For every purchase of Brusters NEW product in the month of April, the company will donate 25 cents to BBBS. The product? It is the ultimate in sweet treats. A light, refreshing parfait made with Brusters creamy vanilla ice cream and fresh fruity sorbet made with real fruit. Kim Piper, Vice President of Marketing, Brusters Real Ice Cream, made the announcement at a press conference held April 6th at Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park with assistance from Amanda Kozak, Miss Georgia 2006. Kozak is a strong advocate for BBBS, as well as a Big Sister herself. "Mentoring is at the heart of Brusters," said Jim Sahene, CEO, Bruster's Real Ice Cream. "Our franchisees serve as mentors everyday to the kids they employ. For many of these kids Brusters is a first job, which can make a real impact on their future. That is why our partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters is so important." The Brusters parfait is available in four mouthwatering flavors, including strawberry, peach, black raspberry and mango (flavors vary by day and location). "Our overall goal is to raise more than $100,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters," added Sahene. "The parfait sale donation is only the first of many fundraising efforts." The company is also in development of a signature Brusters item, which will be announced in early May. According to Piper, it will make a great Mothers Day gift. This cheesecake is better than any no-bake cheesecake mix that you would buy in the store. You have to try this one. Recipe: (courtesy of Linda's Low Carb) http://www.genaw.com/lowcar... CREAMY NO-BAKE CHEESECAKE 1 packet unflavored gelatin 3/4 cup vanilla flavored sugar free syrup 24 ounces cream cheese, softened 1 cup heavy cream, whipped "Graham Cracker" Pie Crust * Prepare crust according to recipe for baked crust. In a small pot, sprinkle gelatin over 1/2 cup syrup and let soften 5 minutes. Heat and stir over low heat to dissolve gelatin completely. Beat cream cheese with remaining 1/4 cup syrup until creamy. Gradually beat in gelatin mixture. Chill until slightly thickened, about 1 hour, gently whisking occasionally to prevent lumps. Fold in whipped cream. Pour into crust and chill until set. Mine looked set after 2 hours, but I recommend chilling at least 6 hours. Makes 12 servings Freezing not recommended Per Serving: 368 Calories; 37g Fat; 7g Protein; 4g Carbohydrate; 1g Dietary Fiber; 3g Net Carbs "GRAHAM CRACKER" PIE CRUST 3 ounces almond flour, 3/4 cup 3 tablespoons flax meal 1/4 teaspoon salt 6 tablespoons butter, melted 1/3 cup granular Splenda or equivalent liquid Splenda Mix dry ingredients in a small bowl. Add Splenda to melted butter; pour over dry ingredients. Mix well and spread in 9" pie plate or springform pan. Bake at 375º about 10-12 minutes until set and lightly browned. Cool, then fill pie. They give no quarter, attacking the old, the infirmed, and this weekend a poor young youth hunter. First time turkey hunter too, totally defenseless. They put a spittin and drummin old tom 5 steps from young Alex and then yanked him away in a cruel twist of fate. They say turkeys can see you think, this tom had 4 hidden turkey hunters mentally pleading for him to just take 2 more steps and BANG!!!! His hidden turkey powers allowed him to sniff us out I think. Luckiest bird on that mountain Saturday. Alex took it like a man, hollering like a gutshot dog all the way back to the Henshaw cafe for breakfast. He asked if turkey hunting was always this soul crushing? No really, Alex was a trooper, stayin out all day both days in the cold. That's the hard part, them chilly 3 hour waits some times. I took a 2nd jacket Sunday, it was that nip. 45F it said on the truck temp gauge but there was a stiff wind that made it feel 33F. Thanks to Bill for the help, the room and the stories. Always kewl to share the woods with you. Thank you also for not bringin any of them snakes back. I hate hunting with snake charmers, they always want to show you their new friend. He made up for that by driving us over the Julian Pie Co Friday while we were scouting. Man them boysenberry/apple pies are worth dying over. Glass of moo juice and a small scoop of French Vanilla ice cream and we were in heaven. Big thanks for the Mendenhalls for the hospitality. Joel, Frank and Janice. Gary too. Big shout out to our guide Saturday, Tim Brown. He reeled in a monarch tom that no one else could fool from 500 yards. Dropped him right in our lap like a newborn baby. Bill had the dekes in a jake next to a short staked hen and then a seperate voyouer hen by the side. Why he suddenly broke strut and putted no one will ever know. I suspect a tip off from the turkey gods. Good times chasin turkey birds in the hills around Lake Henshaw.
