Review: 3 Types Of Single People:
Those Single By Creation (1 Corinthians 7:7)
Those Single By Circumstance (1 Corinthians 7:15)
Those Single By Choice (Matthew 19:12)
"Knowing God results in every other kind of understanding." PROVERBS 9:10 (LB)
How Do I Make The Most Of The Single Life?
1. By Accepting My Current Circumstances
"I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." PHILIPPIANS 4:11&13 (NIV & NKJV)
"He has sent this message to us in Babylon: It will be a long time. Therefore build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce.'" JEREEMIAH 29:28 (NIV)
"This is the day which the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." PSALM 118:24 (NASB)
2. By Discovering And Fulfilling My Life's Mission
"Don't act thoughtlessly, but try to find out and do whatever the Lord wants you to." EPHESIANS 5:17 (LB)
"Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. " MATTHEW 22:38 (NKJV)
"God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God's many kinds of blessings." 1 PETER 4:10 (LB)
"Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God's wonderful kindness and love." ACTS 20:24 (NLT)
3. By Developing Godly Relationships.
PSALM 1:1-3
"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers."
"You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart." 1 PETER 1:22 (NLT)
"By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." JOHN 13:35 (NIV)
"This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." JOHN 15:12-13 (NKJV)
4. By Making The Most Of My Freedom
"When you're unmarried, you're free to concentrate on simply pleasing the Master. Marriage involves...so many more demands on your attention. The time and energy that married people spend on caring for and nurturing each other, the unmarried can spend in becoming whole and holy instruments of God." 1 Corinthians 7:32-34 (MSG)
"For you have been called to live in freedom—not freedom to satisfy your sinful nature, but freedom to serve one another in love." GALATIANS 5:13 (NLT)

....MESSAGE NOTES FOR THIS WEEK....
SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE August 26th, 2007
2 SAMUEL 11:2-5
The Great Commandment...
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart ...and soul and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment." MATTHEW 22:37-38 (NIV)
"Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." JOHN 17:3 (NIV)
HOW DO I DEVELOP SPIRITUAL INTIMACY WITH GOD?
2 SAMUEL 11:2-5 (NIV)
"One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, "Isn't this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite?" Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. (She had purified herself from her uncleanness.) Then she went back home. The woman conceived and sent word to David, saying, "I am pregnant."
1. BY REMEMBERING GOD'S GOODNESS.
"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge." PSALM 51:1-4 (NIV)
"Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us. The Scriptures give us patience and encouragement so that we can have hope." ROMANS 15:4 (NCV)
2 BY RELYING ON GOS'S GRACE
"Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me." PSALMS 51:5-11 (NIV)
"I will...not forget the glorious things God does for me. He
forgives all my sins. He heals me. He ransoms me from hell. He surrounds me with love...He fills my life with good things...He
is merciful and tender toward those who don't deserve it; He is
slow to get angry...He never bears a grudge...He has not punished us as we deserve for our sins." PSALM 103:2-11 (LB)
"For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey Him and the power to do what pleases Him." PHILIPPIANS 2:13 (NLT)
"And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him." 2 CORINTHIANS 3:18 (LB)
3. BY REFOCUSING ON GOD'S GIFT
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." ROMANS 6:23 (NKJV)
"Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you. Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." PSALM 51:12-17 (NIV)
"Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer." ROMANS 12:1 (TEV)
"Give yourselves completely to God since you have been given
new life." ROMANS 6:13 (NLT) (Less)

This two and a half-minute clip contains footage from a documentary about Christian, a 35-lb. lion cub purchased in 1969 at British department store Harrod's by best pals John Rendall and Anthony "Ace" Bourke (whose last name is misspelled in the intro on YouTube). A year later, when Christian had reached 185 lbs. and outgrown his caretakers' home, they brought him to a wildlife refuge in Kenya so he could roam free. The friends visited sporadically, until 1974, when the refuge's overseer reported that Christian had not been seen for more than nine months — a sign that he had fully adapted to the wild. But Rendall and Bourke managed to find Christian, who by then was leading his own pride. Their emotional reunion, which turned out to be their last, is nothing short of amazing. Kleenex recommended. Individuals suffering from severe obesity generally die 10-20 years prematurely, have a much higher rate of several cancers and have a significantly higher likelihood of additional medical problems including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, sleep apnea and depression. Studies have shown that the vast majority of individuals suffering from severe obesity are not able to get their excessive weight under control on their own without the aid of surgery: dieting and exercise alone fails in 95% of weight loss attempts. Studies have also shown that weight loss surgery increases and individual's lifespan and often reverses many of the severe medical problems associated with obesity. (Less)
