Sarah Louise Heath Palin ( born February 11, 1964) is the current governor of the U.S. state of Alaska, and is the Republican vice presidential nominee in the 2008 United States presidential election. In 2006, Palin was sworn in as the governor of Alaska, becoming the first woman and youngest person to hold the office. She is the first governor born after Alaska achieved statehood. Palin was elected to two terms on the Wasilla, Alaska, city council from 1992 to 1996, then won two terms as mayor of Wasilla from 1996 to 2002. from St. Paul, Minnesota. Palin has strongly promoted oil and natural gas resource development in Alaska, including in the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), where such development has been the subject of a national debate. She also helped pass a tax increase on oil company profits. Palin has followed through on plans to create a new sub-cabinet group of advisers to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions within Alaska. When asked about climate change after becoming Senator McCain's presumptive running mate, she stated that it would "affect Alaska more than any other state", but she added, "I'm not one though who would attribute it to being man-made." Shortly after taking office, Palin rescinded 35 appointments made by Murkowski in the last hours of his administration, including that of his former chief of staff James "Jim" Clark to the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority. In March 2007, Palin presented the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA) as the new legal vehicle for building a natural gas pipeline from the state's North Slope. This negated a deal by the previous governor to grant the contract to a coalition including BP (her husband's former employer). Only one legislator, Representative Ralph Samuels, voted against the measure, and in June, Palin signed it into law. On January 5, 2008, Palin announced that a Canadian company, TransCanada Corporation, was the sole AGIA-compliant applicant. In August 2008, Palin signed a bill into law giving the state of Alaska authority to award TransCanada Pipelines $500 million in seed money and a license to build and operate the $26-billion pipeline to transport natural gas from the North Slope to the Lower 48 through Canada. In response to high oil and gas prices, and the resulting state government budget surplus, Palin proposed giving Alaskans $100-a-month energy debit cards. She also proposed providing grants to electrical utilities so that they would reduce customers' rates. She subsequently dropped the debit card proposal, and in its place she proposed to send each Alaskan $1,200 from the windfall surplus resulting from high oil prices. In 2007, Palin supported the Alaska Department of Fish and Game policy allowing Alaska state biologists to hunt wolves from helicopters as part of a predator control program intended to increase moose populations. The program was criticized by Defenders of Wildlife and predator control opponents, and prompted California State Representative George Miller to introduce a federal bill (H.R. 3663) seeking to make the practice illegal. In March 2008, a federal judge in Alaska upheld the practice of hunting wolves from the air, though limited its extent. When police put out information about wanted criminals, the media do the opposite, they hide the description so the public wont be able to help the police in locating the wanted criminals. The few times when the media show the identity of a criminal are only when the criminals are Swedish. Immigrant criminals are often presented as Swedes by the media, leaving the impression that Swedes are prone to and overrepresented committing violent crime. Sweden is experiencing a massive crime wave. Most of the violent crime is committed by asylum seekers and immigrants. The public is not told anything about how bad the crime is. The government issue reports and statement by "experts" who are paid by the government to lie to the public. They try to make people believe that the crime situation is normal, but its not. Sweden has the highest crime levels in Europe according to Interpol. The press will go after non-socialist politicians. One politician was having a glass of wine at a restaurant. TV4 used a reporter that she was having dinner with to set her up, coordinating with a photographer from Aftonbladet that was sitting outside the restaurant. They published pictures of the politician, Schenstrom as she was kissed by the male journalist. They tried to make her look bad, but the male journalist was gay so their attempt to discredit her failed. Next, all media started writing and speculating about this encounter, after dozens of articles without substance, she resigned. Another politician were driven out by TV4 who told a blatant lie about her. The lies were discovered but TV4 never apologized. TV4 is now on trial for their lies. TV, Radio and Press in Sweden are filled with extremists from the 1968 left. According to Goran Skytte, a journalist, many politicians, most journalists, producers and managers in media are those who loved Stalin, Lenin and Mao and came from the 68 extreme radical left. Janne Josefsson, a journalist said: "The school for journalists was called "the Communistschool" back then. The students often had political ambitions in seeking work as journalists, it was scary. I worked at State TV and noticed people were being blacklisted. Those who wanted debate immigration policy were called "racists", it was scary. The greatest letdown my generation of journalists are responsible for is that they purposely never reported the huge immigration problems. We have purposely never reported the gigantic problems related to immigration. Here was Allen Iverson, in his Denver Nuggets uniform, a Band-Aid covering a cut above his left eye, resolutely walking through the door of the postgame interview area, past a cordon of TV cameras, tape recorders and security, the final steps of his path roped off from the assembled reporters. In this corner . . . Was the former 76ers star guard. Open. Thoughtful. Informative. Patient. This wasn't the Iverson who, before facing the Sixers in Denver in January, said, "I don't care anything about them," and said that despite having been with them for 10 years "they kicked me out as if I had been there 1 day." This was a gracious, contemplative Iverson. The warrior in him would have to wait until the game started. "I'm 32 years old now, simple as that," Iverson said before last night's 115-113 Sixers win. "That's the only answer I can give you. I don't make the mistakes, do some of the things I was accustomed to doing anymore. I don't want to be that person that I used to be. "But I don't regret any of it, because I feel like going through what I went through here, my ups and downs, helped me to be the man I am today . . . I would never want to throw away the experience I had in Philadelphia. I don't regret anything, but I'm just not that same person. "I still make mistakes off the basketball court. I still turn it over on the basketball court. But I think I'm a better person, a better player at this point in my life." He dealt with the media for 15 minutes, 6 seconds, then left to complete his preparation for his first game against his former team in his former arena. When he came through the tunnel leading to the court to warm up, he ran directly to center court, kissed the Sixers logo and waved to however many people were already there. When public-address announcer Matt Cord - who usually low-keys the visitors' lineup during introductions - began a louder, more complete introduction of Iverson, it was virtually impossible to hear his final words. The sellout crowd was already standing, applauding, cheering wildly. The ovation lasted 1 minute, 5 seconds and might have gone longer had Cord not begun introducing Iverson's backcourt mate, Anthony Carter. As a frame of reference, when Charles Barkley returned to the Spectrum for the first time with the Phoenix Suns in 1993, his standing ovation lasted 42 seconds. Through it all, Iverson remained stoical. He walked a few steps in different directions. Finally, he cupped his hand to his ear, a signature move from the best days of the Iverson Era. The sound level rose. He said he wanted the entire experience to be positive. And it was. There were Iverson jerseys all over the stands. There were also some Andre Iguodala jerseys. And at least one Thaddeus Young jersey. You knew Iverson was taking it all in. Meanwhile, his mom, Ann, sat courtside in the second row near the Nuggets' bench, signing dozens of autographs. But earlier, he reflected on the Iverson who came to Philadelphia in 1996 as the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft. "I came to this organization, I was 21, I thought I was ready," he said. "I wasn't ready. I never had a dime in my life, and then all of a sudden I came into a bunch of millions . . . I was a fish out of water. "I did a lot of things [with the Sixers] . . .
