Description: I decided to do this video edit of the original 1992 12", to clarify the original inspiration behind the Utah Saints track & as a vehicle to introduce younger youtuber's to Kate (More) I decided to do this video edit of the original 1992 12", to clarify the original inspiration behind the Utah Saints track & as a vehicle to introduce younger youtuber's to Kate Bush's back catalogue. The track "Something Good" is itself of course, based around a sample of Kate Bush's 1985 Hit "Cloudbusting". It often annoys me (these days) that Kate often gets "lumped in" a pile with (MOR) middle of the road, (AOR) adult orientated rock acts. It feels like it is getting harder as time goes on to remember she was/ is a contemporary Pop Star (nothing to be ashamed of) & that was what originally appealed to me about her 23 years ago. In my recent Kate video's I am attempting to bring some of the more traditional "Pop" elements of her appeal (that used to be more evident in her work) to the fore. So that younger Kate fans who discovered her (over the last 5 years or so) are shown a fresher less stuffy interpretation of her work that flys in the face of todays traditional Kate demographic of stuffy "Q" & "Mojo" magazine readers! To that end (whilst going back over these videos), by surprise I have been reminded exactly how much Kate's (once great) love of dance has come through in these interpretations of her work. The guy playing the father in the Video (Donald Sutherland), is the real-life father of "Jack Bauer" (Kiefer Sutherland) from the TV show "24". This is the original 1992 12" mix of "Something Good", featuring an extended italio piano breakdown (typical of early 90's produced dance tracks) that was not as prominent in the original 7" mix. It was the 1992 release of "Something Good" that inspired Armand Van Helden to do the successful remix of "Professional Widow" by Tori Amos four years later. "Cloudbusting" was taken from what is widely recognised as being Kate's best album "Hounds of Love", recorded when she was at her creative peak. NOTE: I felt I had no option but to disable the "embedding" option for this video as someone linked it to a BNP Site where it was described as an anthem for there cause (as if). I don't want to be connected to them in any way, so for everyone else sorry! (Less)

Yes, that would have been easy to do, but in this case, the video is in real time, and is completely unedited. The soundtrack is the actual sounds in my back yard, the movement of the leaves is from the wind as it occurs. I am very good at video editing, and could have faked this, but I did not. I've always held that the perception of busting clouds may only be some unexplained ability to predict which single cloud out of a bank of clouds will be next to vaporize. Even so, this would be a pretty impressive skill. I tend to favor this explanation. On my web page I have another video clip, and assuredly, a distinct HOLE is created (or occurs) in the cloud bank, and it occurs right where I pointed my camera. It was very cool. One of the caveats I insist upon in this little activity, is that surrounding clouds-- not the ONE you pick- as a rule remain for the most part. In the YouTube clip I selected, the clouds thicken above my target cloud, and a slight bit vanishes below it, but in the overall picture as a whole (get out your square footage calculators) most remain. Most importantly, I hope this topic adn video causes people to think. That's my goal, and the goal of my website. Cloudbusting is just one teeny tiny piece of "brain", and a fun one at that, even if one chooses to poke at it-- question everything, but keep an open mind. thats your best chances for survival.
