If you have not read Libba Bray's The Sweet Far Thing, I highly suggest that you do not watch this video as there will be spoilers regarding two of the primary female characters - Felicity & Pippa. I was hesitant about tackling this concept, but it was a big part of the third book so I attempted to give it a try. I'm warning you right now though, if you are uncomfortable at the slightest hint of any same sex relationship, then click backspace right now. In TSFT (hopefully everyone who is reading this knows this), it develops that Felicity and Pippa are more than just really close friends. Felicity, after suffering so much chidhood abuse from her father, is a closet lesbian, unable to act upon her feelings but demonstrates them nonetheless in her possessive and protective relationship with her close friend Pippa. For her part, it is suggested that Pippa (now corrupted by the Winterlands) is using Fee's love to manipulate her, though there is also the suggestion that Pippa is bisexual. This subplot caused some controversy, from readers who didn't pick up on any indication of a more intimate relationship. I personally didn't see it either. However, this video is my attempt to portray Felicity's feelings for her friend, that she has so long strugged to keep a secret. It is (obviously) supposed to take place before Pippa dies and enters the Realms. The scenes are tastefully put together - meant to imply Felicity's emotions and feelings, without overtly showing them. I also attempted to highlight the subtle nuances of looks, expressions and movements. There is nothing overtly sexual, at least not considering Felicity's provocative personality. I wanted to put a disclaimer up because if you think the subject matter will make you uncomfortable, don't watch it! DO NOT post negative, homophobic comments concerning the relationship between the girls or I will disable commenting and put this video on private. And that's not fair to the majority of my mature viewers. If you weren't a fan of the subplot that's fine but remember, I didn't write the book, so don't take it out on my video. This new video is basically about Pippa and how she slowly becomes corrupted by her time in the Realms. I tried to leave the ending ambiguous but if you haven't read TSFT, I highly suggest you DON'T watch this! I don't want anyone complaining to me that I "spoiled" the book for them. In an attempt to avoid confusion, I'll try to address some questions in FAQ style (cause its fun that way ;) ) OMG! Is there a movie coming out for these books? Yes. Sometime in 2008/2009. And no, these little movies that I do are my own creation for the characters. I am not affiliated with Charles Sturridge or Libba Bray so I don't know anything else about the movie. Do you take requests? No. Although I have enjoyed all the ones I have made so far, I just don't have the time to do all of them. Where are THESE clips from? I was surfing the net when I stumbled upon this ridiculous but endearing 1985 fantasy tale called LEGEND. It's cheesy, but the beautiful scenery just screamed REALMS! (and Winterlands) to me. What's the song called? "Bring me to Life", by Evanescence Cool vid, but wait... I don't recall any of this happening in the books? What's with the ring, the necklace, the evil dancing? Told you this was cheesy, didn't I? Please don't try to overanalyze the clips and match them to the novels. You'll give yourself a headache trying to find the original source. I take a little bit of creative license in my vids - I'm simply trying to capture the general mood and plot of the story - ie. Pippa becomes corrupted, as her OTT wicked queen costume shows. The beautiful meadows = realms & the snow/ice storm = winterlands. Why is Pip dressed like a medieval princess? It's an allusion to The Lady of Shalot poem frequently mentioned in AGATB. Plus, thats the costume the girl was wearing. It's ok but that girl looks too (young/plain/etc) to play Pippa? Everyone is entitled to their opinion but remember that beauty is subjective. So please don't feel compelled to comment on how much you dislike the actress because frankly, it doesn't matter. This girl is about 20 yrs too old to play Pippa now, anyway. So its a moot point. OMG! I just read TSFT and I can't believe that ********! I just finished the book, too. However, thats not true for everyone. So please refrain from spoiling the plot. Even if you put a "spoiler" in front, I guarantee you someone's gonna read it anyway. I know its a pain and I'm very sorry but I've seen this happen before. People don't read my warnings and then they get pissed because someone "ruined" the book for them. Again, my apologies for the inconvenience :) Ok, hope you enjoy the vid.
