Sex Adik & Con Man Andrew Sia Yu:
The alleged con man who broke into the news recently admitted Tuesday that his trouble with the law has its roots in his being a "womanizer."
"I'm super friendly with women," said the con man, who gave his true name as Andrew Sia Yu, 32.
Accompanied by his lawyer, Nelson Borja, Yu appeared before reporters Tuesday at the San Juan police headquarters to break his long silence on the cases lodged against him.
"There's no truth to all the allegations hurled against me," Yu said, noting that most of the women who filed or expressed desire to file cases against him are known to him.
Superintendent Rodelio Jocson, San Juan police chief has filed rape, car theft, concealing true name and robbery charges against Yu.
"Some of those who filed complaints against me are my friends. I don't know why they are doing this to me," Yu said.
He publicly apologized to Ilocos Rep. Eric Singson, defeated senatorial bet Luis "Chavit" Singson and Speaker Joe de Venecia for using their names in his alleged con game.
Meanwhile, Borja filed a manifestation Tuesday before the prosecutor's office in Pasig City stating that his clients' true name is Andrew Sia Yu.
The lawyer also asked that the inquest proceedings against his client be set aside as Yu was illegally arrested without the required warrant of arrest.
Borja asked the prosecutor's office that his client be released because the arrest was done "on the basis of mere complaint of private complainant-considering the lapse of time of two days from the alleged commission of the said offense."
When pressed to comment on Borja's motion, Jocson said it is up to the courts to decide Yu's fate. He said Yu is also using seven other names in his illegal activities- Richard Gonzales, Ricky Singson, Mike de Venecia, Ivan Sy, Jake Sia and Andrew Sia.
Yu, defending his use of several names, said he did it to prevent his many women friends from "discovering that I'm dating all of them."
Jocson said a total of 18 people, mostly women, have coordinated with his office for the filing of a formal complaint against Yu, a management undergraduate at the Far Eastern University (FEU).
The San Juan police chief said their initial investigation showed that Yu is not in any way related to the Singsons or De Venecia.
Jocson said he has in his possession an arrest warrant against Yu for estafa before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 105 and for car theft at the Makati RTC Branch 62.
Yu was arrested last week inside the East Asia KTV bar in Pasay City based on a rape and robbery complaint filed by a 22-year-old businesswoman.
Yu said his stay at the San Juan municipal jail is a traumatic experience for him.
"The place is too small and it's very hot inside. After this mess is over I intend to reform for the better," he said.
Yu remained silent when asked by The STAR what advice he would give women to prevent being victimized by him.
Borja, who was hired by Yu's mother and aunt, said his client is a product of a broken family. Yu is staying with his mother while his father is in the United States with his other family.
Con man's complainants pile up
Three more victims showed up at the San Juan police station on Wednesday to file their complaints against alleged swindler and rapist Andrew Sia Yu.
According to "Trixie" (not her real name), the suspect and the man who introduced himself to her as "Andrew Lopez" in 2002 are one and the same.
Trixie filed charges of acts of lasciviousness against Yu. She said the suspect introduced himself to her as a nephew of a politician from Quezon City.
She said that while on their way home from a date, Yu mashed her private parts.
The complainant said that a TV Patrol World news report about Yu on Tuesday prompted her to surface and file the complaint.
Aside from Trixie, two other complaints showed up at the police station.
"Joey," said Yu took his car while Felicito Espino alleged that the suspect ran away with his money.
So far, 21 people have filed their complaints against Yu.
Police, meanwhile, called on Yu's other victims to come out and file their complaints. With reports from Gus Abelgas
The complaints against an alleged con artist has risen to 23 after DZMM reported Wednesday night that a female complainant went to the San Juan Police station to file a new complaint against Andrew Bernard Sia Yu.
The victim, who was not identified, said Yu invited him to go out. After their alleged date, the girl said she was dropped off somewhere in Quezon City
She said Yu left without returning her handbag with her undetermined amount of money and other important documents. The girl said she may not file a case if the documents are returned to her.
San Juan Police advised the victim to file her case in the Quezon City police instead. Yu was not allowed by the PNP to post bail until the court has decided on his fate.
Yu, who landed in jail after being charged for various crimes against almost two dozen people, is now hiding himself from the media spotlight, DZMM reported Thursday.
DZMM reporter David Oro said Andrew Bernard Sia Yu is refusing to talk to the media Wednesday night when reporters attempted to interview him.
Over the weekend, Yu sent his final statement to The Philippine Star and challenged all his victims to bring the cases to the courts and not the press.
He said that all the charges against him were fabricated and challenged his accusers to fight it out in court.
Yu, 32, said the charges against him are "disinformation from some friends and acquaintances in their desperate effort to get one over me."
He challenged his detractors to prove their complaints in court instead of resorting to the media campaign "where my family and I appeared to be helpless and thus continue to suffer mentally, emotionally and psychologically."
"My detractors, including some media practitioners, should also bear in mind that despite the machinery and resources of the government to pin down a hardened criminal, he still has the best weapons under his command and those are the basic rights guaranteed to him by the Constitution under the democratic system of government," said Yu, in his two page letter sent to The Star.
Yu said his detention at the San Juan police jail was not easy considering that he was being taken out almost daily for a confrontation with unknown complainants under full media coverage.
He said his family has "been devastated by the adverse media pronouncements which branded me as rapist, a robber, a carjacker, a swindler and by other names as if I am already convicted in the eyes of public opinion."
In his letter, Yu also asked Jocson not to present him before mediamen anymore to "avoid public condemnation and further humiliation' which might greatly affect or influence the outcome of cases filed in court against him.
He said it is only proper for the complainants to "bring their complaints to the proper judicial authorities and let the law take its course.
"I believe that it is only then that I can prove that there was no rape, no robbery, no carnapping, no estafa, etc." he added.
