the more traditional Latin Music that currently defines the genre. But LDA have not come to define the genre -- they have come to reinvent it. LDA brings a new approach to Reggaeton, one honed on the underground of the New York club scene. Their version of Reggaeton is equal parts Latin hip-hop, east coast rap, sexy sultry vocals and even twinges of electronica. Together, the pair has achieved a sound so unique amongst their peers, it earned them honors as personal protégés to Reggaeton's most esteemed producer, Boy Wonder, who spotlighted them in his landmark Chosen Few: El Documental CD/DVD documentary -- and who already has them set to be the featured act for his highly-anticipated Chosen Few 2. The Chosen Few project was LDA's first big breakthrough, prominently featuring four of the duo's songs on the milestone CD/DVD combo and further providing them with the opportunity to remix a fifth, Don Omar's global rallying anthem, "Reggaeton Latino." It also contains their curio track, "Flossy," which -- with its blatant electronica overtones -- may be the most extraordinarily unorthodox song produced within the bounds of the Reggaeton genre. LDA's best-known song from Chosen Few, "Hoy," marked their first smash single (hitting the Top 5 on R&R's Latin Club Chart), as well as pairing them with another hot rising Reggaeton star, Cheka. LDA and Cheka would both go on to make a splash in the hugely-popular El Draft 2005 competition, conceived by esteemed genre producer Chencho -- half of famed duo, Plan B, and also alumni of the Chosen Few. According to Boy Wonder, Chencho wanted LDA's track, "Estoy En Mi Cama," for his new project so badly, "he even let me co-produce El Draft just to get it!" LDA have developed a unified philosophy for their music of open-mindedness, daring experimentalism and the incorporation of differing cultural influences -- all while still keeping Reggaeton's essence at heart -- and framed by what Psycho describes as "a New York in-your-face hip-hop attitude." LDA's success from the Chosen Few juggernaut led to hit collaborations with Reggaeton icons including N.O.R.E., Fat Joe and Zion y Lennox. And, of course, they are a featured act in Boy Wonder's highly-anticipated Chosen Few 2 project. Two of their singles have already hit the charts from Chosen Few 2. The first single they work closely with Zion y Lennox in "Te Invitan Al Party" and the second single is the highly noted crossover "Freakitona" remix that Features Plan B, Trick Daddy, and Trina. Finally, LDA will take the time to record their eagerly-awaited debut CD, with highly-impressive roster of guest artists for which is being kept tightly under wraps. Japanese army troops massacred many Chinese in Nanjing (then called Nanking) in late 1937 and early 1938, and Chang not only believed that the horrible event was in danger of being forgotten but also accused Japanese society of collective denial about it. Translated into many languages, her book galvanized a redress movement in the United States. It was lauded in the U.S. media, drew criticism from several U.S. scholars on Japan and was vilified by right-wing publications in Japan. ......Chang's most recent book, "The Chinese in America," was named one of the best books of the year by The Chronicle. Her first book, "Thread of the Silkworm," told the story of the Chinese scientist who guided the development of China's Silkworm missile. Born in Princeton, N.J., Chang grew up in Champaign-Urbana, Ill., where her parents are professors at the University of Illinois. Her grandparents' escape from Nanjing fed her early interest in what happened there. She received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Illinois and worked briefly as a reporter for the Chicago Tribune and Associated Press before entering a master's program at Johns Hopkins University in 1990. She appeared on the cover of Reader's Digest as well as on many TV programs, including "Nightline" and "NewsHour With Jim Lehrer," and she wrote for numerous publications, including the New York Times and Newsweek.
