The group was a popular live act for several years, but their only mainstream hit single was "Seaside Shuffle" (1972), released under the one-off nom de disque Terry Dactyl and The Dinosaurs, "Seaside Shuffle" was an unashamedly commercial disc, quite at odds with the Thunderbolts' usual style, and reached number 2 in the UK Singles Chart. Following appearances on the Stiff package tours, he finally scored a solo hit with the humorous synthpop number, "You'll Always Find Me in the Kitchen at Parties" (1980) - (right) which made the British Top 20. Although his next single "Big Shot - Momentarily" failed to make any impact, by the end of the year he was back in the charts with what became his biggest (and, to date, last) UK hit, "Stop The Cavalry". He was, however, to reach No 2 on the Australian charts in 1981 with "Louise (We Get It Right)". Although now one of Britain's (and, incidentally, Germany's) most familiar Christmas singles, "Stop The Cavalry" was not originally intended as a Christmas song it was released in late November after the record company spotted the line referring to the festival: 'I wish I was at home, for Christmas' . Not only this but the specific style of the brass instruments and bells in the chorus are very noticeable as a "Christmas" style theme. The melody is loosely based on a theme from Swedish Rhapsody No. 1 by Hugo Alfvn. The tune and style of "Stop The Cavalry" was later parodied for a series of catchy and humorous TV adverts for John Smith's beer. In December 2005, Lewie was recruited by Channel 4 to record a new Christmas record with other old stars who had Christmas hits, on "Bring Back The Christmas Number One". The lyrics of Lewie's hit "You'll Always Find Me in the Kitchen at Parties" were written by Keef Trouble. Jona continues to perform live as a solo artist and is currently recording a new album for release in 2008. (Less)

The majority in attendance were disappointed when the Oklahoma-bred Paint star was beaten for the first time in his brilliant 17-race career. The $28,250 Mr. Lewie Memorial Handicap set the stage for Got Country Grip and his 17th straight victory which would have made him the lone North American racehorse to win that many races in a row. However, after the 400-yard race, a tough and gritty effort by Bust N Moves did in Got Country Grip. The upset was one of the greatest in Remington Park's 20-year history. Owned by the Cowboys and Indians partnership of Inola, Okla. and trained by Dee Keener, Bust N Moves came from behind to catch the early-leading Got Country Grip and then defeat him by a head. Under Adalberto Candanosa, Bust N Moves crossed the finish in :19.995 over the fast track. The victory was bittersweet for Keener who holds the utmost respect for Got Country Grip. "We came in here the underdog but I knew this horse could run at this distance," Keener noted. "Got Country Grip is one heck of a horse, you can't take anything from him. He is a super horse, an awesome horse. I just hate that we were the ones to beat him. I wish he would have broken the record but that's horseracing." Got Country Grip's trainer Brandon Parum had no tremendous reason to explain why his star was beaten for the first time in his career. "I don't have any excuses, I mean he ran his race. He left the gates good and made the lead. Bust N Moves came up there and hooked him. He tried with all he had, he just didn't get there. There was just one better than him today." G.R. Carter, jockey for Got Country Grip echoed Parum's thoughts. "He got away good and just never put Bust N Moves away. He seemed to get a little tired at the end. He sure flattened out which is unlike him. I give Bust N Moves credit, he flat beat us. It's tough to take but that's horseracing. All good things must come to an end." Away at 3-1 odds, Bust N Moves paid $8.80 to win and $2.10 to place. Got Country Grip paid $2.10 to place. There was no show wagering as the Mr. Lewie had a four-horse field. A 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred Paint gelding by Judys Lineage from the Moving Effort mare Meaningfully, Bust N Moves earned $17,500 in placing the first blemish on the record of Got Country Grip. His 10th career win from 18 starts and his third victory at Remington Park helped push his overall bankroll to $160,913. (Less)

Jona Lewie (singing) is the only original Terry Dactyl member to have taken part in this 1973 broadcast for the German TV show 'Hits A GoGo.' After his disc recording of 'On a Saturday Night' respected blues guitarist Graham Hine left Terry Dactyl / Brett Marvin to pursue his own musical direction with the Blue Goose record label; Jona Lewie (John Lewis) was soon to leave too. The mandolin player here is Tim Branston, taking Graham's part. As Terry Dactyl's Keef Trouble and John Randall didn't make it to Germany, it was Jona Lewie who fronted this song with the members of Tim Branston's own band, 'The Jawbone Jug Band.' Tim tells the story of how they were met at the airport by a limo complete with young ladies, provided by the studio. Apparently the rehearsal for this broadcast produced a better performance, the silly dance being suggested by the studio director. Unfortunately, copious amounts of alcohol were available. Terry Dactyl and the Dinosaurs was the 'popular' name given to 'Brett Marvin and the Thunderbolts' for promotional purpose. Jona Lewie was a Brett Marvin vocalist, and their keyboard player, later replaced by Taffy Davies. Graham Hine eventually rejoined Brett Marvin, and the line up remains as it was, including: Graham Hine: guitar/vocals Pete Gibson: percussion/vocals Taffy Davies: keyboard/vocals Keef Trouble: percussion/guitar/vocals Jim Pitts: harmonica/sax/vocals John Randall: percussion Brett Marvin and the Thunderbolts, playing for 40 years, is one of the longest still-performing blues outfits with original line-up.
