The quality came out significantly less than I would have liked but after all this time of fighting it I DON'T CARE. This was meant to be just a simple little joke and now I can't wait to just be done with it, I swear. It all started with the idea of making a live-action segment, which was all good and well. I decided that I'd rather do it with my video camera and go through the extra trouble of making the video simply for the sake of higher quality video (and what kind of extra trouble that crap was, sheesh.). After all, by now everyone should have heard at least one of my many gripes about my poor machine. I could use the webcam, but the frames per second wouldn't be as great, and I couldn't take it anywhere, and blah blah blah. So! I used my video camera, barely squeezing this entire skit into the short amount of blank space I had left on my tape. Having that part done (which took forever because I didn't want to take the time to memorize my lines), I moved to transfer the data onto my computer when luck smote me right across my face. I did not have my data transfer cable. After some brief searching, I came across a different cable, a USB-A to -B Mini cable, which would fit in my camcorder. interesting thing was that Windows Movie Maker wouldn't detect it. Some research on the internet told me that I inevitably needed a DV cable. USB is only for pictures. DV works off of the FireWire protocol, and the only DV-to-USB cable in existence costs over $100. This angers me because between the four working computers in this house, not a single one has a FireWire port. I'm already wanting to replace the motherboard on my computer; buying an expansion card for it is moot at this point.The only place I know i can find a FireWire port is on the other side of town at my parents' house. Being a Man of Very Little Mobility, I simply had to wait for an opportunity to do this. Which was rare. Well, so this project sat for a good few weeks when finally I manage to find an opportunity to get to my parents' house and transfer my data. I was sadly mistaken when I thought it was Shmooth Shailing from there. Just my luck, only on their computer, every time one opened Windows Movie Maker, the program crashed. I think it was around then that I finally started becoming disgusted with this project. Anyway, I couldn't reinstall Windows Movie Maker because there was no Windows XP CD I could use. Thanks, manufacturers! So I searched for some freeware that could get the job done for me. I found VirtualDub, and it did the trick. Except the video moved at a depressing 15 frames per second, I think, and I sounded like the Abominable Snowman in a cave. I tried some other software which finally did it right, in beautiful quality. The catch? The end product was over 2 gigabytes in size. The question from there is, how do I get the farking thing to my computer now? Well, so the project sat for another few weeks, until after Radical R moved into my house and became my roommate. On his acquisition of a car, I journeyed back to my parents' house with a borrowed 180 GB hard drive and finally acquired my raw footage. From there, I had to figure out how to crunch that file size to at least 1 GB. Turns out the raw footage was uncompressed, so with the proper encoding, I crunched it all down to a little over 100 MB. Cut out all the goof-ups and such, and the video is a nice, comfortable size. Oh, but that's not all. I began to notice small, barely fixable details, such as that part of the video you saw where I talk in the wrong direction. I don't feel like finding filler material to cover that twenty seconds of stupid with. Then later on, when in the table, those last two articles of clothing popped up in reverse order? Yeah. I don't feel like fixing that, either. May as well let you know now that I think about it, those last two numbers in the blingz and dollarz columns? They should be switched to match the articles of clothing. Then there's the fact that the video and audio are interlaced, so I can't find a way to cover up the video for the table without cutting out the audio unless I use an image that covers the entire screen, and that was the best I could come up with. One last thing, too: I didn't even communicate my first hypothesis well in the video. I was describing two possible theories on how the government could switch to blingz tokens; one was through economic failure, the other was through becoming too powerful. My first point basically states that the country could be losing too much money, and so we could propose he blingz token rather than struggling to equalize the dollar. I don't want to fix these things... I just want it done... I'm using my webcam from here on out for this crap, heh. I'm not going through this again. Dear god, please enjoy this, or I hope you enjoyed it already. (Less)
