In response to peron75/WhattheBuck/Buck with "Why wait to be happy?" As a newbie 'Tuber, one quickly notices a number of things: 1) the sheer volume of negative comments. 2) many of these comments are not directed at critiquing the content of the video or the quality of the performance, but are aimed directly at the performer. 3) generally, the more bilious the hater comment, the worse the spelling. 4) the more popular the video, the greater the proportion of hater comments. 5) many of the most vicious comments come from people who have not made any videos themselves. 6) most of the blog-type videos on YouTube are not very interesting or entertaining. 7) a small proportion of the stuff being produced is very good. Interesting, creative, entertaining and funny. Certainly better than most of what one sees in the mainstream media. Let us not stifle the creativity of those who are working hard to be entertaining. Let us put bigotry and prejudice aside and focus on having fun. I don't like bullies. My attitude is "If you wanna pick on someone, pick on me." I know that someone like Buck can probably look after himself just fine; he seems to be able to handle the waves of homophobia in a positive and constructive way. I'm sure he realises that to get where he wants to go, he'll have to handle a lot of negativity. But he's got some life experience on his side. What about the younger bloggers, brimming with creativity and talent, who are being terrorised into silence by all that misguided anger? Does it really matter what they look like, if they have a contribution to make? Let's give them a chance to do their thing. Nonetheless, I expect to get hater comments from both sides of the spectrum: Homophobic straight men accusing me of being a closet queen/fag/faggit/fagit/faggot/fagot (the variations in spelling are almost endless); angry gay men telling me I'm being presumptuous and paternalistic because they don't need any help in defending themselves. So be it. All comments are welcome. Let's get a bit of a debate going. Just try to think before you type, okay. Most insults say more about the person behind the finger than in front of it. You go, Bucky. Keep up the good work. Thumbs up from South Africa. If someone knows this guy, please ask him to comment on my video. These ones are sort of relevant: naked, pants, butt, ass, sexuality and underwear.
