CF card - Lexar 8GB 300x No color correction. CAMERA: (More) Two things I love: 1 - Spring. 2 - a new camera! Camera - Canon 5D Mark II Lens - Canon EF 24-105 f/4 with image stabilization (I LOVE this lens!) CF card - Lexar 8GB 300x No color correction. CAMERA: As you can see, the city explodes with flowers and colors for a few weeks of spring. My intent was simply to push the camera. But, I wanted to find beautiful and interesting scenes, particularly those with color. I tried to use all kinds of light, from the high noon-day light, to overcast light, to sunset, to near dark. I think the camera held up well. The POV shots on the scooter were done with a camera hanging around my neck. I had to sit upright and hold very steady while driving. AUDIO: All of this video was filmed using natural light and natural sounds. In most cases, the sounds came straight from the built-in mic, although some of the scooter driving sounds came from an external lavaliere mic. CHALLENGES: - Image stabilization sounds - the lens has an image stabilization feature, which helps to keep the video steady, but it creates noticeable motor sounds in the built-in audio (not a problem with an external mic). - Shutter speed issues - Some of the fast moving shots look jittery even in the original recording. The camera had a hard time recording that much information. - Workflow - I spent a many painful hours trying to edit with the original H.264 material in Final Cut. The editing was ok, but the export to Vimeo always looked terrible. Usually it was a problem with the video stuttering badly. I was baffled since the compressed video looked good on my machine before uploading. Finally, I went back to the original videos, converted them to XDCAM EX 1080p30. Then, the process worked fine. I edited in 29.97, then compressed using H.264 at 720p with 10,000 kbits/sec bitrate. Adoptamos la deriva como medio de creación y búsqueda, como método que plantea soluciones adaptando la obra a lugares y espacios abordando ideas sobre la reflexión en torno a contextos urbanos y naturales, su relación, construcción y modificación física y social. El carácter procesual de la creación aborda estos conceptos como búsqueda para mejorar el lenguaje y la estrategia. Apartamos la idea del arte como una actividad de ámbito privado, dejando a un lado un arte elitista, confeccionando estrategias de intervención permeables a la sociedad. Nuestro trabajo rechaza el ensimismamiento en el propio mundo del artista apostando por el trabajo en equipo como una práctica enriquecedora, vemos la creación colectiva como medio directo para alcanzar objetivos fuera de todo aislamiento y protagonismo individual. Compartir ideas e inquietudes en la voluntad de crear y plantear reflexiones de forma contundente. Esta convivencia con otra persona y a la vez con la misma creación se convierte en un reto de cooperación fijando metas comunes. Creemos que el deber de la creación colectiva debe acercarse al “colectivo”, planteando opinión, reflexión y diálogo, creando conexión real con el público con esta práctica que intenta no ser algo desligado de la realidad y la vida. Reflexionamos sobre la sociedad de consumo capitalista que construye obras de arte como objeto de mercado aislando las prácticas artísticas y al mismo artista de la comunidad, haciendo que la creación se encuentre desligada de la situación y el contexto social del momento, cuando estos valores de reflexión deberían ser la justificación para la creación, en la cual los espectadores puedan verse reflejados y observar que las realidades de su contexto pueden ser mejoradas. I'm currently a volunteer at one of the Community Policing (More) There is a bit of story behind this video, and the making of it, so please if you have the time, please take a few minutes to read. I'm currently a volunteer at one of the Community Policing Offices where I have have been for over the past 3 years. At the end of the year, we have a Christmas Party/Volunteer Night, where we put on some type of act for everyone who comes. Last year, we decided to make a short video, which was shot in one, on one HV20 by myself. You can view that video here: vimeo.com/1933900 This year, we decided to make another video, but to have a little more of a story line. What was suppose to be approx 5-6 mins, turned into a 15 min video. During the last few month, I've really taken a liking towards cinematography. I purchased a Glidecam 2000 Pro, and also a Jag35Pro adapter. As I am a photography full time, I have a few EF lens that I can use with the adapter. Keep in mind, this video is VERY amateur! I self taught myself the glidecam and adapter while shooting the footage for this video, and all while still learning my HV20 at the same time. So while some shots may actually look good, some are pretty terrible! The idea behind the story came from my friend Jason, who wrote most of the story line, and was there during all the shooting. We shot over 5 days, to be able to get all the volunteers to helped out with the footage. We total over 250 man hours while making this. It was a LOT of work, but we also had a LOT of fun making the video. We're planning on taking a lot of the behind the scene stuff and putting a small video together (in the far far future!) You will notice some of the footage is not very sharp (using the adapter and learning it at the same time) and also some loud humming in a few scenes (vibrating from adapter). I believe that the new models of the jag35pro have this issue fixed now. Since we also shot some scenes on different days, the color balance/exposure is off, but again, all in the learning process. Everything was shot on ONE SINGLE Canon HV20, which is truly an amazing camera. Editing was done on a PC in Adobe Premier Pro CS3. I used the evaluation software of Cineform to remove pulldown from the HV20 as everything was shot in 24P. I'm sure if we had more time I could of spent a lot more time on the scenes and direction to really produce something of calibre that you see here in Vimeo, but I'm quite happy with the final outcome, and we got a lot of laughs from the 80+ audience last night. Finally a big thanks to all the volunteers who worked so hard, our two NPO's, Executive Director, and Program coordinators from our centre who were so patient with us during the shooting.
