Description: On Sunday, September the eleventh of year 2001, three-thousand people died as a result of two Boeing 767 passenger jets hitting the Twin Towers. Two more planes crashed, one hitting the Pentagon (More) On Sunday, September the eleventh of year 2001, three-thousand people died as a result of two Boeing 767 passenger jets hitting the Twin Towers. Two more planes crashed, one hitting the Pentagon killing 125 more, and another in a Pennsylvania field. All the dead in the four planes were counted up to 266. The total dead came out to be 3391 deceased, more dead than at Pearl Harbor or on D-Day in World War II. These attacks were orquestrated by the 22-year old radical Islamic leader, Osama bin Laden. By the end of the next day, newly elected President George W. Bush Jr. gave a speech saying the following: "On Spetember the eleventh, enemies of freedom committed an act of war against our country...Americans have known surprise attacks--but never like before on thousands of civilians. All of this was brought upon us in a single day--and night fell on a different world, a world where freedom itself was under attack". In the same address to Join Session of Congress, Bush has this to say: "...Our Nation--this generation--will lift a dark threat of violence from our people and our future. We will rally the world to this cause, by our efforts and by our courage. We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail". For the next couple of weeks, fire-fighters, police, paramedics, and volunteer civilians of New York City worked tirelessly to bring up the rubble of the towers at "Ground Zero", attempting to save anyone that might still have been alive. On October sevent of 2001, while revealing his decision to send troops to the Middle East to the US, Bush said this: "Today we focus on Afghanastan, but the battle is broader. If any governement sponsors the outlaws and killers of the innocents, they have become outlaws and murderers, themselves. And they will take that lonely path at their own peril...That battle is now joined on many fronts. We will not waver; we will not tire; we will not falter; and we will not fail. Peace and freedom will prevail". Not only were there three-thousand three-hundred ninety-one deaths in the terrorist attacks on September Eleventh, but there were thousands more who lost those friends and loved ones, fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, because of the Terrorists who attacked the United States on it's own soil. Thousands more people had to mourn the loss of the people they loved and cared about. And still more were in shock of the attack on American soil. So many lost so much. On that day, Americans mourned. Some of the last words in President Bush's speech on the very day of the attacks were, "None of us will ever forget this dat". That day, Americans vowed to never forget, and those same people, along with President Bush, vowed to get the people behind the attacks. To this day, I still mourn the lives lost. To this day, I support our troops who are out to end terrorism. To this day, I give thanks to those who have given their support to those who lost. And to this day, I still fight for the people who lost. GOD BLESS AMERICA (Less)
