Now we have many SUVs but those Jeeps are still just fun to drive! A receiver hitch on your Jeep will allow you to tow a trailer, think boats or jet skis, use a cargo carrier for extra cargo room or use a hitch mounted bike rack. However you like to spend your down time a hitch will help make it more enjoyable. This video shows us installing a custom fit receiver on a Cherokee. The hitch was designed to make the process as easy as possible so no drilling is required. Take a minute to watch it, we are sure afterwards you will be calling to place your order! Today we are going to show you part number 87591 on a 1997 Jeep Cherokee. This install also works with part number 75054. First up on the install is to inspect the vehicle. On these Jeep Cherokees a lot of times the frame will have these strip with bolt holes inside. They will rust out rather fast. What we need to do is clean out these bolt holes. There are 3 of them here. We will get those cleaned out so we can get our bolts in easier. Also back here in the muffler bracket there is a bolt here we must remove. Sometimes that can be kind of a pain too. Just take a breaker bar and break it loose, it should be alright. Just to give you a little background it took us around a half an hour to clean those out. So take your time on cleaning those out. To show you how we clean those bolts out basically we spray it down with some WD40 and get one our bolts and just start it. Sometimes we got it started and sometimes we did not. If we could not get it to start we used a wire brush from a battery terminal cleaner kit. We brushed it a few times and then sprayed again to try and get all of the dirt out of there. As long as we got it started we just worked it in and out like that. The next thing we need to do is get that bolt out. We use our breaker bar to break it loose then we will just ratchet it the rest of the way. The reason we had to take that bolt off is we needed to get the muffler bracket down so we can get the steel of the hitch sitting flat on the steel right here. This little dip was not too much but this heat shield will not be that big of a deal. So we will go ahead and pull this down and we will put our hitch right there between those two pieces. Then we will start to install the hitch. Our next step is to get the drivers side prepared. What we need to do is pull some bolts that go here and then down. We also have these blocks that go inside as well. The blocks have to be in a special order of orientation actually. Then put the plates in position like this. There is a different one for the middle here. It is very important to line up these blocks so your bolts will all stick in a straight line. You know if your bolt is pointed straight down you have got your block orientated correctly. If you get one of the blocks put in crooked you can manipulate it with the bolt. You can tilt it to the side and push up. Sometimes you have to stick with it and spin it the way you want it. Other times you have to use a screw driver. The last block will set like this. On our last hole here we have a separate attachment using the handle nut. It will work like so. We will have to do that with the hitch in place we will save that for one of our last steps. At this point we can start hanging our hitch up there. We will drive in the ones in the passenger side underneath the muffler bracket. We use that to hold the hitch up while we fanaggle the other bolts on the driver side. We have our hitch temporary installed on the driver side so we will go back to the passenger side and start installing our bolts. We got our bolt started, we are going to snug this one up to bring the rest of the plate back down to poke through the holes. We need to back up just a few turns we still need some flexibility. While we are on the subjects of bolts and the frame, there is something you want to remember about this kit, it actually uses two different types bolts. The bolt I am pointing at here on the left is the 8 point 8 it is actually a metric nut and bolt. It will fit the weld nuts on the frame. Here on the bolt to the right side, it says J.H. and has three hash mark. That means it is an American threaded bolt. That would fit the hitch hardware that came with the handle nut. Firefighters had to put out a 40-acre fire near Broken Arrow earlier today and 41st Street was briefly shut down because of the smoke. Another fire happened near Harvard and the Broken Arrow Expressway. Firefighters say this one could've possibly started when someone flicked their cigarette out the window. The good news though for rural fire departments is that the Cherokee Nation, just today, gave $300,000 to 115 firehouses. Firefighters say the timing couldn't have been any better. Hours after a brush fire was put out in Sapulpa today, smoke still rises from the charred grass. "The wind just picked it up and took it everywhere." Eric Hawkinson was doing work at a house when the blaze ignited. "Saw the smoke, and the smoke filled all the sky... that happened within seconds." And within minutes, Eric says the Sapulpa Fire Department arrived, "then when they saw that it jumped the road, they immediately went over there and took care of that guys yard." As quickly as it started, firefighters had it out. Today, the Cherokee Nation presented a check for $300,000 to help the rural fire houses. Many of these firefighters are volunteers working at stations with very little cash flow. "Many of our guys drive their own vehicles, donate their own time to work on trucks, to do different projects, they go to classes, they donate a lot of time for that", said Chief Denus Benton with the Catoosa Fire Department. The Catoosa station got about $2,400 dollars to buy more protective gear for two firefighters. "The most important thing is to keep our firefighters safe, they're out here to protect the public." Firefighters say you have to be extremely careful in these conditions not to cause a fire. First, don't throw cigarettes outside. Also, they suggest parking in a driveway or on the street, not over dry brush. And make sure your lawn is debris free by mowing your lawn and raking your leaves frequently. Governor Brad Henry is asking Green Country not to burn any brush when winds are more than 15-miles per hour. (Less)

The car is in excellent condition and comes loaded with factory options: leather seats, 4WD, trip computer, tinted windows, tow package, and one mean V8. In addition, the car has some aftermarket enhancements: TeraFlex shocks, 1" TeraFlex suspension lift, 31X10.50 BFG all terrain tires, Yakima ski and bike racks, Blaupunkt CD/stereo, cellular phone (works great), Hella fog lamps, and deep-dish polished aluminum wheels from a Jeep Wrangler (15X10). For the sake of those interested in the suspension lift -- everything works flawlessly. I researched it thoroughly before it was done as to avoid any complications like tire-rub, or drive train vibrations. Some engine enhancements were made as well, including: jet performance chip, K&N air filter charger (27hp+), performance headers, high-flow catalytic converter, flomaster muffler, and custom dual side exhaust with polished tips. The exhaust alone was a $1,000 custom job. The car has been meticulously cared for over the years and has been in our family since new. It's always been serviced on time, including the recent 100k service. New belts and pulleys were recently installed, and all engine seals were replaced around 50k. I've also had a new ignition switch installed in the steering column. I don't know of any major work that needs to be done. The A/C works, but has a slow freon leak, so it needs to be refilled (any dealer can do it). Also, there's a short in the fog lamps that needs to be fixed, although a new wiring harness was recently installed. Lastly, the speakers aren't blown, but they are old, so I'd recommend new ones to restore great sound. The car has never been in an accident, and the body/paint are in great condition. It does have some minor scratches and dings typical of a car this age. The interior is also in excellent condition and the leather seats are as comfortable as an old baseball glove. It runs very strong and sound fantastic. I have thoroughly enjoyed it over the years, it has taken me many places, and I'm sad to see it go. It's rarely been off-road, except to get to hiking trails or a ski hill, but it is more than capable if that's what you need her for. On the street it handles incredibly well (and darn fast, too). Its twin was white, but the only time I filmed the white twin was in a split second as it jumped behind a tree (it had been standing by the banded deer and their mother). A white fawn was seen once. Around 30 years ago, many area people saw a white deer with a black spot. A sixth white deer was seen and photographed along our river valley (Alum Creek, in Ohio). Piebald, albino, "white," and "black" whitetail deer are very rare. In Bolder Junction, Wis., a man once photographed 3 albino deer standing together. The odds of doing this in wild deer have been calculated as astronomical -- 1 in 79 billion. Such calculations are based on assumptions. For example, the odds of finding an albino deer are often calculated as 1 in 30,000. Less than 1 % of whitetail deer are piebald. However seeing either a wild piebald or an albino deer is considered a once in a lifetime experience. Black or Melanistic whitetails are very, very rare, and much rarer than either white piebald or albino deer. A person can recognize a melanistic deer because they produce too much of the pigment known as melanin and this makes them much darker than a typical whitetail. Of the millions of deer taken each year only a very few with melanism have been reported. Most people don't know they even exist because of their extreme rarity. A melonistic buck is a true trophy. Some melanistic whitetails are very dark and some are even pure black.
