He added that he will use the FBI in that context. On December 6, Michael Hayden director of the CIA, acknowledged that, in 2005, the agency destroyed a number of tapes that recorded controversial interrogation techniques by its personnel. Given the resulting scandal, on December 8 the Justice Department opened a preliminary investigation to determine whether there were sufficient aspects to justify a criminal investigation. Democratic representatives and human rights organizations have called for a full investigation, stating that the tapes probably contained acts of torture and that their destruction could be considered as obstructing justice. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Waterboarding is a form of torture that consists of immobilizing a person on his or her back, with the head inclined downward, and pouring water over the face and into the breathing passages.Through forced suffocation and inhalation of water, the subject experiences the process of drowning in a controlled environment and is made to believe that death is imminent. In contrast to merely submerging the head face-forward, waterboarding almost immediately elicits the gag reflex. Although waterboarding can be performed in ways that leave no lasting physical damage, it carries the risks of extreme pain, damage to the lungs, brain damage caused by oxygen deprivation, injuries (including broken bones) due to struggling against restraints, and even death. The psychological effects on victims of waterboarding can last for years after the procedure. Waterboarding has been used in interrogations at least as early as the Spanish Inquisition. It has been used for interrogation purposes, to obtain information, coerce confessions, punish, and intimidate. Today it is considered to be torture by a wide range of authorities, including legal experts, politicians, war veterans, intelligence officials, military judges, and human rights organizations. Waterboarding gained recent attention and notoriety in the United States when the press reported that the CIA had used waterboarding in the interrogation of certain extrajudicial prisoners and that the Justice Department had authorized this procedure. The new controversy surrounded the confirmed use of waterboarding by the United States government on alleged terrorists, and whether the practice was acceptable. This investigation by Army Major General Antonio Taguba, along with photos (More) Four years ago this week, the Army launched its first investigation into allegations of prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib in Iraq. This investigation by Army Major General Antonio Taguba, along with photos leaked by the media, eventually helped expose the widespread abuse and torture taking place inside the US-run jail.
In the four years since Taguba began his investigation, not one officer or civilian leader has been held criminally responsible for the abuses. Last month, the US Army threw out the conviction of the only officer court-martialed in the torture scandal. Meanwhile, several soldiers who helped expose the torture have been punished.
Today, we spend the hour with Abu Ghraib whistleblower and former Army sergeant, Samuel Provance. From September 2003 to the spring of 2004, Provance ran the top-secret computer network used by Military Intelligence at Abu Ghraib. He was the first intelligence specialist to speak openly about abuse at the prison and is the only Military Intelligence soldier listed as a witness in the Taguba report.
When Provance defied an order not to speak to the media about what happened at Abu Ghraib, the Army stripped him of his security clearance, demoted him in rank and threatened him with ten years in jail. Eventually, Samuel Provance was forced to leave the armed forces. When we spoke to him late last year, Samuel Provance was struggling to find a job and was working as a private security guard at a mall.
I began by asking him how he learned of the abuses taking place inside Abu Ghraib.
SAMUEL PROVANCE: Well, I was really intrigued by the interrogators, and I was just curious as to exactly what was it like in the day—you know, a day in the life of an interrogator. So I would just ask them, you know, questions, because, you know, my job allowed me to kind of float among the premises, because I was just, for the most part, helping people whenever they had problems after the network had been set up and maintained. So I would just ask questions here and there, you know, from different people, like, you know, exactly what goes on in interrogation or what kind of people do you interrogate, what are some of the things that go on, you know, things of that nature or just being somewhere listening to somebody talking about an interrogation.
AMY GOODMAN: Talk about the information you started to gather, the people you started to meet.
SAMUEL PROVANCE: Well, first of all, there was the interrogators. And originally it was just a handful of people. You know, it was the 519th and the 325th, which were half-active and half-reservist. And then, there was a big difference between Camp Victory, because at Camp Victory everybody was kind of dog-eat-dog, whereas at Abu Ghraib, people were more like family, and, you know, it was very—the people were very bonded. But it was completely different.
And, you know, I would ask questions about interrogations and stuff, and the things they started telling me were alarming, you know, beginning with the nudity. You know, one girl was an interrogator just out of the schoolhouse, a reservist, nineteen years old, and she was telling me about, you know, interrogating somebody in the nude. And, you know, I'm thinking, even me, as a man, would have some reservation about doing something like that, or, you know, if I could do that. But here she is, a nineteen-year-old girl, you know, interrogating a naked prisoner. But she talked about it without batting an eye, you know, like it wasn't an issue for her. 57 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration was under court order not to discard evidence of detainee torture and abuse months before the CIA destroyed videotapes that revealed some of its harshest interrogation tactics.
Normally, that would force the government to defend itself against obstruction allegations. But the CIA may have an out: its clandestine network of overseas prisons.
While judges focused on the detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and tried to guarantee that any evidence of detainee abuse would be preserved, the CIA was performing its toughest questioning half a world away. And by the time President Bush publicly acknowledged the secret prison system, interrogation videotapes of two terrorism suspects had been destroyed.
The CIA destroyed the tapes in November 2005. That June, U.S. District Judge Henry H. Kennedy Jr. had ordered the Bush administration to safeguard "all evidence and information regarding the torture, mistreatment, and abuse of detainees now at the United States Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay."
U.S. District Judge Gladys Kessler issued a nearly identical order that July. news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071212/ap_on_go_co/cia_videotapes_courts
--------
"The US does not torture," President Bush has repeated often—in the face of terrible pictures from Abu Ghraib and vicious stories from around the world. What is the President saying? Is it a lie or wishful denial, or positive thinking, or casuist ry, or political pandering?
Rumsfeld ruminates that he stands hours a day at his desk so what's torture about forced standing in prison? The dead body on ice, the man roasted above fire, the excrement-smeared, hooded, naked, terrified, sexually brutalized, and wounded figures available everywhere but the American media are not addressed. They're flushed into collateral damage—like the children burned, maimed, and brutalized by bombs, mistakes, and deliberate revenge in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The President specialized in the role of true believer in American goodness and righteousness. But Bush doesn't say I can't believe in my heart of hearts that the US tortures. He says the US doesn't torture. He negates the language and facts and seems not a naif but a stonehead. The US in fact has a thoroughly vicious history of abetting torture in Latin America and fomenting assassination. We haven't wanted to know. We have rationalized, negated, denied. We mean well. We signed the protocols against torture.
The President opined that his cowboy-warrior language was unsophisticated and that the country has been hurt by Abu Ghraib. His hedging is like Reagan's, about himself, and like Reagan's self-pity, the analysis is wrong. "Bring 'em on, smoke 'em out, dead or alive" is plain, all too intelligible—it's spoiling to fight. And Abu Ghraib is about us hurting prisoners, often innocent prisoners. It's not the hurt we suffer by being perceived as vicious evil-doers rather than innocent good-doers. The problem is not erroneous perception, it's the actual facts. We are torturers—like Saddam, like terrorists. We were and are.
Let us say not what we don't do but what we do do. And let us say it without abstraction. Freedom and liberty and democracy are not force and torture and coercion. Language will have its revenge. It belongs not to the warrior who cries the time for talk is over, but to the human being who hopes we can talk not kill. The Spectre is warlike. It stalks us and is within us. In our deepest heart of hearts we may wish good but we are also capable of evil. No projecting it away.
Haditha or My Lai. Do we think we can train people to kill and destroy and make the world kinder and gentler thereby? The principle of contradiction is something language can teach us. You cannot eliminate the negative. FROM THE "BUFFALO REPORT" (Less) Channel: youtube

Located inside Gdańsk's medieval Torture Tower this fine, multi-floor exhibition with additional multimedia displays features everything amber-related from large raw lumps of the stuff to some stunningly ornate artistic creations. Highlights include plants and insects trapped inside pieces, the world's largest display of natural amber blocks, a small section devoted to amber's former medicinal uses and an amazing amber Fender Stratocaster. The final rooms of the tour take in the attached Torture Museum, a nod to the original purpose of the building in which the museum is housed.
Included as part of the city's Amber Museum which is housed inside the same building, the Torture Museum offers both a recreation of the living conditions of the criminals who were once kept here to a history of the building including some rather gruesome images. Forced to wriggle through tiny corridors that lead to equally microscopic cells restored to how they once were complete with some original 19th-century prisoners' carvings in the walls, the overall effect of the place is both chilling and spooky.

In Thailand, approximately 3,800 of the country's estimated 5,000 endangered Asian elephants are in private hands. Most are used as tourist attractions in elephant camps where they are forced to perform circus tricks and give rides. PETA has uncovered the horrific torture that is routine in Thailand's secret "training" camps. Still-nursing baby elephants are literally dragged from their mothers, kicking and screaming. They are immobilized, beaten mercilessly, and gouged with nails for days at a time. These ritualized "training" sessions leave the elephants badly injured, traumatized, or even dead. Breaking: 13 US intell operatives face arrest in Germany!

Los Angeles Times has a blockbuster:
http://www.latimes.com/
BERLIN -- German investigators have recommended that prosecutors issue arrest warrants against 13 U.S. intelligence operatives in connection with the kidnapping, beating and secret detention of a German citizen suspected of having links to terrorist networks.
The operatives were part of a CIA-sponsored team that transported alleged terrorists to interrogation camps around the world. Investigators say the group forced a handcuffed and blindfolded Khaled Masri, a German citizen of Lebanese descent, onto a Boeing 737 and flew him from Macedonia to Afghanistan in January 2004. Masri never was charged with a crime, and was released after five months. (Less) Channel: youtube

Bush allowed this by law in crime syndicated states starting in 2001 under the Chapter 36 Law, what I call the Crazy Clause, in Nevada, New Mexico, and Arizona. I was retaliated against for informing on money laundering by the casinos in FDIC insured banks. The regime, democrat and republican allows the torture. I was injected against my will in 2001 and 2004. The first time for reporting money laundering and murder and for surviving an attempt on my life. The second time I reported a hazmal spill and a burn on my neck. I saw the spill cleanup crew just West of Texas in New Mexico in 2004. I reported it in Arizona at the Flagstaff Medical Center. I should have fought back. The FSMC would not let me leave for three days, knockd me unconscious and put me into a room with a psych patient. I was injected in the room one night and I believe I was raped in retaliation for my FDIC employment related position as a bank examiner. A regional director had been murdered in his office at the FDIC and labeled suicide. I survived an attempt on my life. We should applaud their overthrow and removal. The regime is international. If we can not stop the forced injections and forced medical procedures, we should welcome global war and the deaths of humane humans. Protect our people in Iran and Syria and the United States. No more conquered nations. We should push to get out of Iraq. We are in a technological war. Your children can be raped without them knowing it. Never again trust the regime and the federal police. Do not open your door to them. Do not go to the door if they do not have a warrant. They can knock you unconscious without you knowing it. Billions of dollars are stolen daily from the American people. I regret working for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation FDIC and I regret being a volunteer in the US armed forces. The only way I will not regret those career options is if I stop the spread of the international regime and if I stop the abuse of our people in Nuremberg Code style violations. The American people are being strangled by the enemy within who has come to power through the bought out regime, primarily the democrats and republicans. (Less) Channel: youtube

This type of booth has been used by the 'Coalition of the Willing', in casu the United Stated Army, to illegally torture 'enemy combattants' The first report of the use of music as a torture device or weapon by the USA has been during the Panama war in 1989. Next to the psychological terror that is caused by the constant submission to loud music: sleep deprivation, hallucination, etc., it is, within a rigid interpretation of the Qu'ran, not al- lowed to listen to any music whatsoever. In that sense, prisoners, mainly muslims, in Guantánamo Bay and other places are forced to commit an 'aggressive act of passivity', namely to submit themselves to something that is illegitimate withing their interpretation of the islam. These methods of torture are actually already forbidden by the European Court of Human Rights since 1977. It is typical that the tools used in these 'no-touch torture' procedures in order to deprive prisoners of sleep, cause disorientation, etc. are at the same time typical export products of a democratic country: (noise) music and electric lighting. Products that the USA wish to export to countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan, after peace has been finally established. Products of democracy that are employed against the 'enemies of democracy', against the 'Axis of Evil'. Because these products are employed outside the demo- cratic context - in a detention camp, where prisoners are factually without rights, outside the Geneva convention, "those who were missed by the bombs" - their meaning is immediately reversed: from positive, liberating rock music, the symbol of freedom within western society, to a terrorizing force, unleashed at prisoners with no rights whatsoever. The iconic elements of democracy presented in the exhibition US Army Torture Devices: liberating rock music, disco lighting, acquire a new, con- strained meaning. On one side, when recognized and acknowledged as a 'torture room', the space produces a claustrophobic effect. On the other side, even when a visitor is confronted with the context from which the exhibition has emerged, the space fits extremely well to the decadence of urban uitgaanscultuur (lit. going-out culture). In that sense it can be seen as a perverse design for urban culture. As the exhibition's opening hours are completely adapted to the Amster- dam uitgaanscultuur, generally taking place between 10 pm and 4 am, it can — without any critical reflection — be experienced as a typical product of urban night culture, in which heavily loaded (photographic) images, such as tortured individuals in Abu Ghraib, or jumping people from the Twin Towers (the latter images used to confront Abu Graib prisoners with the 'terror' executed by Al-Qa'ida), become aesthetically pleasing features; the stage for an increasingly grotesque, nihilistic and globalized culture. I was attacked for reporting money laundering and murder in the federal government of the United States. The regime had the now terminated Sheriff Jack Tillman of Mobile Alabama take my gun permit. I fled Alabama due to fear for my life and that of my family. I went to Los Angeles where I had been stationed in the Navy 17 years earlier. I parked at a federal facility with a Uhaul. I was arrested and my video tapes were destroyed in my investigations of a replacement regional director of the FDIC in San Francisco. His predecessor had been murdered with his own gun and labeled suicide. The replacement was part of a money laundering syndicate. I do not believe the predecessor Regional Director was involved in crime, according to my research. My guns were taken from my Uhaul and truck. I was forcibly injected, tortured, and forced medical procedures. I was jailed and forced to sign documents. I was given a one million dollar bail, I was sick from the injections and drugs the government had give me, so I had to agree to their demands. The Secret Service came to the LA County Jail. The guard said they were my attornies. They told me I would serve at least 6 months in Jail. The Secret Service is under the same crime infested union as the FDIC and other agencies, the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU). Collusion and technology is how they took over the United States. They now want to conquer the Earth. Let us hope they never succeed. Let us welcome global war and global death of all humane humans if they or it is to succeed. I was injected in Flagstaff Arizona in 2004. I had been in forced exile, forced to live in California. My mother was dieing in Alabama and I had visited her. Enroute back to California I witnessed a Hazmat Crew on the Highway in New Mexico and a burn on my neck. I reported it at Flagstaff Arizona Medical Center. I was detained and forcibly injected. I was held five hours before the injections and was compliant. I resisted, but not enough. I was knocked unconscious. I was then put in their insane asylum section. The next day, a man was put into my room. That night, I remember being injected again. I felt I had been raped during that night. The man who was in the room said about my snoring, "We took care of it" and smiled. I was traumatized even if I was not raped. The Chapter 36 law "Crazy Clause" allows forced injections since 2001 in the crime syndicated states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada. You can not sue the hospitals for this Nuremberg concentration camp style atrocity. The federal government injected me forcibly in Los Angeles. They had done the same thing and forced experiments on other veterans at the facility in 1999. I was released on the third day from Flagstaff Medical Center. The staff or a federal agent had "allegedly" lost my keys to my vehicle. It was in retaliation for my reporting money laundering and murder. I have been attacked numerous times on the highways, not only in the USA, but in Canada on one trip to that nation. The border patrol is under the NTEU and they know when I left. Their casinos also launder money in American banks I would wager. My life has been a living Hell since 2001 on many occassions. I encourage the American people to beware with retaliatory strikes. It is a technological war they or IT is waging. Let us hope they release the prisoners of war, and remove their war crimes from other nations and the American people. I work on behalf of the American people and in particular the Humane Humans of Earth. If I or we do not succeed, let us welcome global death of our species. If we are beyond on other planets, let us welcome our deaths universally if we are to be tortured, robbed, raped, and imprisoned. You can find my entire story at Mobile Audit Club, found by searching the web or the link on the home page of saintrambone videos on Youtube. I encourage young people to stay off of the drugs and alcohol. You are being used. Get good educations. Protect your young. The inhumane need to take a back seat in government involvement. We are in a technological war. You can not believe your eyes at all times. Bush is likely an imposter or a servant to a group of inhumane beasts, serial killers, and sociopaths of the worst variety. Randy Kraft was my first encounter with a serial killer. I never thought I would see America and the world come to this. I should have seen what was coming after our forced consignment in the Vietnam war. We are the lower caste. We are the humane humans. We are the outcasts from government. Protect your young.
