As part of the British Invasion, his hit (More) Ian Timothy Whitcomb (b. 10 July 1941, at Woking Hospital, Woking, Surrey, England) is an entertainer, singer, songwriter, author, record producer, and actor. As part of the British Invasion, his hit song You Turn Me On reached number 8 on Billboard magazine's Hot 100 in 1965. He has written several books on popular music, beginning with After the Ball, published by Penguin Books (Britain) and Simon & Schuster (USA) in 1972. He accompanies his singing by playing the ukulele and, through his records, concerts, and movie work, has helped to stimulate the current revival of interest in the instrument. His recreation of the music played aboard the RMS Titanic in the film of that name won a Grammy Award in 1998 for package design and a nomination for Ian's liner notes (Titanic: Music As Heard On The Fateful Voyage).--------------------Early Life Whitcombs father, Pat, worked for his fathers film company British Screen Classics in the 1920s, eventually co-starring in Mr. Nobody (released by Fox in 1929). His father was a schooled pianist and encouraged Ian to play. Ians younger brother, Robin, accompanied him on drums in their first bands, notably The Ragtime Suwanee Six (1960-62) whose manager was Denny Cordell, later to produce records by Procol Harum and Joe Cocker. Robin went on to play tambourine on Sonny & Chers hit "I Got You Babe" (1965). Growing up, Ians chief musical inspirations were Phil Harris, Johnnie Ray, Guy Mitchell, Elvis Presley, and George Formby. He was sent away to boarding school in 1949 (Newlands, Seaford, Sussex) at age 8 and there he soon formed a tissue paper-and-comb band to entertain staff and boys with current hits such as "Riders in the Sky."--------------------------Early Career At Bryanston, a public school in Dorset, England, Whitcomb started a skiffle group in 1957 and then a rock and roll band in 1959. In the early 1960s, while studying history at Trinity College, Dublin, he became a founding member of Dublins first rhythm and blues band, Bluesville. Their second record release, This Sporting Life, charted in America in 1965. Whitcombs next recording single, You Turn Me On reached Billboards number 8 spot in July 1965. During his summer vacation in 1965, Whitcomb went to America to appear on such television shows as Shindig, Hollywood A Go-Go, and American Bandstand. He played the Hollywood Bowl with the Beach Boys in 1965 and then toured with the Rolling Stones, The Kinks, and Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs. N-Nervous! Whitcombs next release, was recorded in Hollywood and reached Billboards top 50. He returned to Dublin for his history finals and received a B.A degree. In 1966 he turned to early popular song: his version of a 1916 comedy number, Where Did Robinson Crusoe Go with Friday on Saturday Night? was a West Coast hit, reviving the ukulele before the emergence of Tiny Tim. After making four albums for Capitol and producing Mae West on an album called Great Balls of Fire for MGM in 1972, he returned to England where he began his writing career with After the Ball. He later wrote Tin Pan Alley, A Pictorial History (1919-1939) and a novel, Lotusland: A Story of Southern California. Returning to Hollywood, Whitcomb starred in and wrote L.A.My Home Town (BBC TV; 1976) and Tin Pan Alley (PBS; 1974). He also provided the music for a documentary film, Bugs Bunny: Superstar (UA), which was narrated by Orson Welles. For Play-Rite Music he cut 18 piano rolls that were included in an album, Pianomelt. His other albums reflected his research into the genres of ragtime, Tin Pan Alley, vaudeville, and music hall. These, beginning with Under the Ragtime Moon (1972), were released on several labels including Warner Bros., United Artists, and Decca. During that time he also wrote and produced singles for Warner Bros. country division, most notably Hands, a massage parlor story, and A Friend of a Friend of Mine. In the 1980s Whitcomb published Rock Odyssey: A Chronicle of the Sixties: Ian Whitcomb, a memoir of the 1960s and described by The New York Times as the best personal account of this period. He also published Ragtime America (Limelight Editions, 1988), followed by a memoir of life as a British expatriate living in Los Angeles, Resident Alien (Century, 1990). He produced a British documentary on black music, Legends of Rhythm and Blues (part of the series Repercussions, made by Third Eye Productions for Channel Four in 1984). During this time he also hosted a radio show in Los Angeles for what turned out to be 15 years, taking the program from KROQ to KCRW and finally to KPPC. His songs can he heard in the films Bloody Movie (1987), Cold Sassy Tree (1989), Encino Man (1992), Grass (1999), Stanleys Gig (2000), The Cats Meow (2001), After the Storm (2001), Last Call (2002), Sleep Easy, Hutch Rimes (2002), Lonesome Jim (2005), and Fido (2006).--------------------------Today Ian Whitcomb performs at music festivals throughout America. He continues to write, and he makes frequent guest appearances. Beginning November 7, 2007, Whitcomb can be heard on his Internet radio program Wednesday evenings from 10:00 p.m. until midnight (PST) at LuxuriaMusic.com. Ian Whitcomb lives in Southern California with his wife Regina and their dog, Rollo. (Less) Channel: 123video

The band's name came from the cover of the Grateful Dead's album From the Mars Hotel.
Other members of the were Mark Ellen, who later went on to present BBC TV's Old Grey Whistle Test music show and become the founding editor of British music magazine Q and Adam Sharples, currently Director General, Work, Welfare and Equality Group at the Department for Work and Pensions
On January 19, 2006, Channel 4 broadcast a docudrama entitled Tony Blair: Rock Star, which stated that the band's first gig was at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, during which the drum kit fell apart, and that the band played a total of six gigs before disbanding. It was also mentioned that Blair passed his audition for the band primarily because he was the only auditionee who knew all the words to the song he was asked to sing, "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, whom he imitated during his performances.
Stop the War, the coalition that organised the march of close to two million people in London just before the war has brought together a band including a front man supposed to be Tony Blair and is releasing a download only single for 1st week of January 2007 to try to get a chart topper with Edwin Starr's classic song War

Description: Two Koopa Kids have been sent back to the dungeon (somewhat relating to the SMB3 show), a couple of new faces have met their match, and a couple of bosses reappear just about as fast as they disappear (More) Two Koopa Kids have been sent back to the dungeon (somewhat relating to the SMB3 show), a couple of new faces have met their match, and a couple of bosses reappear just about as fast as they disappear again under Mario's skills, despite new traps. There were some interesting scenarios in the bosses that appear from the 3rd castle to the 4th. And after viewing this video, you'll be equipped with so much info that you might just surprise the bosses themselves. :)
Again, if I missed any bosses, PM me the level location ONLY. I'll be able to find them on my own. Also, I'm taking other requests on this hack, including levels.
3-Castle: Xan Bie (don't know where this boss is from, though it sounds Japanese) is very tough for new players, since the fire attacks, despite they're programmed to aim straight at you, are unpredictable. I can't really give a strategy here, though try to get as much room as possible. You can only damage the boss when it's blue. Jump on the topmost part of the head (jumping on the beak for some reason deals damage to you) when Xan is above the pool of water. Do this three times and Xan will sleep an eternal slumber in the pool.
Wendy is much easier than Xan, though can still surprise you. She'll try to attack you directly, jump on her to force her to retreat. The other phase of the battle is spent dodging Wendy's hearts. You can pretty much know what to do by studying the patterns in this video. Hit her four times to finish her.
4-House: Once again, the level is harder than the boss itself. At first, you don't have enough weapons to finish Big Boo. But if you can manage to hit the On/Off switch down the pipe in the previous room, a Koopa Shell will be the needed third weapon to beat Big Boo. If you somehow destroy one of the weapons before you can hit Big Boo with it, just reset the battle by going in the door.
4-Fortress: This looks like an ordinary battle with Boom Boom, but this fortress is under a "curse". The left and right buttons have switched, so pushing right makes Mario go left, and vice versa. Up and down are unaffected, though. Boom Boom isn't any harder than last time, but the switch actually makes this a little challenging. See my previous video for the strategy for Boom Boom.
4-Castle. Squawk (is that the bird's name from DKC2?) for some reason betrays you (can't read Japanese :( ) and starts attacking. This is more an annoying enemy than a boss, since a bonk on the head is all it needs. The attacks are pretty swift, though, so it's a little tough. Keep running when he starts tossing stones at you, then jump as soon as he charges at you.
Iggy is probably the first boss (besides Big Boo) to require a different attack to deal damage. Spin-jumping on him makes him teleport (he acts a lot like an upgraded Magikoopa). To damage Iggy, get him to fire towards the ceiling at one of the blocks. If it contains a Koopa, grab the shell and kick it at Iggy. If it's a successful hit, Iggy casts a flying Podoboo. Hit Iggy once more after two Podoboos are flying to finish him. (Less) Channel: youtube

Today Bransby Williams is mainly remembered for his portrayal of various characters from the novels of Dickens which he performed well into the television age. In his performances on the Halls, his specialism was as a quick change artist and mimic. A fine example of this is given in "The Stage Door Keeper" where Bransby uses the storyline to introduce a superb variety of artistes. Also included is the classic rendering of Milton Hayes "The Green Eye of the Yellow God". As an aside, "The Caretaker" contains the first mention of "Jack the Ripper" on a recording, which coming only 24 years after the murders, would surely be thought controversial today. A fascinating insight into another side of the entertainment of the Music Hall.
Here he is reciting "The Caretaker".

The Caretaker
By Charles J Winter (1912)
Perfomed by Bransb,y Williams
We've had a fine time and no kid, puss,
We've been 'ere two year come next week.
Still the 'ouse isn't let, and not likely,
Although we've oft'ad a near squeak.
But the yarn that 1 pitch is so creepy,
Not a soul cares the'orrers to face,
So we can rest easy and sing, puss,
There's no place like 'ome.
You want to look over the 'ouse sir? Why certainly, step this way.
Ifs a 'ouse anyone might be proud of, So the 'undreds that's seen it say.
Don't mind the cat jumping about sir: Maybe she is after a rat,
She's at it from morning to night sir,
But there's swarms of them still for all that,
'Ow they get 'ere I'm sure is a marvel,
Leastways 'lwas a marvel to me,
Till one morning I spots on the reason,
When a hextra big fat one I see.
I Jiggers it out like this 'ere sir,
Their numbers would not always swell
If they didn't come out from the sewer,
And besides that accounts for the smell.
Is the smell very bad? well not always,
Why sometimes the air is quite clear.
And I've only 'ad three bouts of typhoid
In the two years I 'ave been 'ere.
No, the smell's not so bad as the damp sir,
For that fairly gets into your bones,
And you'll never be free from rheumatics
While the damp rises off of them stones.
But there what's the good of complaining,
There's even some blessing in that,
For the fungus and moss on the 'earthstone
Makes a lovely soft bed for the cat.
And if I don't sweep over the floors, sir,
For a day or two after some rain,
The mildoo's that white and that pure, sir,
It's as pretty as snow in a lane.
Any sounds? well not doorin' day sir,
But at midnight there's moans and there's groans,
And a 'orrible smell of blue brimstone,
With shrieks and the rattlin' of bones.
As a fact that's the one serious drawback,
And I'm sorry I let an 'int drop,
(Don't give me away to the owner,
Or he'll 'ave me kicked out neck and crop.)
But the sounds that we get 'ere at midnight
Forget them, well I never shall.
I'm sure I'd go stark, staring balmy,
If I 'adn't the cat for a pal.
It comes of that there jack the Ripper,
What once used to live 'ere they say,
'E made this a kind of 'eadquarters
When putting his victims away,
And now all their ghosts come t o'aunt 'im,
A shrieking and dragging great chains.
Well, I'm sure I'm a pretty tough 'andful,
But that there beats the rats and the drains.
What! you like the house from my description?
And you wish that you'd come 'ere before?
Well, I'm 'anged if that don't take the biscuit
Then I shan't be wanted no more!!
I suppose you're some newspaper feller
That wants in a ghost house to hide?
Or a chap that's been chucked by'is sweetheart, And wants to commit suicide?
Or perhaps you are studying 'hefluvias,' If so you've a chance that is prime!
Beg pardon? What! You are the landlord? 0 hang it! I've done it this time!

In only 2 weeks, I would be on vacation from medical school. So I thought to myself, what would I do? I really wanted to make something out of it. I thought about traveling to England or visiting my extended family. It just didn't sound good enough. I thought about what I always wanted to do. Then it occurred to me. I could do Hajj! That was the one major thing missing in my life as a Muslim. I've already done Umrah before and my uncle was going this year. Perfect. And so, through a lot of trials and paperwork, I got my visa and was on my way. Unfortunately, when I arrived in the Chicago airport, I found out that I had no reservation to go to Frankfurt. This was pretty frustrating to me, and of course I grew cynical of the travel agency I was traveling with. I cannot do Hajj without my uncle. My uncle & aunt told me to call the agency and complain to them. I decided to be patient and put my faith in Allah (swt). I figured I would give the Luthansa airlines a chance to work things out. And after 30 minutes of waiting, alhumdullihah, I got a reservation. And I learned that through many trials and testing, everything will work out if you have a Calling to go to Hajj. In Urdu we say the Calling is a Bolawa. I believe there was a reason all this happened. Because I had a tough time before I actually began Hajj, I was prepared for all of the hardships to come. My experience taught me that things may go wrong & it is important to have a lot of patience. When I got stuck on the bus in Saudi Arabia for 16 hours, I believe I was the least frustrated person on the bus. You've just got to put your faith in Allah (swt). So when you go to do Hajj, please remember you've got to have A LOT OF PATIENCE. You will see both the best of things and the worst of things, but you've got to focus on the good. Despite my issues with the travel agency, my Hajj experience turned out great. I loved how the Muslim Ummah came together and helped each other out. We don't see enough of that in the states. Everyone made an extra effort to help each other out and share their belongings and food. I felt the closest to the Ummah when we recited the Talibiya. "Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayk la sharika laka labbayk, innal hamda, wanii'mata, laka walmulk, La Sharika Lak" I also noticed that a lot of people had a tendency to give their own opinions about the detailed aspects of Hajj. You will find someone who will contradict what you say or do in Hajj. For example, some people say that the night of Muzdifah, you can not throw stones till after Fajr. My group had some great Imams with us, such as Imam Nur Abdullah and Imam Magid. They gave us lectures almost every day, and even on the buses. If anyone had any questions about any aspect of Hajj, we could ask them. So the women who left early from Muzdifah asked the Sheikhs if we could throw the stones early, and they said we could. When in doubt, turn to the imams and just do your best. Do not be frustrated by what other people say or do. Just do your own thing as long as it follows the Quran and Sunnah. It is also helpful to read books about Hajj so you don't have to worry about asking other Hajji's for advice. Another thing I learned was if you want something badly enough, it will happen. Just make duas with pure intention. For example, my family and I wanted to do Tawaf on the 1st floor at the Harem and we were able to do so. It is also a good idea to stick with your family so you don't have to worry about where they are at. I recommend that everyone do Hajj at a young, capable age. The younger the age, the better. All muslims who have the opportunity to perform Hajj to do so. All you need is a basic understanding of Islam and know how to pray and make Duas in order to do Hajj. You don't have to be a scholar. Personally, I would perform Hajj again without any hesitance. However, I would love to send someone who has not performed Hajj yet. That would be more important. People ask me how I've changed after Hajj. I'm already a spiritual and religious person. What this experience did for me is it added faith to my faith and increased my spirituality. I listen and read the Quran more than I did before. And I have never had such profound peace as I have had after doing Hajj this year. I feel so happy & pure & much more spiritual. When I arrived back in the Saint Louis airport, my mom said my uncle & I had a glow on our faces. When you have completed Hajj, you know in your heart if your Hajj was accepted or not. To this day, I still have the Talbiya stuck in my head. I feel truly blessed to have done Hajj. Assalamalaikium. (Less) Channel: youtube

However, with the creation of Le Paradis Noir de Lucy, (Lucy's Black Paradise), I have discovered what it truely means to make an amv. Anyways, enough with that dribble and let's get onto the theme of this particular amv. The focus is, of course, around Lucy herself, due to the title that I had given this piece. This, however, is not a mere character profile. Throughout this amv, I have tried to protray the various emotions found in human beings through the eyes of a Diclonius. I have m own personal reasons for putting the scenes together as I did, but I'd rather not spell everything out here; I'm going to let the viewer be the judge and try to feel what I was going for. Ultimately, through the memories found in Lucy's mind, she is truely encased in a black paradise, but maybe that is the best for her. Maybe she was never meant to shine in the sunlight, and was never meant to fall for Kouta. And maybe...it was all just a dream... Technically speaking, this was my first trial with Vegas, so I dunno how well I did. And, sorry that it had to be saved in WMM; I did have it save in AVI, but it was far too large, and I dun know much about conversion yet. Song wise, I had originally heard Marie Laforet's version of Paint it Black in...ironically...Ricky Bobby, and it immediately clicked in my mind that i had to create an amv centered around it. It's such a dark song, and the french version offers more of an exotic, unknown atmosphere to the already stunning piece done originally by the Rolling Stones. Anyways, I hope that you enjoy this little amv of mine, and please, comment/leave opinions if you wish; they are greatly appreciated! Here are the lyrics: Marie douceur, Marie colère Laforêt Marie Marie douceur c'est ainsi que tu me surnommes Tu crois bien sûr me connaître mieux que personne Marie colère existe aussi fais bien attention Je te l'ai déjà dit cent mille fois sur tous les tons Marie douceur a beaucoup beaucoup de patience Oui mais un jour tu verras entrer dans la danse Marie colère avec des éclairs dans les yeux Je sais lequel aura le plus peur de nous deux Marie douceur est avec toi bien trop gentille Si tu persistes à regarder les autres filles Marie colère ne sera plus du tout d'accord Et sautera sur toi toutes griffes dehors Marie douceur aime bien chanter des ballades Mais ne t'y fies pas trop un bon conseil prends garde Marie colère adore les éclats de voix Alors choisis entre les autres filles et moi Marie douceur c'est ainsi que tu me surnommes Tu crois bien sûr me connaître mieux que personne Marie colère est maintenant là devant toi Marie douceur n'est plus qu'un souvenir déjà (Less) Channel: youtube
