Get them out of the house to a place where they could enjoy physical and psychological benefits and exciting challenges. Pegasus Farm was incorporated in July of that year. Five riders began lessons on three horses boarded in borrowed stables. And the rest, as they say, is history. 1986 Pegasus earns accreditation and membership in the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). Fifty riders enrolled. 1987 A generous donor provides funds to acquire 25 acres of farmland. A nine-stall barn is completed and constructed solely with donations of materials and labor by community members. More than seventy riders enrolled. 1988 Handicapped-accessible playground is donated by the Canton Junior League to provide additional recreation for riders and families. Even those dependent on crutches and wheelchairs could enjoy the slide and swings. The horse supplies the locomotive energy, while the rider has the privilege of deciding on the goal and of guiding the powerful animal's movement. -Sigmund Freud 1990 Pegasus Farm expands into a year-round riding program thanks to generous grants from Mr. Raymond Firestone and the Deuble, GAR, Hoover, Stark County (Community) and Timken Foundations. The 14,000 sq --ft Firestone arena features 18 new stalls, tack room, administrative offices, gift shop, kitchen, indoor riding ring and observation room for families and visitors. 1991 Pegasus earns a service award from the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC). Rotary International unites 62 chapters to raise capital to seed the Pegasus endowment fund. 1992 Visiting NARHA representative names Pegasus a top-ranked facility. 1993 Generous donations from Rotary, GAR Foundation, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Firestone and other individuals establish an endowment fund to ensure the facility's long-term financial health. 1997 A successful capital campaign enables the Farm to purchase 86 adjoining acres. 1999 Eight more adjacent acres secured with funds from Hoover, Stark Community, Herbert W. Hoover, Timken and Deuble Foundations, bringing the property to 120 acres. 2001 Pegasus hosts the first open show on the grounds and offers a parade of breeds at the Spring Festival. 2002 An on-site residence is completed for the Farm's manager and a small barn is built for the 4-H Club with funds donated by Nationwide Insurance in honor of Board Member Nancy Breit's granddaughter, rider Valerie Thomas. 2004 The Firestone Arena is re-sided and re-roofed. Ceiling and lights are replaced in the offices and observation room. Pegasus serves 120 riders and other programs for at-risk youth. ASK ABOUT VETERANS THERAPEUTIC RIDING PROGRAMS. What are the benefits of therapeutic horseback riding? "Upon the whole the behavior of these animals was so orderly and rational, so acute and judicious, that I at last concluded they must needs be magicians." - Jonathan Swift The concept of therapeutic riding originated in Europe and has been associated with improvement in the lives of individuals with disabilities for more than 50 years. Individuals from toddlers to octogenarians with almost any cognitive, physical and/or emotional disability can benefit from therapeutic riding, vaulting, competition or other purposeful, safe and supervised interaction with horses and ponies. Because horseback riding gently and rhythmically moves the rider's body in a manner similar to a human gait, riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength. Those whose mobility is limited can explore fields and trails which would otherwise be out of reach. Those with mental or emotional disabilities find that their unique relationship with the horse can lead to increased confidence, patience and self-esteem. The sense of independence and acceptance found through these activities with the horse benefits them as well. ( (Less) Channel: youtube

We haven't gotten to do much riding because winter came to Central PA early this year and Twin Brooks does not have an indoor. This footage is from our fourth ride at Twin Brooks after six weeks boarding there. As you can see we rode despite the snow and ice in the ring! Because the ring was slick in spots, I decided against cantering and jumping, so this video consists only of trotting footage.
Because I haven't been able to ride consistently, this was more of a hack than a training session for either me or Lady. I am well aware of my position flaws and things I need to work on, and soon I'll be taking lessons again. I'm not looking for a critique here, and overtly negative comments will not be approved. I want my YouTube page to be fun and not a place for people to argue. I primarily post videos to update my close friends because many of them are scattered across the country and we don't see one another in person very often.
That said, please enjoy the video! (Less) Channel: youtube

To date, he has recorded seven complete operas (La bohme, Tosca, Il trovatore, Werther, Pagliacci, Cavalleria rusticana and Carmen) in addition to various albums in the classical, pop, and operatic pop genres. He has sold over 65 million albums worldwide[1] Andrea Bocelli was born in Lajatico, Tuscany, Italy, about 40 km south of Pisa, in 1958, to parents Alessandro and Edi Bocelli, and grew up on the family farm. It was evident at birth that he had problems with his sight and after visits to many doctors, Bocelli was diagnosed with glaucoma. In 1970, at the age of 12, he completely lost his sight after an accident during a soccer game.[citation needed] As a young boy, Bocelli showed a great passion for music. His mother, Edi, has said that music was the only thing that would comfort him. At the age of six he started piano lessons before he also learned to play the flute, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, harp, guitar and drums. Bocelli would also spend time singing during his childhood and would later recall that he was "one of those children who would always be asked to sing for my relatives. I don't think one really decides to be a singer - other people decide it for you by their reactions."[2][3] At the age of 14 he won his first song competition, the Margherita d'Oro in Viareggio with O sole mio. [4] After he finished secondary school, in 1980, he studied Law at the University of Pisa.[4] After graduating he spent one year as a court appointed lawyer. To earn money Bocelli performed evenings in brothels.[5][6] It was there, in 1987, that he met his future wife, Enrica. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dulce Pontes (born April 8, 1969) is a Portuguese musician, songwriter and singer who writes and performs in many music styles, including pop, folk and classical music. She's usually defined as a world music artist. Her songs contributed to the 1990s revival of Portuguese urban folk music called fado. With a powerful and dramatic voice, she is one of the most famous and respected Portuguese artists. Dulce was born in 1969 in Montijo, which is a small city in the District of Setbal, surroundings of Lisbon. Trained as a pianist, she became a singer after entering a competition in her home town at the age of 18. She soon became an actress in Portuguese television and theater. In 1991 she won the national song festival with her song "Lusitana Paixo" (known in English as "Tell Me"), which allowed her to represent Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest (she was 8th, which has been up till now the 4th best position of a singer representing Portugal in this contest)."Lusitana Paixo" litterally means Portuguese Passion. Cano do Mar (Song of the Sea),one of Dulce`a many international hits, was latter recorded by Sarah Brightman, under the name Harem.Harem was latter a #1 Dance & Crossover hit in the US for Sarah. Over the years Dulce has evolved to become a renowned star of world music. She easily blends traditional fado with contemporary styles and eagerly searches out new forms of musical expression. She gave new life to outmoded musical traditions of the Iberian Peninsula, rediscovered many long forgotten popular tunes and found use for allegedly obsolete musical instruments. Her artistic explorations know no geographical or cultural borders. Her work is inspired and influenced not only by Iberian musical tradition, but also Arabic, African, Brazilian and Bulgarian. She sings mostly in her native Portuguese, but also in Spanish, Galician, Mirandese, Italian, English,Arabic and Greek. (Less) Channel: 123video
