Real fires have little smoke and fire that shows up well in a photograph. The skill of drawing attractive smoke and fire has been with us a long time. While it seems benign, it is altering the appearance of the event and is TV fakery. While we, again, tend not to pay attention, the locale of the shot is often a dead giveaway. An image/sound or record is also staged when it is prerecorded and presented later as live, even without alteration. Altering. The fire and smoke pictures started as real images. Staging/Altering. A separate category because, although the image started as a real image/sound record, it was taken at a different time. The original staging had not anticipated some key element of the event. Imagining. The image/sound/record is totally drawn/produced/faked. Actors for images. Actors for sound. Substituted records. Actual animation. There are mixtures and other methods, but, they all have one common purpose. The central intent in every case is to alter the target victim's perception of what actually happened.
