Right, so... I've always had a knack for joining fandoms a little late... But damn is this one LATE... 20 years or so, actually. But a recent Robotech New Generation binge- followed by multiple viewings of Shadow Chronicles- left me desperately wanting to do a Scott/Ariel (or Marlene if you prefer) video... They are one of the few ships I have that gets a happy ending (if you go by SC anyway... Scott was a total ASS at the end of the series)
And I had to use this song, as it fit (IMO) and my last attempt with it (POTC) didn't work out so well...
Anyway, I am sorry for the glitches in this, but moviemaker is acting up again, and placing split-second clips in places at random... I try to catch most of them, but some get away from me, since it's hard to see them, when you're dealing with a laggy draft view...
To those of you who were waiting for more RE videos, more will be on the way, as soon as I find a little inspiration... In the meantime, the last several days I've spent downloading Robotech gave the plenty of time to compile a list of songs I plan to use for Scott and Ariel... (Less)

3 weeks had gone by, everyone is still close, nick and lindsey talk everyday for hours on the phone, and myka and joe wouldn't stop watching each other...I talked to Kevin all the time. I have to emphasize, I know calling this a "cover" is wrong, seeing as I only PARTLY stayed true to the song's drums, through the WHOLE song i play some variations of the beats, phrasing and fills, I'm NOT aiming to be accurate to the original drums, I'm just aiming to enjoy myself.. :) And I thouroughly succeeded in doing that, I might add ;)

(please note the toms are tuned and equalized for RECORDING purposes, live they need to be tuned a lot more "open" to sound as good as in the recording. and yes, the kit DOES sound that good live :) i had almost NO equalising on the drums themselves, and ONLY removed some low frequencies from the overheads. basically i only levelled the mix and applied compression.)
*RECORDING*
I miced each individual drum (snare top AND bottom were miced), plus two overheads, ran this through a mixer, got a decent mix and recorded with ONLY *ONE* stereo channel.. no multitrack recorder(s) :) I compressed the final mix to HELL.. to get a more aggressive sound, to make it sit better in with the original song (and hopefully overpower the original drums), detailed compression settings: 20:1 with a threshold of -20db and a compensation gain of 15db, with both separate channels (LEFT and RIGHT, from the mixer) sent to a stereo sub-group, and the compression settings applied to THIS group, it gave a nice compact and aggressive result.. further mastering was needed to equalize the final mix and control peak levels and such, to have it fit in with the original music track. KEVIN: Sure, of course. Hold on. *He hurries into the kitchen while Nick sits on the couch next to Gabrielle and puts his arm around her shoulders.*
NICK: Gabrielle, please look at me... Gabs? *She looks up at him with her tear streaked face.* Don't worry about it. He's a jerk.
GABRIELLE: But how was I so stupid? Why didn't I realize what he was trying to do?

NICK: Depending on what you mean by hurt... Physically? No. Emotionally? Absolutely.

KEVIN: Why, what happened?

GABRIELLE: Well at our school they have different grades graduating on different days. The day after the last day of school is for seniors, then juniors, then sophomores, and tomorrow is freshmen. So I am going to have to see him tomorrow. And...oh no! *She stands up and runs her fingers frustratedly through her hair.*
NICK: *Urgently.* What!?
GABRIELLE: His last name is McKenna.
NICK: Um...not seeing where this is going.
GABRIELLE: Graduation is in alphabetical order. And my last name is Macintyre! I forgot that he always sits right near me!
NICK: Uh oh, I see your problem. Well... *Pauses, thinking.* Well, what if I...
GABRIELLE: What if you...what?
NICK: Well, how would you like me to come to your graduation? I'd have to be disguised, unfortunately, but I could still come and be there in case Jacob tries anything.
GABRIELLE: OH MY GOSH NICK WOULD YOU? *Her face breaks into a huge grin as she throws her arms around him and shrieks.*
JOE: *From the doorway.* Alright...
*Joe and Brynn had walked into the house in time to see Gabrielle attack Nick enthusiastically.*
GABRIELLE: *Backing away so that there is room between her and Nick, and trying to act like nothing had happened.* Oh, hey Joe. Didn't see you there...

*Nick and Gabrielle look at Joe like he has gone crazy while Brynn cracks up and turns to explain to them.*

*Everyone laughs, and Kevin hears them and comes into the living room.*
KEVIN: Oh hey guys, how was your walk?
JOE: *Looking at Brynn and winking.* Mmmm, it was lovely.
KEVIN: *Looking between Brynn, who is giggling, and Joe, who is smiling knowingly at her.* Why... *Suspiciously.* What happened?
JOE: Who's wants food? *He turns and walks into the kitchen.*
KEVIN: *Muttering.* Sometimes, I swear that boy acts like a four year old kid... *Kevin turns and follows his brother into the kitchen.*
BRYNN: *Turning on her crutches and catching sight of Gabrielle's smiling but tear-streaked face.* Gabrielle, what's wrong?
*Gabrielle looks down at her feet.*
NICK: *Standing up and putting his arm around her shoulder.* She's fine, she's just had a rough day. But she'll be okay, she's strong. *He squeezes her quickly and reassuringly with the arm wrapped around her shoulder.*
*Brynn gives Nick a worried look, but he shakes his head quickly and she shrugs and crutches her way into the kitchen, where Joe and Kevin are eating a snack.*
GABRIELLE: *Looking up at Nick.* Thanks. I just don't think I'm ready to tell anyone yet.
NICK: I figured that, and I get it. It's all right. Hey, since it's dark already, would you like me to walk you home? I don't want you to go out there alone, especially after what happened tonight.
GABRIELLE: Are you sure? Then you are going to have to walk back to your house by yourself!
NICK: *Flexing his muscles.* It's okay, I think I can defend myself in a dangerous situation.
GABRIELLE: *Giggling.* Impressive.
NICK: Thank you, thank you... *Grins at her, and then turns to yell into the kitchen.* Kev, I'll be back soon, I'm going to walk Gabrielle home!
KEVIN: *Hollering back...* Isn't it sorta late, Nick? Do you just want me to drive you?
NICK: Nah, it's okay. I am wide-awake, I'll be fine. See you when I get back.
*Nick opens the door for Gabrielle and puts his arm reassuringly around her as they walk to her home, two best friends under the summer moon.*

PAIGE: *Just to Gabrielle and Brynn.* This place is amazing. It's so beautiful!
BRYNN: Yeah, and the sand dunes were so much fun.
*Paige and Gabrielle give her a look.*
BRYNN: *Innocently.* What?!?
GABRIELLE: Well, we were wondering whether they would have been as much fun if you had been here alone.
PAIGE: Yeah, without Joe.
BRYNN: Okay, guys, I am not going to lie. Of course not!
*Paige and Gabrielle laugh.*
BRYNN: But enough about me, what about you and Nick, Gabrielle?
PAIGE: Yeah, what is going on between you two?
GABRIELLE: Nothing! He is just being nice because I was so upset about hurting his eye.
*Paige and Brynn look at each other, then back at Gabrielle.*
BRYNN: Yeah right. "Gabs"? No one calls you that!
GABRIELLE: *Defensively.* He does. And I like it!
PAIGE: Our point exactly.
BRYNN: And what about today, when you both fell outside the car?
GABRIELLE: *Also trying to act innocent.* Nothing! We fell, that's all.
PAIGE: Mm hmm, sure. But then why did he say that's the second time? Has this happened before?
GABRIELLE: No! Um, not really. Well sorta. Okay once. And it was nothing! He was teasing me about my size so I tried to hit him. Then, in self defense, he put me in a headlock. What's wrong with self defense?!
*Paige and Brynn look at each other again.*
BRYNN: *Snorts.* Self defense.
*Their bickering is interrupted by Kevin.*
KEVIN: Are you guys ready to go in the water yet?
*The girls, who had been standing with their backs to the boys while they took off their outer-clothes, now turned to face them. All three boy's jaws dropped. Gabrielle, Paige, and Brynn looked at each other self-consciously. Kevin gained his speech back first.*
KEVIN: Um, wow, guys. You look... Paige, you look. Wow. Amazing.
PAIGE: *Smiles at him.* Thanks.
JOE: Brynn, I, uh, love your bathing suit. You in it. You in your bathing suit.
KEVIN: Smoooooth, Joe.
BRYNN: *Looking down at her bathing suit.* Oh, yeah, well I thought the colors were so much fun. I really like the yellow and green together.
JOE: *Transfixed, his eyes on Brynn.* Oh, I don't think it's the colors that I like.
KEVIN: Joe, shut up before you make an idiot of yourself. Oh, wait, too late for that now.
*Brynn and Paige laugh while Joe looks slightly embarrassed and pulls his eyes away from Brynn.*
KEVIN: *Notices Nick staring at Gabrielle.* Uh, Nick?
NICK: Huh? What? Yeah, I would like one. Thanks.
*Everyone laughs, while Nick looks confused.*
NICK: Wait, what did you say?
KEVIN: *Chucking at the bewildered expression on his brother's face.* Nothing. So are you going to come in the water or stare at Gabrielle all day?
*Nick looks completely embarrassed as everyone laughs. Before anyone else can make a comment, however, Joe turns to Brynn.*
JOE: So Brynn, are you coming?
BRYNN: *Suddenly looking apprehensive about the temperature of the water.* Isn't it kinda cold? I mean...
*Joe, ignoring her protests, grabs her around the waist and throws her over his shoulder. She struggles, but he doesn't let go until he is knee deep in the ocean. He throws her out in front of her and she comes up, spluttering.*
BRYNN: Joseph Jonas, you have gone too far!
*She lunges at him and dunks his head under the water. This time, it's Joe who comes up, dripping wet and incredulous. He looks at the sopping girl beside him, and they both start to crack up. They look towards the figures watching them on the shore, and then back at each other, and grin wickedly.*
