Description: "The Revival of Kuwaiti Culture and Traditions" I started this project thinking of how the young generation of Kuwaitis has discarded and replaced so many words from the Kuwaiti accent (More) "The Revival of Kuwaiti Culture and Traditions" I started this project thinking of how the young generation of Kuwaitis has discarded and replaced so many words from the Kuwaiti accent dictionary. I wanted to revive the old Kuwaiti words, phrases, morals, and traditions so I defined my audience first. The new Kuwaiti generation is young, more open minded than the last generation, and most importantly most of them don't like reading. Well, now I'm making them read in a way that they would like to read. Media literacy is the modern way of education. It's more interactive and it develops the ability of critical thinking and analyzing. I wanted to present the Kuwaiti words and phrases in a fun way rather than a lecture way. This would make the words stick best in their minds. An audio too was added to the clip to help in pronunciation. I chose a popular Kuwaiti duet for AbdulHussain AbdulRida and Soad Abdulah, called "Operate Shahr El Asal" and in English it means "The Honeymoon". The music and dialogue contain pure Kuwaiti words, which is perfect for my project. The song has a funny story that young Kuwaiti generation would like to listen to it. I used animated text in my "Visual Explanation" project and with only text I explained the Kuwaiti words and phrases. The animation helped in expressing the emotions in each sentence and it also helped in explaining some word meanings in the clip. How is TEXT considered visual explanation? Well, if we went back to the Hieroglyphics writing, which is the origin of text, we will find that words were described in icons and symbols and even letters were also symbols and drawings. But with time, text had developed in each language and letters were created and designed differently and each language had created their own symbols. So, now we come to agree that text is visual not only because you can see it but also for the reason that each letter and word are forming an individual symbol and icon. The colors used in this project were only black and white and an old film effect was added to give the feeling of an old Kuwaiti clip.
