So PLEASE don't ask for a review of the Go Phone or the Shift Changer. That said...here goes... This is a review of the "Engine Sentai Go-onger Shudaika Single Engine Soul Set" which is a Limited Edition set containing the Theme Songs Single and a Limited Edition Engine Soul (Theme Melody Version). I'll start with the CD single. It contains both the OP theme song as well as the ED song. Also included are Karaoke versions of each. The tracklist is as follows... 1. Engine Sentai Go-onger 2. Engine First Lap -Type Normal- 3. Engine Sentai Go-onger (Original Karaoke) 4. Engine First Lap -Type Normal- (Original Karaoke) 1. 炎神戦隊ゴーオンジャー 2. 炎神ファーストラップ-Type Normal- 3. 炎神戦隊ゴーオンジャー(オリジナル・カラオケ) 4. 炎神ファーストラップ-Type Normal-(オリジナル・カラオケ) I have to admit...the OP theme song is awful. I can't tell what kind of song they were going for. Surf? Who knows... Truth be told though, I think the song drones and whines until it comes to an eventual end. The ED theme song isn't as bad, but it really feels like they could've plopped any lyrics in and made it the ending song for any anime series... So this single isn't for everybody. It surely isn't as good as the Gekiranger single, but i'd say not as bad as the Magiranger themes. The Engine Soul in this set is pretty lame IMO. Not only are the tunes pretty poor quality [they remind me of Megaranger's Keitaizer for god's sake!], but the OP theme song is played three times! Why couldn't one of them be the Ending song?? If you want to hear a great example of toys playing music, check out my upcoming review of the Super Geki Claw from Gekiranger [later this week]. Putting out this set was an incredibly successful marketing gimmick. This set has hit higher on the charts than any previous Sentai Single. The songs and the Engine Soul are far from being masterpieces...but it is guaranteed to be a Collector's Item. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this short review!
