Lyrics are replete with strong statements, many concerning animal abuse and political issues. The title song from their second 7", entitled Firestorm, with lyrics depicting a neighborhood submerged in drug addiction and criminality, became an anthem for followers of the straight edge ideology. http://www.myspace.com/xecx The first two 7", All Out War (1992) and Firestorm (1993), made the band popular in some hardcore punk and metalcore circles. The next two full-length records, Destroy the Machines (1995) and Gomorrah's Season Ends (1996), brought a more complex and developed form of metalcore. The band's growing popularity was noticed by Roadrunner Records; a new record deal pushed the band to record Breed the Killers (1998), featuring a guest appearance by Machine Head's vocalist and guitarist, Robb Flynn. The band then left the label and returned to Victory Records, releasing 2000's Slither soon after. With clear and professional production, it surprised some listeners and introduced the band's music to a wider audience. The band's final album, Last of the Sane (2001), is Earth Crisis' tribute to those bands which influenced them. Covers of songs by The Rolling Stones, Slayer, Led Zeppelin, and Dead Kennedys were included. This was found amusing by some, but not by other because bands such as Led Zeppelin and Slayer embody much of what Earth Crisis were against.
In 2001, Earth Crisis played their final show at Hellfest in Syracuse, New York[1]. Frontman Karl Buechner, along with Bulldog and Erick Edwards, started the band Freya, previously known as Nemesis. On January 27th, 2007, Earth Crisis played the Maryland Metal and Hardcore Festival, and played a west coast reunion show on May 5th, at the Ventura Theatre. A 10 day tour of Europe was announced shortly after the Ventura show. http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/artists/EarthCrisis/ Karl Buechner, Erick Edwards, Bulldog, Scott Crouse and Dennis Merrick were also in the band Path of Resistance, which was formed during down time from touring in 1997. The band also consisted of D.J. Rose and Jonathan Dennison. Members

A couple of sophomores from southern California high schools went to a party, and were impressed by a few similarly-aged fellows with cool instrumentals. http://www.thegauntlet.com/bio/386/Simon-Says.html When the party band disbanded, Franks and and the guys got together, and eventually became "this magic trio." Franks, guitarist Zac Diebels, and drummer Mike Johnston worked their magic for three consistent years playing the "captive" and highly responsive high school circuit, as well as Sacramento all-ages clubs, as Simon Says. After being joined by bass player Mike Arrieta in 1995, the early Simon Says -- named for the the schoolyard game -- felt buoyed enough by their appeal to the teenage set to release two DIY records, "Little Boy" and "Perfect Example," two years later. While the boys were looking for an attorney, they were contacted by Jeff Saltzman, who wanted to develop a production company and management firm. He was looking for promising young bands like Simon Says, who had already demonstrated the ability to be self-winding, and had, of course, plenty of creative musical talent. http://www.myspace.com/keytoarsonband Saltzman hooked the band up with producer Mark Needham of Cake, who stepped in to oversee new demo recordings. Saltzman then showcased Simon Says in Los Angeles for fifteen labels. In July of 1998 Hollywood Records -- one of the very first labels to hear them, signed them almost on the spot. Under the guiding hand of Hollywood A&R rep Rob Cavallo, "Jump Start" got mixed in the studio with Needham, and hit the radio waves in May of 1999. The rest is a very young American success story. http://capitalchaos.net (Less) Channel: youtube

The Urge is a St. Louis rock band formed in 1987 by drummer Jeff Herschel, bassist Karl Grable, guitarist Pat Malecek, and singer Steve Ewing. Their music combined multiple styles of music including ska, hardcore punk, thrash metal, funk, reggae, and hip hop. http://www.ptmfus.com/ The original Urge lineup debuted in 1989 with the cassette-only "Bust Me Dat Forty", followed a year later by the LP Puttin the Backbone Back. http://www.musicfanclubs.org/urge/ After the addition of trombonist Matt Kwiatkowski, the group released 1992's Magically Delicious. Later the group added trombonist/keyboardist Todd Painter and saxophonist/keyboardist Bill Reiter, and in 1993 recorded the live LP Fat Babies in the Mix. After Herschel and Malecek left the band in 1994, guitarist Jerry Jost and drummer John Pessoni joined the lineup, and subsequent touring with 311 helped The Urge win a number of new fans. The 1995 release of Receiving The Gift of Flavor was so successful that it brought the band to the attention of Epic's Immortal imprint, which reissued the LP in 1996. After constant touring with the likes of labelmates KoЯn and Incubus, Master of Styles was released in 1998, containing the hit "Jump Right In" which featured singer Nick Hexum of 311. Following the release of Too Much Stereo in mid-2000, the band toured for nearly a year before calling it quits. In summer 2001, the band went its separate ways due to musical differences. Since breaking up, the band has played several reunion shows. Frontman Steve Ewing has made several solo records under the name Stevie E. and is currently assisting several growing local St. Louis rock bands including Zamudio, The Dead End, and Lojic. Guitarist Jerry Jost was almost chosen as the replacement guitarist for Limp Bizkit after Wes Borland left the band in 2002. The other members still reside in St. Louis and are involved in several musical projects. Their hit Jump Right In can be heard in an episode of MTV's Daria. http://www.myspace.com/theurgestl (Less) Channel: youtube

They play a mix Punk Rock and Heavy Metal influenced by bands like Plasmatics, Wendy O. Williams and Chrissie Hynde. Biography Lunachicks started in New York in 1987. Theo, Gina, Squid, Sindi and Theo's then-boyfriend Mike started rehearsing in Gina's Bedroom for about a year, before playing their first gig in 1988. In early 1989 drummer Becky Wreck (Susan Rebecca Lloyd) joined the Lunachicks. The band released their first full-length release "Babysitters On Acid" (Produced by Wharton Tiers) in 1990 on the English label Blast First. Two years later "Binge & Purge" was released on Safe House Records. In early 1993 Chip English replaced Becky Wreck. Later the Lunachicks got signed to Go Kart Records, releasing several albums through the label: "Jerk Of All Trades" (1995), "Pretty Ugly" (1997), "Drop Dead Live" (1998) and "Luxury Problem" (1999). During the Luxury Problem Tour, Chip English left the band and was replaced by Helen Destroy, who stayed with the band until they decided to take a break in 2000. The Lunachicks played two reunion shows (CBGB's 2002, Washington 2004) with Chip English on drums. Gina is now singer and guitar player for the band Bantam, Theo plays with Theo & the Skyscrapers. Theo has also worked as a fashion model and appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Recently Theo has found a business co-worker named Lila Pierce, with whom she plans to start a fashion label. When asked about it, the female rock pioneer answered, "Is poo poo one word or two?" Theo describes Lila as one of the most interesting, beautiful and crazy women she has ever met, in several interviews. The band appear in Potluck, a comedy released by the magazine High Times. Theo stars as Jade, the lead singer of a band who gets involved with a bereaved mobster, while the others take much smaller parts as members of her band, The Crazy Chicks. The band are shown rehearsing briefly, and playing at a "reefer rally" in New York, dressed in their customary outfits. Theo is also featured as the main figure on the DVD cover. The soundtrack features the songs 'Nowhere Fast', 'Luxury Problem', 'Less Teeth More Tits' and 'Spoiled Rotten'. Post and Gordon were introduced through mutual friend and actress Lili Taylor, and began playing music together. They wrote songs for a year and a half before being joined by drummer Jim Shapiro, who is Gordon's brother, and bassist Steve Lack. The band had done a handful of shows when Jim Powers of Minty Fresh Records asked to sign them to the independent label. http://verucasalt.com The band's first release was the single "Seether"/"All Hail Me" on Minty Fresh Records, in 1994. The single was a success and Veruca Salt accompanied Hole on a tour, before releasing their debut full-length LP, American Thighs, which eventually reached gold status. After signing to Geffen Records, the band quickly gained in popularity as "Seether" became an MTV hit. A stopgap EP produced by Steve Albini, Blow It Out Your Ass It's Veruca Salt, was released in 1996. Veruca Salt's popularity skyrocketed after their second full album, Eight Arms to Hold You, was released in 1997. Produced by Bob Rock, the album generated the hit lead single "Volcano Girls", which gained exposure as the opening theme to teen comedy Jawbreaker. Shapiro left the band soon after the release of Eight Arms and was replaced by Stacy Jones (of Letters to Cleo and now American Hi-Fi). Songwriting duties were shared between Gordon and Post, though the two seldom collaborated. Rather, each would typically submit a complete song to the group and sing the lead vocal on that song, while the other would submit backing vocals. Critics often cited the harmonies between Gordon and Post as one of the band's major strengths. [edit] 1998 - 2005: Gordon's Departure, Reformation and Resolver In 1998, Gordon left the band acrimoniously to pursue a solo career (her debut album Tonight and the Rest of My Life was released in 2000). The undisclosed dispute between Gordon and Post has been described as "one of the greatest rock soap operas since Fleetwood Mac or Hüsker Dü."[2] Post recruited a new band, consisting of Stephen Fitzpatrick (guitar), Suzanne Sokol (bass) and Jimmy Madla (drums), and continued to record and perform under the Veruca Salt moniker. The new band signed with Beyond Records. The debut album with the new lineup was 2000's Resolver. December 2002 saw the release of both Resolver and lead single "Born Entertainer", in Australia through Embryo Records / MGM. Following the release of "Born Entertainer" Embryo Records / MGM released the single "Officially Dead" which contained newly recorded tracks as well as a remix of 'the Same Person. The band toured Australia, including the "Splendour in the Grass" festival alongside bands such as Placebo and Coldplay. 'Yeah Man' was released as a radio only single and like "Officially Dead". After planning to take some time to step away from the music industry the band once again toured and performed at some festival shows in Australia. The tour took in the capital cities as well as performances at both the "Falls Festival" and the newly created Southbound festival in Perth. The band completed the 2 week tour and upon arrival back in the United States performed a show at the iconic "Viper Room". The band debuted the tracks 'Blissful Queen' and 'Circular Trend' live, both would end up on the album "IV" [edit] 2005 - Present: VSIV 2005 saw the release of a new EP and new lineup; the band now consists of Post, Fitzpatrick, with drummer Kellii Scott and bassist Nicole Fiorentino, and the band completed a tour of America during the fall. The EP, released independently at the band's live shows and via their website, was entitled Lords of Sounds and Lesser Things, and included six new songs. The title of the EP is an extract from Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God. This preluded the full length album, "IV", released September 2006. Lead single "So Weird" was released to radio at the end of October 2006. The band are now on a short spring tour including their first ever Canadian date. They recently recorded a cover of Neil Young's song "Burned" for a 2007 Breast Cancer Benefit album due for release in October 2007 http://capitalchaos.net (Less) Channel: youtube

Watch this killer interview and live song from capitalchaos.net also on the bill were God Forbid, Arsis, The Human Abstract & Mnemic. http://goatwhore.net Goatwhore is an American blackened death metal band, formed in 1997 in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Biography In 1997, Goatwhore initially formed when Sammy Duet (formerly of Acid Bath), Zak Nolan and Patrick Bruders began experimenting with black metal. The band's unusual name originated from an experience one of the bandmember's friends had with a stripper. After Acid Bath disbanded, a four track demo was recorded. Louis Benjamin Falgoust II, singer for Louisiana band Soilent Green, started as replacement for Sammy due to a broken jaw and was asked to stay in the band In 1998, they released another demo under Red Sea Productions. In 2000, Goatwhore released their first full length album, The Eclipse Of Ages Into Black. Between 2000 and 2002 the band commenced extensive touring, opening for bands such as GWAR, Mortician, and Immolation. Their second album, Funeral Dirge For The Rotting Sun was released in 2003. A split 7" with Epoch of Unlight was also released later that year. The album would be supported on the Art of Noise 2 tour in the U.S. with Kreator, Vader, Amon Amarth, and Nile. The band's work was delayed in 2003 by an auto accident involving Falgoust, then on tour with Soilent Green. Touring resumed in 2004, this time in Japan. They also opened for Dark Funeral and Zyklon on The Dojo Volume 9. Signing to Metal Blade Records in July 2004, the band started writing songs for what would become their third full length album and their first recording on their new label. Goatwhore released a music video for the song "Blood Guilt Eucharist", which has had play time on MTV2's Headbangers Ball. Goatwhore's debut album from Metal Blade Records "A Haunting Curse" was released September 5, 2006. According to Revolver Magazine, the album was produced by Hate Eternal's Erik Rutan. "Alchemy of the Black Sun Cult" is the first single and video from "A Haunting Curse". It was directed and edited by David Brodsky and can be seen on the My Good Eye production company website ([1]). It first aired on MTV2's HeadBanger's Ball on October 7th, 2006. The broadcast version notably omitted the word "Christ" from the lyric "murdering the slaves of Christ" because it was thought that US broadcasters would not approve that sentiment for air. It was shot on August 6th, 2006 on a Panasonic HD Varicam by Brodsky and Director of Photography Mike Milia. The video primarily features footage shot in the bowels of a formerly submerged US Navy Light Ship currently docked on Manhattan's west side. "Alchemy of the Black Sun Cult" was nominated for Best Video of 2006 on MTV2's Headbanger's Ball. Goatwhore recently finished a set of U.S. west coast tour dates with Sunn O))) and Celtic Frost. In early 2007, they will continue touring with God Forbid, Arsis, Mnemic, The Human Abstract (January), and Byzantine (February) as part of The Chains of Humanity tour. Followed by a tour with 1349. http://myspace.com/goatwhore Line-up * Sammy Duet - Guitar, Vocals (1997-) (Ritual Killer, Vual, ex-Acid Bath, ex-Crowbar) * Louis Benjamin Falgoust II - Vocals (2000-) (Soilent Green, ex-Paralysis) * Zack Simmons - Drums (2004-) * Nathan Bergeron - Bass (2005-) (Scrotesque) [edit] Former members * Ben Stout - Guitar (1997-2002) (ex-Soilent Green) * Zak Nolan - Drums (1997-2003) (Ritual Killer) * Patrick Bruders - Bass (1997-2004) (Crowbar) * Tim Holsinger - Guitar (2002-2003) (Psycho Scenario) * Jared Beniot - Vocals (1997) http://capitalchaos.net (Less) Channel: youtube

[edit] Early Career: 1998-2002
Unearth was formed by Trevor Phipps, Buz McGrath, Ken Susi, Mike Rudberg, and Chris Rybicki in Lynn, Massachusetts in 1998. On the small independent label, Endless Fight Records, they released their first EP called Above the Fall of Man in May, 1999. Years after the release, Unearth signed to Eulogy Recordings to release The Stings of Conscience in 2001 and Endless in 2002. During the process of Endless, Chris Rybicki left the group and was replaced by John Maggard.
[edit] The New Beginning: 2003-2005
After playing in venues like the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival and Ozzfest with Unearth, Mike Rudberg left the group a day after their performance at The SXSW in 2003 for the reason of playing naked during that night.[2] Also Buz McGrath left for personal problems but came back shortly after. The rest of Unearth would then use Paulie Antignai of Sworn Enemy as temporary replacement drummer and Kia Eshghi of A Static Lullaby as temporary replacement guitarist.
With the return of Buz McGrath and new permanent replacement drummer, Mike Justian of The Red Chord, Unearth released the The Oncoming Storm under Metal Blade Records on June 29, 2004. Shortly after, they would begin touring with Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, and Lamb of God for MTV's Headbangers Ball US tour. They would also tour with Slipknot the next year. In 2005, Unearth performed in the first ever Sounds Of The Underground tour with numerous bands like Norma Jean, GWAR, and All That Remains.
[edit] In the Eyes of Fire: 2006-Present
In early 2006, they began writing their next album. After the writing process, they recorded III: In the Eyes of Fire with legendary heavy metal producer Terry Date at Seattle. This latest coup was yet another landmark in their blossoming career, a fact the band were quick to acknowledge: "Working with Terry Date is another amazing feat for us on a growing list of accomplishments"[3]. As they finished their latest album, they performed at Ozzfest for the second time, including songs from the album even though it was not destined for release until August 8, 2006. During the release, they began their headlined Sanctity of Brothers tour with Bleeding Through, Animosity, Through the Eyes of the Dead and Terror. After participating in Japan's Loud Park festival, Unearth and Slayer toured together all around the U.S. in early 2007 on the Christ Illusion tour. They headlined a tour in the beginning of 2007 with Job for a Cowboy, Despised Icon, and DÅÅTH. They then headlined a European tour which was followed by a U.S. & Canadian tour with Dimmu Borgir, Devildriver and Kataklysm that began in the middle of April. It was during this tour that drummer Mike Justian decided to leave the band. His departure was amicable, according to other members of the band. To fill in for the rest of the tour, Gene Hoglan of Strapping Young Lad was recruited. The band has not yet begun the search for a permanent new drummer.
As of June 7th, III: In the Eyes of Fire has sold 85,000 copies in the US. http://www.capitalchaos.net (Less) Channel: youtube

In fact, the band has more in common with modern-day heavy metal bands especially on this their 2nd release "Revolution wheel". The production on "Revolution Wheel" is pounding riff-rock at its finest with a crushing rhythm section. That crush is attributed to the addition of yet another Tesla band mate, drummer Troy Luccketta. The lyrics have also taken a radical turn focusing on the dichotomy of modern man -- the break down of the soul of man. A number of industrial references pull at the idea of man being controlled by machines as if to counter flesh and steel. Some of it comes off angry (Shut Down, Gods And Monsters, Today) other bits are more concepted (Brand New You, Man Made God, Long Live The New Machine). Tesla reformed and did a surprisingly successful string of dates putting Soulmotor on the backburner. The record was eventually finished in the fall of 2001. However, by then CMC had been pulled into the Sanctuary giant and the record was release in the beginning of 2002 with little to no fan-fair. Since Tesla is also signed to Sanctuary and a much higher profile. "Revolution Wheel" got buried by Sanctuary. Different than Tesla but both bands offer a unique style. Now this brings us to 2007 With Tesla firmly established back in the contemporary rock world Brian and Darin have decided to put out another SoulMotor CD With the addition of original SoulMotor drummer Mike Vanderhule And new to the Motor Dave Rude who Brian has been working with In Tesla. Look for the new CD in the early part of 2008! One of the tracks will be "Down in Mexico" . http://store.sanctuaryrecords.com/411 (Less) Channel: youtube
