It is considered as anti-war song - but when I was listening to it, I got the CRAZY IDEA... Imagine, that Zira, one of the baddies from Lion King movies, sings this song - this prayer. She is praying for a destruction of all lions from Pride Lands... I know, it is really crazy, but just imagine it... So I started thinking about it and suddenly... I was in Africa in Serengeti National Park. When I came near to an elephant graveyard (which looks very familiar to me), I heard something. It sounded like a distant song. I followed it and in large cave, near the graveyard, I found her. A lone lioness. It was Zira! She was older, but I recognized her immediately. But how it can be possible? She is still alive! Everybody thought she died in the river. At first she was little afraid, because I was stranger to her, but after some time she told me everything. She was all alone too long... She survived her fall into the river, because it was not as wild as it seemed to be. So she soon managed to get out of the water to the river bank near this graveyard. She was lying there, exhausted, hurt and alone. And then, some hyenas, still loyal to the Scar's legacy, found her and helped her to get into this cave. She got well quickly, and since the time she lives here. She did not return, because all lions were against her and it was too hard for her to admit that she was wrong. So nobody knew, except few hyenas, that she is still alive. I had to promise her, that I would never tell to lions from Pride Lands the true about her. Then she lent me her diary. It was interesting reading. She described in it every moment of her life, mainly about Scar and about her fight against her, as she used to say, "biggest enemy, Simba, who caused all my suffering and pain." So I could reconstruct her version of the entire story that we know as story about "The Lion King". But one part of her diary was very strange -- it was named "Our Solemn Hour" and there was written some prayer. It was the song that lured me into this cave. I asked her and she sang it for me. And now you can hear it too... Ladies and gentlemen, Zira is back! And this is her prayer: Our Solemn Hour Sanctus Espiritus, redeem us from our solemn hour Sanctus Espiritus, insanity is all around us Sanctus Espiritus! Sanctus Espiritus! Sanctus Espiritus! In my darkest hours I could not foresee That the tide could turn so fast to this degree Can't believe my eyes How can you be so blind? Is the heart of stone, no empathy inside? Time keeps on slipping away and we haven't learned So in the end now what have we gained? Sanctus Espiritus, redeem us from our solemn hour Sanctus Espiritus, insanity is all around us Sanctus Espiritus, is this what we deserve, can we break free from chains of never-ending agony? Are they themselves to blame, the misery, the pain? Didn't we let go, allowed it, let it grow? If we can't restrain the beast which dwells inside it will find its way somehow, somewhere in time Will we remember all of the suffering Cause if we fail it will be in vain Sanctus Espiritus, redeem us from our solemn hour Sanctus Espiritus, insanity is all around us Sanctus Espiritus, is this what we deserve, can we break free from chains of never-ending agony? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm sorry, if someone will find this video too rough, but it's true - today the bad guys, sorry - lions, will win... One personal note: I always liked Zira in Lion King 2 - she was one of my favorites - she had really her own personality... although she was on the bad side. But she wasn't evil, she didn't kill anybody, unlike Scar, only her hate corrupted her mind. (BTW Did you know, that "Zira" means "hate" in Swahili?) One technical note: This video has about 200 parts, and every part has different speed, mainly because the extensive lip-sync job. I worked hard on it for many hours. (Less)
