Gavin made a panel recording on "Military Security Blankets" where he explained that not only was the military-industrial congressional think-tank complex (MICC-TT) driven Cold War competition between American and Russia already over, but the new measure of a nation's security rests on a "tripod" of its economy, its physical/mental condition and the aspirations of its people.
A schematic of Gavin's "tripod"

Nation-State
Economy---------Condition---------People
And that sub-rosa to the outward nation-states, "wars" will be fought through immoral multi-national corporations with no conscience whatsoever.
General Gavin of the can-do, WW2 "Greatest Generation" is hopeful and optimistic that these problems can be solved by WE THE PEOPLE with a government that is loyal to us not THEY THE CORPORATIONS. To read more about his plans to restore America with neighborhood-based companies read his 1968 book "Crisis Now" written with legendary military reformer, Arthur T. Hadley:

U.S. Army General James M. Gavin discusses his belief that the security of the United States no longer depends on weapons, armed forces, and holding areas of strategic value around the globe, but rather on less tangible factors such as the people's standard of living and the overall economic health of the nation. "To this video, you replied "I don't get it." Because according to your profile, you're 13, and before I am flamed, I would like to point out that I'm not insutling your intelligence due to your age. I am saying you were basically born with the internet... so tech savvy or not, you havn't seen the older generations of the internet, as it were.
To clarify, it's sort of like asking a 13 year old like yourself (or a 19, nearly 20 year old like myself) to fully appreciate the difference between a vynil and cassette tape (I don't think you are too young for those.) Even if we happen consider Turntablism a modern phenomenon.
But anyhow, my metaphore is probably a bit off, but, having been online since the days of AoL 3, Compuserve, and the like, when people still had to dial in, before broadband, when the fastest internet you could buy, was still slower than the slowest dial up today. Before the internet had Video, when the only movement you could see online was scrolling text or ugly glitter-GIFs on a disheveled, poorly formatted, poorly coded Angelfire page. Before you could Download an MP3 (before they existed), and all the music on the internet was annoying digitized .MIDI files. Back before Blogging, when if you actually knew how to write HTML well enough to have a web journal, your opnion could actually be considered valid. Back when a person's desktop walpaper from today, can use more memory than most website used (or than most computers even had), all but 5 or 6 yeas ago. Hell, even back before Forums existed as we know and troll them today, back in the day of the bulletin boards and single-post newsgroups...
Before YouTube, Blogger, BitTorrent, and MySpace. Before community efforts like Wikipedia, deviantArt and SecondLife served both as cultural hubs, and social whipping-posts. Before e-commerce, before eBAY and Amazon, when you actually had to SHOP online to get what you were looking for. Back when electronics didn't mean iTronics. Before the MMO, the FPS, before PlayOnline and Windows went LIVE. Back before RSS, when you actually had to know where to look to find the information you were looking for; Back when Google wasn't a demigod, and when Yahooligans still existed. Back when the internet was a big deal.
Back when Instant Feedback, in a brave new world of Instant Gratification, by means of Instant Messaging; back when Instantanious meant it was slower than it is today.
I have to say, in my opinion, it's a very exciting time.
I get it."
Good day, Soylent Hero. (Less)

As vocalist/guitarist Neil Fallon notes, "We've been really conscious of the blues over the last couple of years, and you have to admit that the blues really is the source of all rock and roll. I think it's important to go to the source to find that inspiration."[1] Clutch's lyrics, at first angry and serious in tone, had by the time of 1993's Transnational Speedway League become characterized by intelligence, wordplay, and often humor (although comedy is not usually the focus). Their songs make frequent reference to history, mythology, popular culture, and religion—for example, "I Have the Body of John Wilkes Booth", from their self-titled album, tells the story of a fisherman who discovers the corpse of Lincoln's assassin in the Susquehanna River, and Jam Room's "Release the Kraken" inserts a hero called "Useless the Younger" into the movie Clash of the Titans. At other times the lyrics contain some very surreal imagery, as in this quote from Robot Hive/Exodus's "Burning Beard": "Every time I look out my window/ same three dogs looking back at me. Every time I open my windows/ cranes fly in to terrorize me." Formed in 1991, Clutch built a local following through constant gigging, and after just one 7" single (the classic Earache release "Passive Restraints") Clutch was signed by EastWest Records. Their debut LP, Transnational Speedway League, followed in 1993. A self-titled album appeared two years later and afforded Clutch some mainstream exposure. They jumped to the larger Columbia label for 1998's Elephant Riders, and many thought the group might join their sonic cousins Korn and Deftones in the alternative metal winner's circle. That didn't quite happen. But it didn't matter, because a quality fan base continued to thrive for Clutch. Pure Rock Fury appeared in 2001. The title track was initially released as the first single from the band's Atlantic debut. However, the Program Director for North Carolina Rock station, WXQR (Rock 105), Brian Rickman, suggested that the label switch singles to another track from the album: "Careful With That Mic". Atlantic did so and Clutch was afforded a surprise hit single. The follow-up tracks, "Immortal" and "Open Up The Border" were also well received by American Rock stations. The similarly uncompromising Blast Tyrant came three years later as their first for DRT Records. Again, the band enjoyed more Rock radio airplay thanks to the single "The Mob Goes Wild" (with a video directed by Bam Margera). Their seventh full-length, Robot Hive/Exodus, followed in 2005 and featured the first lineup change since the early '90s, the addition of organist Mick Schauer. Among Clutch's numerous side releases were a groove-based album (2000's Jam Room), as well as Live at the Googolplex and the rarities record Slow Hole to China, both issued in 2003. Also issued in 2005, Pitchfork & Lost Needles combined Clutch's 1991 Pitchfork 7" with unreleased demos and early tracks. In the fall of 2006, the band hit the studio with producer Joe Barresi (Kyuss, Melvins, Tool) to record their next album; the resulting From Beale Street to Oblivion appeared in March 2007. While the band has not recovered their previous radio airplay with subsequent releases, Clutch have accumulated a devoted cult following. This following has been cultivated by an ambitious touring schedule; the band has often performed more than 100 shows per year. In fact, a 30-plus-date U.S. tour has been scheduled for early 2007, with a European tour following that. As of January 24, 2007, the track "Electric Worry" can be streamed online. The album was leaked onto the internet in early March. Critical reaction to the album has been overwhelmingly positive: the influential magazine Metal Hammer called it a future classic, the best album the group has ever produced, and easily a front runner for album of the year. SYSTEM OF A DOWN @ Bojangles - Sacramento, CA 1999...also on the bill were HED PE http://capitalchaos.net System of a Down (also referred to as System or abbreviated as SOAD) is a four-piece, Grammy-award winning band, formed in 1995 in Los Angeles, California. All four members are of Armenian descent, grandsons of Armenian Genocide survivors, and are widely known for their outspoken views found in many of their songs. System of a Down has achieved commercial success over five albums, with singles such as "Chop Suey!" and "B.Y.O.B.". System of a Down is a part of the Axis of Justice, a non-profit organization formed by band member Serj Tankian (along with Tom Morello) that is dedicated to bringing together musicians, music fans, and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice. http://systemofadown.com History [edit] Soil (1991-1995) The roots of System of a Down lie in the band Soil, a group from Los Angeles that included Serj Tankian on vocals and Daron Malakian on guitar, as well as Dave Hakopyan (Bassist for Apex Theory) on bass and Domingo Laranio (Local Hawaii Drummer) on drums. Shavo Odadjian joined Soil near their end as a guitarist. After three years, only one live show, and one jam session recording, the band split up. [edit] In the beginning (1995 - 1997) After Soil split up, Tankian and Malakian then formed a new band, System of a Down, based on a poem that Daron wrote. The poem's title was "Victims of a Down", but Serj Tankian thought that Victim would only appeal to a narrow audience and the word System would appeal to a larger, more general audience. They called on Shavo Odadjian, with whom they knew from when Soil shared a recording studio with Odadjian's previous band as well as when Odadjian was briefly their guitar player. Odadjian was originally the band's manager and promoter, though he quickly accepted the offer to permanently join the band as bassist. Since then, managerial duties have been undertaken by the highly successful Velvet Hammer Music and Management Group and streetwise founder David "Beno" Benveniste. One of SOAD's first releases was "Sugar", which was recorded on their first demo tape, and they have played the song at nearly every live performance since then. The band then found a drummer, Ontronik Khachaturian. SOAD quickly made an early Untitled 1995 Demo Tape, which had very early recordings of "Mr. Jack" (called "PIG"), along with songs called "Flake," "Toast" and an early recording of "The Metro," a cover of the Berlin song of the same name. There were also other tapes made, which contained early recordings of "36" (called ".36"), "Roulette" and "X" (called "Multiply")[8]. After this, the band recorded Demo Tape 1, which had early versions of "Sugar," "Suite-Pee," and "P.L.U.C.K.," as well as the rare track "Dam." Demo Tape 2 was released in 1996 and had a rough demo of the song "Soil" as well as the most known unreleased tracks such as "Honey" and "Temper." At the beginning of 1997, SOAD recorded their final publically-released demo tape, Demo Tape 3, which had rough versions of "Peephole," "War?," and "Know." Prior to 1998, SOAD's live shows were called "The Dark Red Experience." [9] In mid 1997, Ontronik Khachaturian left the band due to a hand injury. Soon after playing at the Whisky-A-Go-Go and Viper Room with new drummer John Dolmayan, producer Rick Rubin caught the band's attention and told them to keep in touch with him. Showing great interest, they recorded Demo Tape 4 near the end of that year. This demo, however, was made only to be sent to record companies. The tape was not released to the public until several years later when it was leaked onto the Internet. After Rick helped them get signed onto American/Columbia Records, SOAD began to record in his studio. In 1997 SOAD won the Best Signed Band award from the Rock City Awards. Debut album (1998 - 2000) In the summer of 1998, System of a Down released their debut album, System of a Down. They enjoyed moderate success with their first single "Sugar" becoming a radio favorite, followed by the singles "Spiders" and "War?". After the release of the album, System of a Down toured extensively, opening for Slayer before making their way to the second stage of Ozzfest. Following Ozzfest, they toured with Fear Factory and Incubus before headlining the Sno-Core tour with Puya, Mr. Bungle, The Cat and Incubus providing support. System was scheduled to play the 1999 Family Values Tour, but were kicked off by Fred Durst over his inability to sign the band Taproot. Fred Durst has since admitted that he was a "complete wanker" in relation to this "oversight"[citation needed]. The band have yet to comment on Durst's involvement or commentary. In 2000, the group contributed their cover of the Black Sabbath song "Snowblind" to the Sabbath tribute album Nativity in Black 2. [edit] Mainstream success: Toxicity/Steal This Album! (2001 - 2003) The group's big break arrived when their second album Toxicity debuted at #1 on the American and Canadian charts, eventually achieving multi-platinum certification. The album has since sold 6 million copies worldwide. It was still on top in America on the week of the September 11, 2001 attacks and the political environment caused by the attacks added to the controversy surrounding their hit single "Chop Suey!" causing it to be taken off the radio as it contained politically sensitive lyrics at the time such as "(I don't think you) trust in my self-righteous suicide." Regardless, the video gained constant play on MTV as did the second single, "Toxicity". Even with the controversy surrounding "Chop Suey!" which earned a Grammy nomination, System of a Down still received constant airplay in the United States throughout late 2001 and 2002 with "Toxicity " and "Aerials". In May of 2006, VH1 listed Toxicity in the #14 slot in the 40 Greatest Metal Songs. In 2001, the band went on tour with Slipknot. In late 2001, a few unreleased tracks made their way onto the Internet. The group released a statement that the tracks were unfinished material. Soon after, the band released the final versions of the songs, which were recorded at the same time, but hadn't been used for Toxicity. The result was Steal This Album!, released in November 2002. Steal This Album! resembled a burnable CD that was marked with a felt-tip marker. 50,000 special copies of the album with different CD designs were also released, each designed by a different member of the band. The name of the album is a reference to Abbie Hoffman's counter-culture book, Steal This Book and as a message to those who stole the songs and released them on the Internet. Dolmayan said in an interview "I don't care if fans download our songs from the internet but I don't like it when fans get our songs before the release date"[citation needed]. The singles "Innervision" and "I-E-A-I-A-I-O" were released as radio-only promos and received constant airplay on alternative radio. A video for "Boom!" was filmed with director Michael Moore as a protest against the War in Iraq. [edit] Mezmerize/Hypnotize (2004 - 2005) From 2004 to 2005, the group produced a double album, Mezmerize/Hypnotize with the two parts released six months apart. The first album, Mezmerize, was released on May 17 2005, to favorable reviews by critics. It debuted at #1 in the United States, Canada, Australia and all around the world, making it System of a Down's second #1 album. First week sales rocketed to over 800,000 copies worldwide[citation needed]. The Grammy Award-winning single "B.Y.O.B.", which questions the integrity of war, worked its way up the Billboard Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts. The next single, "Question!" was released with Shavo Odadjian co-directing the music video. Following the release of Mezmerize, the band toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada with The Mars Volta and Bad Acid Trip supporting. The second part of the double album, Hypnotize, was released on November 22 2005. Like Mezmerize, it debuted at #1 in the US, making System of a Down, along with the Beatles, and rappers 2Pac and DMX, the only artists to ever have two studio albums debut at #1 in the same year. Their second single off the Hypnotize album, "Lonely Day" was released in March in the United States. System of a Down released "Kill Rock 'N Roll" as their third. airplay only, single. In February of 2006, System of a Down won the Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance for "B.Y.O.B.", beating out other established artists such as Nine Inch Nails and Robert Plant. The band headlined Ozzfest 2006 in cities where tour founder Ozzy Osbourne opted not to appear or wasn't playing on the main stage. In May of 2006, the band announced they were going on hiatus. Daron Malakian has confirmed the break will probably last a few years, but insists that the band would not be splitting up. He told MTV, "We're not breaking up. If that was the case, we wouldn't be doing this Ozzfest. We're going to take a very long break after Ozzfest and do our own things. We've done System for over ten years, and I think it's healthy to take a rest." On July 8 at the Ozzfest, Malakian improvised the lyrics to "Lonely Day", saying "Such a lonely day, with the band/these motherfuckers I can't stand!".[11] However, later in an interview with Kerrang!, Malakian stated that he said "this" (referring to the day) rather than "these" (referring to the band). During their Ozzfest performance on July 29th in New York City, Serj altered some of the lines on "Toxicity" by singing "The Toxicity of our city, it's so shitty" (instead of "of our city" repeated) and "Disorder, disorder, we're all on a border" (instead of a third "disorder"). Also while performing in New York City Serj altered lines to Sugar saying, "I sit in my desolate room, no lights, no music, just ice cream" (instead of "just anger"). During their performance in Houston, Malakian also took a moment to say, "There's been a lot of rumors about us breaking up. Well don't fuckin' listen to them. Us four right here, we will always be System of a Down!"[citation needed] During the hiatus, Malakian, Dolmayan and Odadjian will be in a band called Scars on Broadway, and will work on its debut album in the fall. Odadjian will also be participating in the project. He will also be working on a project with RZA of Wu-Tang Clan. Tankian plans to keep recording as a solo artist/producer in "Serjical Strike", while Dolmayan, on top of Scars on Broadway, plans to open a comic book store online, which should be up online in November 2007.[12] System of a Down's final performance before their hiatus took place on August 13, 2006 in West Palm Beach, Florida. "Tonight will be the last show we play for a long time together," Malakian told the crowd during Sunday's last performance. "We'll be back. We just don't know when."[13] It was stated by Sharon Osbourne that System of a Down were paid "about $325,000 a show."[14] System of a Down's latest info is that their songs will be used in the new 2006 film "Screamers". They will also appear in the movie, in an interview talking about the importance of helping create awareness and recognition of the Armenian Genocide. "Screamers" will be hitting theaters in large city markets such as New York City, Detroit, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Fresno, Providence, and Boston. An earlier engagement will start exclusively in Los Angeles on Friday, December 8, 2006." System of a Down was honored at the USC v. Cal game at the Los Angeles Coliseum in Los Angeles, CA. The Spirit of Troy also known as the Trojan Marching Band performed three System of a Down songs. John Dolmayan and Shavo Odadjian were kind enough to play "Toxicity" along with the marching band. Tankian recently said that he has wanted to work on his "solo record for years". As for the future of the band, he said that he does not know whether System of a Down is over or not. He also stated that "maybe in a few years" the band would "want to make another album. It's impossible to tell right now. It'll be later down the line; then we'll be able to tell what might happen."[15] Bassist Shavo Odadjian was recently revealed to be directing the first video for the comeback of the hardcore punk band, Bad Brains. [16] For the 2007 Grammys, System of a Down was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance for "Lonely Day", but lost to Wolfmother and their song "Woman". [edit] Music style and influences System of a Down's main influence is mostly from early alternative rock bands, as well as from heavy metal, punk rock, jazz fusion, Armenian folk music (Harout, Paul, Armik), classic rock, blues, industrial genres, and Middle Eastern music. The band has used a wide range of instruments, including electric mandolins, sitars, 12-string guitars and Middle Eastern ouds. They used drop C tuning exclusively in their first three albums. The latter two System albums used Drop Db tuning, except in the songs Question!, Dreaming and Attack, in which they reverted to drop C tuning. Daron has stated on several accounts that his songwriting is inspired heavily by The Beatles. Shavo's and Daron's first influences were Kiss. Shavo has also stated in a video interview at Big Day Out that he would not like to do any collaborations, because they don't want to use other people to make themselves famous. Then he quickly changed his answer and said "Mike Patton" and that they would love to do anything with him. [edit] Genre dispute There is some contention over the band's genre. They have been labeled as nu metal, which may be attributed[attribution needed] to their first album being released during the nu metal boom of the mid-to-late 90s, though they had been making music and touring before most nu metal. Columbia Records, which distributes producer Rick Rubin's American Recordings, had a part in casting the band as nu metal.[17] Brad Tolinski of Guitar World said, "These guys were grouped in with bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit, and they were able to sneak in under the wire because of those affiliations, even though they didn't sound like them... And when nu-metal got cleared away, System of a Down was still standing... They were clearly able to create their own identity and unique sound."[17] Guitarist Daron Malakian has said in a Guitar World interview that he is glad System of a Down has not slipped into the nu metal genre. During a 2005 concert, he announced, "They used to call us nü-metal, now they call us prog rock. Whatever's popular at the moment, I think that's what they'll call us."[18] In a 2005 interview with the Houston Press, Malakian said, "Lately, we've been doing interviews, and people have been like, 'You guys are really leading the way for the new prog movement,' and I'm like, 'What?' ...It's just kind of aggravating that people always have to have something to compare us to, or bunch us up with. I'm not saying we're the most original band in the world, but I don't really feel that we fall into a heavy-metal category or a pure rock category. There's a lot of stuff mixed up into one."[citation needed] Against comparisons to Rage Against the Machine, Tankian said, "Yeah, we have some political songs, but we have more that are about love and life and sex and pogo-stick orgies and all that."[17] Malakian said, "We don't belong to any one scene."System has also been described as a mixture of aggro punk, classic metal, Frank Zappa, goth, and Armenian music. We are committed to personally reading each and everyone's story in this section because we really want to get to know who you are before we can determine whether or not you would be a good fit for our MLM Gold Mine Leadership Training & Development System. So tell me (and the rest of our MLM Gold Mine Mastermind team)... tell us more about yourself on this application. You want to include as much as you see fit that would allow us to get to know who you are, what your situation is, and anything else that can help us determine whether or not we have a match between what we are looking for... and what you have to offer. There are 3 main questions I would like you to answer... #1) Who are you... and what is it that you really want to accomplish in life? #2) What exactly *ATTRACTED* you about MLM Gold Mine? Why are you here? #3) What are your *STRENGTHS*... and what can you bring to the table that could benefit or contribute to all of us here at the MLM Gold Mine family? (For question #3, just think of any special talents, gifts, or things that you are really good at... or what are some of the things that are super easy for you... that might be hard for others?) By answering this 3rd question in detail... this will allow all of us to see what your strengths are... and that way if anyone one our Mastermind team has a 'weakness' in that area... perhaps we could connect you 2 together and 'barter' or exchange services so you can help each other out and we all can move our businesses forward. This 3rd question is great for networking or teaming-up with other people. For instance, let's say you may have a weakness like building websites... but if someone else on our team is really good at building websites and could do it on the fly with their eyes closed and both hands tied behind their backs... then this could potentially lead to many business partnership with other members who are not-so-good at building their own website. We could connect the 2 of you... and you guys can talk further about the possibility of exchanging services to help each other out. (This is just an example... but I think you get the point.) Now what you are going to find below is the actual questions I would like you to answer... then you're going to find several lines underneath the question to give you space to answer the question. If you need more lines, feel free to take out an extra blank sheet of paper and continue your answer to the question. After the lines underneath the question... you're going to see a sample of how I would answer that question myself. To give you some ideas, or leave you with a better sense of direction on how I would personally answer those questions. Remember... if you need more space, simply attach an additional sheet to this application and continue to write as much as necessary. Remember, we are committed to reading each and every application we receive... so be as specific and as detailed as possible... Because you may not realize this yet... but your answers to the questions on this application will actually help save you time when you get to the 6th Step of our proprietary MLM Gold Mine proven online success formula. Not only will this help your creative juices start flowing for creating your own compelling story for marketing purposes... but you could also use some of the ideas you write down here and use it for crafting your own MySpace profile using our *exclusive* 6-Step Formula for creating a powerful compelling story that actually brings you free red-hot leads chasing you... instead of you chasing them! So if you're ready to get started... here you go: #1) Who are you... and what is it that you really want to accomplish in life? (Don't forget to include what you want to accomplish with your business over the next up-coming 12-months.) HERE'S HOW I WOULD ANSWER THIS QUESTION #1... For me, my name is Dennis Karganilla. I'm about to turn 29-years-old on April 8th... and I have a *PASSION* for coaching and training others (especially when it comes to anyone who is 'entrepreneurial' and is looking to build a successful business online.) You see... last year, I realized how lucky and truly blessed I am to be able to really *EXPERIENCE* what it means to "Live A Life You Actually Love!" I got to travel all over the world from the beer halls of Munich, Germany... To taking yodeling lessons at the tops of the Swiss Alps... to riding on a gondola ride through the canals of Venice... partying it up in the streets of Barcelona, Spain... diving off the cliffs in the north shores of Hawaii... to rafting through the waters of the beautiful Philippine Islands. I could go on and on, but I think you get the point... life was just *GOOD*. But, after a while... I kind of got tired and *BORED* of just hangin' around in all of these different exotic vacation spots around the world... I wanted more *EXCITEMENT*... I want to do something *WORTHWHILE* and something that would actually *MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE* in the world... and so that's why in 2007... I made the commitment to give back. I committed to returning the favor to other people who have not yet had the good fortune of experiencing what it really means to live a life that you actually love. And that's why I started MLM Gold Mine. I made the commitment to create a *SAFE* place for entrepreneurs to hang-out, learn, network, and share their experiences with others so that we all could go out and create successful businesses online together. Because what a lot of super-successful people tend to find out more often than not is... it sometimes can get a little *LONELY* at the top. But the good news is... it doesn't have to be that way (That's why even if we're all in various different businesses... we can team-up *TOGETHER* and create success and wealth as a *TEAM* committed to *PROSPERITY* for all.) I truly want to provide whatever it is I can that will lead you to experience the same intensive rush of joy and peace in your life... the kind of joy, peace, and happiness that I am so lucky and blessed to have in my life right now. So my mission now has taken a complete turn. And my vision now is to touch, move, and inspire 1 *MILLION* entrepreneurs... and to *EMPOWER*, *TRAIN*, and *DEVELOP* 1 *MILLION* new leaders... from ordinary average Joe's just like me... and giving them a way to build confidence in themselves... and providing an access way to becoming the *LEADER* that they didn't even know existed inside of them. It's all about peace, love, joy, and happiness. It's all about making a positive difference in the world. (And there's nothing wrong with making a *TON* of money in the process as well! *wink*) The last other *HUGE* difference that makes my MLM Gold Mine system distinct from anything else out there in the whole entire internet is... my system is the 1st and *ONLY* system that actually "BRIDGES" the "Generational Gap". I'm the 1st people a lot of the younger and newer entrepreneurs who are in their 20's and 30's... I've created the first system ever that can actually relate to them. No other system out there can bridge the generational gap like my MLM Gold Mine system. I'm the 1st and the only one existent today. Finally, the 20's and 30's can drop out of the 'Old-School'... and join the 'New School'. Finally, someone was able to take the fundamental proven time-tested business principles that have worked for ages... and has now presented it in a medium and language that the 'New School Generation' can actually relate to and understand. And that's what sets my MLM Gold Mine system apart from anything else out there on the internet. Okay, so enough about me... now it's your turn. What is it that you really want to accomplish in life? What's your purpose? What's your vision? And why are you here? #2) What exactly *ATTRACTED* you about MLM Gold Mine? Why are you here? What do you want to get out of your involvement with our Leadership Training & Development System? HERE'S HOW I WOULD ANSWER THIS QUESTION #2... For me, MLM Gold Mine came about almost by complete accident. One of my personal goals was to 'connect' with other like-minded people who were my age. People who I could easily relate to. People who had similar interests as me. I call these people the 'NEO-Entrepreneurs'. Neo = New. And I borrowed the name 'NEO' from the main character of the movie 'The Matrix'. Because I grew up watching that stuff. I grew up playing Nintendo. I grew up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The internet was a part of my life while growing up. The 'Neo-Entrepreneurs' grew up using AIM (AOL instant messenger). We grew up and adapted the latest technologies (including cell phones, text messages, MySpace, and YouTube)... and all of these new technologies were simply just an everyday part of our lives. (If you grew up with this technology, know what "Saved By The Bell" is, and you've seen the movie "Napoleon Dynamite"... then you are a *TRUE* "Neo Entrepreneur".) I wanted to reach that market and really *EMPOWER* them and *INSPIRE* them with a message that showed them that you really can "Live The Life of Your Dreams" by following your *PASSIONS*. A lot of people give up on that... and it's just sad for me to see such wonderful, gifted, and talented people give up on their dreams and passions just to work in a job you hate... and working under B.O.S.S. that you can barely stand... (when spell B.O.S.S. backwards, it actually means he/she is a "Double S.O.B."! okay, just playin' around... gotta have some fun right?) So that's one of the main reasons why I originally started MLM Gold Mine... is because I wanted to reach out to the 'Neo-Entrepreneurs. But soon after I started to launch this stuff with MySpace and all the videos on YouTube... I soon found out that a whole lot of other people wanted to learn this same stuff too. A lot of older 'cats' wanted 'IN' on this info too... because even though they didn't fit into the age bracket I was looking to reach... many of them told me they still feel like the are only "30-years-old in heart". And so even if you're age is a bit older... but you feel like you're in your 20's or 30's at heart... and you're just totally *FASCINATED* by all of these new cutting-edge breakthrough Web 2.0 technology stuff... then you too also qualify to fit in the category of what I call being a 'NEO-ENTREPRENEUR'. So it evolved... and evolved... and evolved some more... and now MLM Gold Mine is where it is today. It's become a *COMMUNITY* of like-minded entrepreneurs. It's become a *FAMILY* of bright, ambitious, passionate people who are all focused on a single goal of building a successful business online... becoming leaders, making a positive difference in the world... and making a *BOAT-LOAD* of money too in the process!! That's why I started the MLM Gold Mine Leadership Training & Development System. And that's why it's now taken an entirely whole new life of it's own. So tell me more about what it was that *ATTRACTED* you to my MLM Gold Mine System... and what exactly is it that you are looking to get out of this. Please be as specific as possible. Tell me why you are here. Because based on what you answer with this question... that will give me a better sense of what me and my time would have to bring to the table to assist you in making this happen. So don't take this one lightly. Really get down in writing what it is you want to accomplish right here. #3) What are your *STRENGTHS*... and what can you bring to the table that could benefit or contribute to all of us here at the MLM Gold Mine family? (Why do you feel you're a good candidate for the MLM Gold Mine Leadership Training & Development System? And why should we choose you over other applicants?) HERE'S HOW I WOULD ANSWER THIS QUESTION #3... For me, my strengths are the 'know-how'. Because like I've told you before... I go to a lot of internet marketing seminars. And some of my buddies are the top marketers in the world when it comes to making money online. So I usually get access to the 'inside-scoop' before anyone else. And that's something I can pass-on to you guys who are part of our MLM Gold Mine family. Another one of my strengths is coaching and mentoring. I'm very good at working with people and pointing out things that they might not have seen in themselves. Just like Phil Jackson used to coach Michael Jordan in basketball... even sometimes the best-of-thebest players in any industry still get caught up in their own world and may overlook such obvious things which could make a positive impact on their results. And that's why Michael Jordan (perhaps one of the greatest basketball players of all time)... even he still had a coach to point out at times things the Jordan could not see for himself. Let me be your coach. Let me be your mentor. Let me point out things to you that you may not be able to see on your own. Let me be there for you not only as support to assist you with your business... but also support to assist you in your life as well. Those are my 2 main strengths... and that's what I bring to the table. So tell me what your strengths are? Are you good at making websites? Are you good at talking to people? Are you just a good student? Do you have experience mentoring, coaching, and training other people? Maybe your area of strength is that you're a fast learner. Or perhaps whenever someone tells you to do something you always are able to get things done with speed and velocity. Just tell me more about what you consider to be your strengths and what you can bring to the table. That way if we have someone who has a super-hard time with HTML for websites... but you know how to do HTML like the back of your hand... perhaps we can pair you guys up so you can work together and exchange services. Remember... it's all about family here... wherever one person is weak in the family... I'm sure we could find someone else on the team who has that strength. And that way, we could put you 2 in contact so you two can possibly talk further about bartering services, or helping each other out for a fee, or however you wish to work it out. So you see... This is just an example of how I would introduce myself, and what I would say when I answer the 3 questions above. I encourage you to do the same thing as well. And remember... the 3rd question is *HUGE* because this will allow the rest of the family to see what you are good at... and then if you get accepted as a 'Member' of our system... then we can better 'team-you-up' with a *RUNNING BUDDY* based on your strengths and weaknesses... and that way you can help each other out, bounce ideas back and forth... and work with each other to help one another move your businesses forward.I understand that one of the biggest benefits I'm going to get from your MLM Gold Mine Leadership Training & Development System is something called "OHANA". Where 'Ohana' means family... and that means "Nobody Gets Left Behind!"my space marketing music video marketing mlm scams quickstar mlm mlm leads recipes gold mine mortgage mlm mlm scam usana mlm mlm Experimentation (1997-2001) After Chris Kontos left to work with Testament, the drumming services of Dave McClain formerly of Sacred Reich were acquired. They then released the follow up album, The More Things Change, once again produced and mixed by Colin Richardson, in 1997, after which guitarist Logan Mader unexpectedly left in the spring of 1998. He was then replaced by Ahrue Luster (Now of Ill Niño) who worked with the band on the third album The Burning Red (1999). This album was a sign of a change for Machine Head, the band deciding to experiment more rather than release another album that would be seen as just a shadow in the footsteps of Burn My Eyes. Robb uses his rapping techniques in this album in addition to the growl he used on earlier releases. The song "Devil With The Kings Card" is based on Logan Mader's leaving of the band. The album did, however, receive some backlash from fans who weren't pleased with their change in style - some even accused the band of "selling out" and following musical trends (nu-metal and rap metal were becoming increasingly popular in 1999). Machine Head released Supercharger in 2001, though the album failed to do well. The video for the song "Crashing Around You" was banned by MTV due to its images of collapsing buildings around the times of WTC strike. The album received more of the same criticism that met The Burning Red. By 2002, Machine Head had sold over 1.3 million albums worldwide, and overall "Supercharger" (mixed by Colin Richardson) would go on to sell an impressive 250,000 copies worldwide, but it would be their lowest selling album to date. Once the tour for the album had been completed, Machine Head and Roadrunner Records mutually decided to sever ties with regards to distribution in North America and around the world, however to fill the ties, the band released "Hellalive" (also mixed by Colin Richardson) which was a recording of a Brixton Academy, London set. [edit] Decline (2002-2003) In 2002 Ahrue Luster left the band and was temporarily replaced by Phil Demmel, who played in thrash band Vio-lence alongside Flynn. Demmel played some festival shows with Machine Head (including a headlining slot at the With Full Force festival in Germany). Then with Phil not being able to commit to the band, he and Machine Head parted ways. The remainder of the band started writing songs for the next album (eventually Through the ashes..), and hoping to get signed to a record label. They recorded a short demo, including a radio-style song called "Pins and Needles" (a song later released with alternate lyrics on the Roadrunner United album under the title "Army of the Sun"), and a Electronic Press Kit for the companies, also hoping they can get signed on the strength of their previous efforts. Nearly every record label in the music industry rejected the four track demo. [edit] Revival (2003-present) However in March 2003, the band's spirits would rise when Phil decided to rejoin the group full time, and Roadrunner International (Europe and the rest of the world) came to the band with an offer. Then the band signed the international deal, and started recording "Through the Ashes". The band then decided to go back to Roadrunner USA hoping on being signed (which they eventually did), and "Through The Ashes of Empires" (Colin Richardson mixing once again) was finally released in Europe and around the world (except North America) on October 28 2003. The album overseas would be praised in most musical publications (a notable absentee from the 'good review list' was Britain's influential Kerrang! magazine though, it should be noted Kerrang is a mainstream rock publication), and then it created a buzz in America. Roadrunner USA came back to Machine Head and made them an offer, and they signed with the label, and to make up for making the American fans wait so long for the new album, they recorded a track called "Seasons Wither" which had not appeared on the European release. Through the Ashes of Empires returned to a style closer to that of Burn My Eyes, and received significant publicity due to the success of the song "Imperium" and what was seen by fans as a massive return to form - both musically and lyrically. As part of this revival, Machine Head headlined the "True Metal" stage at 2005's Wacken Open Air festival in front of 40,000 fans - their biggest show to date (they made an appearance at the Dynamo Open Air festival in their early years but didn't headline). Through the Ashes of Empires debuted on the Billboard Charts in US at #88 -- an excellent showing for a band that was considered at one point dead-in-the-water. On October 11, 2005, Machine Head released their first ever DVD: Elegies. The DVD contained concert footage from the Brixton Academy show in December of 2004, and various extras, including their most recent music videos (of 2004) and a documentary on the Making of "Through The Ashes". In the DVD's first week of release, "Elegies" reached the #13 spot in US and the #6 spot in UK music-related DVD sales. As well on October 11, 2005, Roadrunner Records released an album to commemorate the 25 years of the label's storied history. Four of the songs on the album, Roadrunner United: The All-Star Sessions, were written by Robert Flynn of Machine Head. Both Phil Demmel and Dave McClain of Machine Head contributed to the album musically, and Logan Mader came on board as a producer, also providing the melodic harmonics on the track "The End". Roadrunner United was a project conceived by the label to showcase the talent of the dozens of bands signed to Roadrunner Records. There were 4 "Captains" assigned to write songs for the album: Robb Flynn of Machine Head, Dino Cazares ex-Fear Factory, Matt Heafy of Trivium, and Joey Jordison of Slipknot. Each "Captain" had to choose which artists were to participate in the recording of their songs, and they were to be primary producers. The album saw an all-star cast of artists from such bands as: The Misfits, Killswitch Engage, 36 Crazyfists, Sepultura, Soulfly, Slipknot, Cradle of Filth, Type O Negative, Fear Factory, Front Line Assembly, Coal Chamber, Ill Niño, Vision of Disorder, Trivium, Opeth, Stone Sour, King Diamond and Deicide, among others. March 26th (Europe/Rest of the World) and 28th (USA), 2007 saw the release of the band's sixth studio album "The Blackening"[1], which was produced by Robert Flynn and mixed by Colin Richardson. They have also contributed a studio recorded and produced cover of Metallica's "Battery" for Kerrang! Magazine's 'Remastered', a tribute to Metallica's seminal album Master of Puppets, which is included on the album as bonus content. On October 31 2006, Roadrunner Records announced that as part of their 25th Anniversary, they will be re-releasing Burn My Eyes with a bonus CD, which includes previously unreleased tracks and rarities. It was said to be due out on January the 8th, 2007 but has been pushed back to September 2007 so it does not interfere with the release of 'The Blackening'. However now these plans have since been scrapped by the band and Roadrunner. [edit] Recent Activites Machine Head started off 2007 by opening for Lamb Of God on their US tour in support of their album, Sacrament. Also on this tour was Trivium and Gojira. In April 2007, they were on tour opening for Megadeth and Heaven and Hell in the US. They then began thier European festival dates during May, June and July in Luxembourg, supported by Caliban. During this time they played the Download Festival on Donington racecourse. Their performance at the festival was praised by Kerrang as one of the best performances of the entire 3 day event. Shortly after their appearance at Download, they announced a headlining Japanese/European/Australian arena tour (called The Black Crusade) during October, November and December 2007. They will be supported by Trivium, Dragonforce (Europe only), Arch Enemy and Shadows Fall. There have been a few debates on what particular subgenre of heavy metal Machine Head can be classified as. Some call them a thrash metal, groove metal and even neo-thrash metal band, thanks to their thrash influences, their roots in the Bay Area thrash scene (most notably Flynn and Demmel's time in Vio-lence), their occasionally fast riffing style and shouted vocals. Robb Flynn has stated that Machine Head were never a thrash band and that they are more influenced by bands like Biohazard and hardcore bands rather than thrash - he once claimed, in fact, that their original intent was to be the West Coast's answer to Biohazard[2]. " We play music that straddles the line between prog and traditional rock. I think we make prog-rock more listenable without cheapening the progressiveness of it. The complexity of our music appeals to people who like technical playing, but the arrangements are not so extreme that they fly over the average listener's head. It's a good balance. " —Dave McClain, Machine Head Diary[3] Some consider early Machine Head to be groove metal and may be one of the original bands in that sub-genre. Others have called them nu metal, mostly due to their style at the time of their The Burning Red and Supercharger albums but say they went back to a sound comparable to their early years on Through the Ashes of Empires. Others use the term post-thrash to describe the band's style, grouping them with other early 90s bands such as Pantera or Sepultura who have an approach based in thrash metal but with more mid-tempo riffing and a stronger groove. [edit] Trivia Although Burn My Eyes was more influential as an album to the metal scene in general, according to a Blabbermouth.net Report, The Burning Red moved almost as many units in 3 years (1999-2002) as Burn My Eyes did in 8 years (1994-2002). In 2000, bands like Machine Head and Slipknot were involved in product placement for the HBO show The Sopranos. A.J. Soprano, played by Robert Iler, often wore Roadrunner Records apparel like Machine Head's Year of the Dragon T-Shirt. On Metallica's album Garage, Inc. Jason Newsted is shown in the booklet wearing a Machine Head sweater. During the 'Davidan' music video, Bassist Adam Duce is wearing a Slayer t-shirt with the classic 'Eagle logo'. Later to be (and now former) guitarist Ahrue Luster was in the crowd at the concert used in the 'Davidian' music video. Although they share their name with the Deep Purple album, Robb Flynn has stated that he did not name Machine Head after that album. In fact he claims he did not even know Deep Purple had an album called Machine Head.[citation needed] The Blackening album leaked onto the internet in late Jan 2007. 2 months before its release date. Slayer rose to fame as a leader of the American thrash metal movement with their 1986 release Reign in Blood, which has been called "the heaviest album of all time. The band is credited as one of the "Big Four" thrash metal bands, along with Megadeth, Metallica, and Anthrax.
Slayer is known for its musical traits, involving fast tremolo picking, guitar solos, double bass drumming, and shouting vocals. The band's lyrics and album art, which cover topics such as serial killers, Satanism, religion and warfare have generated album bans, delays, lawsuits and strong criticism from religious groups and the public.
Since their debut record in 1983, the band has released two live albums, one box set, two DVDs, two EPs, and ten albums, four of which have received gold certification. The band has received two Grammy nominations, winning one in 2007 for the song "Eyes of the Insane", and headlined music festivals worldwide, including Ozzfest, The Unholy Alliance and the Download Festival. http://slayer.net Early days (1981--1982)
Slayer formed in 1981, when guitarist Kerry King met Jeff Hanneman while auditioning for a band. The two recruited bassist and vocalist Tom Araya, who had played with King in a band called Quits, and drummer Dave Lombardo who met King while delivering pizzas. The band began playing cover versions of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest songs at clubs and parties in Southern California. Early shows relied on a Satanic image, which featured pentagrams, make-up, spikes, and inverted crosses A rumor has the band originally known as Dragonslayer, after the 1981 movie of the same name. However, when King was asked "How did you come up with the name Dragonslayer, King responded "We never did; it's a myth to this day."
The band was offered to open for Bitch at the Woodstock Club in Los Angeles, performing eight songs — six being covers. While performing the song "Phantom of the Opera" by Iron Maiden the band was spotted by Brian Slagel, a former music journalist who had recently founded Metal Blade Records. Impressed with Slayer's performance, Slagel met with the band backstage and asked them to record an original song, "Aggressive Perfector"(sample (help·info)) for his upcoming Metal Massacre III compilation. The band agreed and the song created underground buzz, which led to Slagel offering the band a recording contract with Metal Blade. http://myspace.com/slayer
Show No Mercy (1983--1984)
Without a recording budget, the band was forced to self-finance its debut album. Combining the savings of Araya, who was employed as a respiratory therapist,[9] and money borrowed from King's father,[2] the band entered the studio in November 1983. The album was rushed into release, hitting shelves three weeks after tracks were completed. Show No Mercy, released in December 1983 by Metal Blade Records, generated underground popularity for the band, and they began their first national club tour in 1984 to promote the album traveling in Araya's Camaro towing a U-Haul trailer.[2] The tour gave the band additional popularity; sales of Show No Mercy reached more than 20,000 in the US and another 20,000 worldwide.[8]

In August 1984, Slayer released a three song EP, entitled Haunting the Chapel. The EP featured a darker, more thrash-oriented style than its predecessor, and laid the groundwork for the future direction of the band.[10] The opening track, "Chemical Warfare," has become a live staple, played at nearly every show since 1984. After the release of Haunting the Chapel, Slayer made its live European debut at the Heavy Sounds Festival in Belgium opening for UFO,[11] returning to the US to begin the Haunting The West Coast tour.[12]
Following the tour, King temporarily left Slayer to join Dave Mustaine's new band Megadeth.[13] Hanneman was worried about King's decision, stating in an interview "I guess we're gonna get a new guitar player".[2] While Mustaine wanted King to stay on a permanent basis, King rejoined Slayer after five shows, stating Megadeth was "taking too much of my time".[2] The split caused a rift between King and Mustaine, which evolved into a long running feud between the two bands.[14] Following King's return, the band embarked on the 1984 Combat Tour, with Venom and Exodus, and released a live album titled Live Undead in November.
[edit] Hell Awaits (1985--1986)
Slayer released its first live home video in 1985, dubbed Combat Tour: The Ultimate Revenge. The video featured live footage filmed at New York's Studio 54 club, on the band's 1984 tour with Venom and Exodus. By early 1985, Show No Mercy had sold over 40,000 copies,[8] which lead to the band returning to the studio to record a second full length album. Metal Blade financed a recording budget, which allowed the band to hire producer Ron Fair.
Released in September 1985, Slayer's second full length release Hell Awaits expanded on the darkness of Haunting the Chapel, with hell and Satan as common song subjects. The album was the band's most progressive offering, featuring longer and more complex song structures.[2] The intro is a backwards recording of a demonic-sounding voice repeating "Join us," ending with "Welcome back" before the track begins.[15]
[edit] Reign in Blood (1986--1987)
Following the success of Hell Awaits, Slayer was offered a recording contract with Rick Rubin's newly founded Def Jam Records, a largely rap-based label.[2] The band accepted and with an experienced producer and major label recording budget, the band underwent a sonic makeover resulting in shorter, faster songs with clearer production. Gone were the complex arrangements and long songs featured on Hell Awaits, ditched in favor of stripped down, hardcore influenced song structures.[2]
The release of Reign in Blood was delayed due to the nature of its artwork and lyrical themes.

Def Jam's distributor, Columbia Records refused to release the album Reign in Blood, due to its graphic graphic cover art and lyrical themes.[2] "Angel of Death", detailed the Nazi concentration camps and human experiments conducted by Nazi physician Josef Mengele. The album was distributed by Geffen Records on October 7, 1986. However, due to the controversy Reign in Blood did not appear on Geffen Records release schedule.[2] Although the album received virtually no radio airplay, it became the band's first to enter the Billboard 200, debuting at #94,[16] and the band's first album certified gold in the United States.[17]
In October 1986, Slayer embarked on the Reign in Pain world tour, with Overkill in the US, and Malice in Europe. The band were added as the opening act on W.A.S.P.'s US tour, but just one month in, drummer Lombardo left the band: "I wasn't making any money. I figured if we were gonna be doing this professionally, on a major label, I wanted my rent and utilities paid."[2] To continue with the tour, Slayer enlisted Tony Scaglione of Whiplash. However, Lombardo's wife convinced Dave to return in 1987.[2] At the insistence of Rubin, Slayer recorded a cover version of Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" for the film Less Than Zero.[2] Although the band was not happy with the final product, Hanneman deeming it a poor representation of Slayer and King labeling it "a hunk of shit", it was the first songs to garner radio airplay.[2]
[edit] South of Heaven (1988--1989)
Slayer returned to the studio to record their fourth studio album. To contrast the speed of Reign in Blood, the band consciously decided to slow down the tempo incorporating melodic singing, rather than screaming. Hanneman asserted; "We knew we couldn't top Reign in Blood, so we had to slow down. We knew whatever we did was gonna be compared to that album, and I remember we actually discussed slowing down. It was weird—we've never done that on an album, before or since."[2]
1988's South of Heaven received mixed responses from both fans and critics, although it was Slayer's most commercially successful release at the time, debuting at #57 on the Billboard 200,[16] and the second album to receive gold certification in the United States.[17] Press response to the album was mixed, with All Music Guide citing the album as "disturbing and powerful",[18] and Rolling Stone calling it "genuinely offensive satanic drivel".[19] King says "that album was my most lackluster performance," although Araya called it a "late bloomer" which eventually grew on people.[2]
[edit] Seasons in the Abyss (1990--1993)
Slayer returned to the studio with co-producer Andy Wallace in 1989, to record their fifth studio album. Following the backlash created by South of Heaven, Slayer returned to the "pounding speed of Reign in Blood", while retaining their new found melodic sense.[20] Seasons in the Abyss, released in October 1990, was the first Slayer album to be released under Rubin's new Def American label, as he parted ways with Def Jam owner Russell Simmons over creative differences. The album debuted at #44 on the Billboard 200,[16] and was certified gold in 1992.[17] The title track, spawned Slayer's first music video, which was filmed in front of the Giza pyramids in Egypt prior to the Gulf War.
Slayer returned as a live act in September 1990 to co-headline the European Clash of the Titans tour with Megadeth, Suicidal Tendencies, and Testament. With the popularity of American thrash at its peak, the tour was extended to the US beginning in May 1991, with Megadeth, Anthrax and opening act Alice in Chains. The band released a double live album, Decade of Aggression in 1991, to celebrate ten years. The compilation debuted at #55 on the Billboard 200.[16]
In May 1992, Lombardo quit the band due to conflicts with other members, as well as arguments over his wish to bring his wife on tour.[21] Lombardo formed his own band Grip Inc, with Voodoocult guitarist Waldemar Sorychta,[22] and Slayer recruited former Forbidden drummer Paul Bostaph to fill his place. Slayer made its debut appearance with Bostaph at the 1992 Monsters of Rock festival at Castle Donington. Bostaph's first studio effort was a medley of three Exploited songs, "War", "UK '82", and "Disorder", with rapper Ice-T, for the Judgment Night movie soundtrack in 1993.[23]
[edit] Divine Intervention (1994--1995)
In 1994 Slayer released Divine Intervention, the band's first record with drummer Bostaph. The record became the band's highest charting at that time, debuting at #8 on the Billboard 200.[16] The album featured songs boasting about Reinhard Heydrich, an architect of the Holocaust, Jeffrey Dahmer, "213" his apartment number where he murdered, raped, and tortured seventeen victims. Other themes included murder, the evils of church, and the lengths to which governments will go to wield power, Araya's interest in serial killers inspired much of the lyrical content.[9][24]

Slayer geared up for a world tour in 1995, with openers Biohazard and Machine Head. A video of concert footage, Live Intrusion was released, featuring a joint cover of Venom's "Witching Hour" with Machine Head. Relations between Slayer and Machine Head have since badly deteriorated.[25] Following the tour, Slayer were billed fourth at the 1995 Monsters of Rock festival, headlined by Metallica.
[edit] Undisputed Attitude (1996--1997)
In 1996, Undisputed Attitude, an album of punk covers, was released. The band covered songs by Minor Threat, T.S.O.L., D.R.I., D.I., Dr. Know, Verbal Abuse and Iggy and the Stooges. The album featured three original tracks, "Gemini", "Can't Stand You", "Ddamm" written by Hanneman in 1984--1985 for a side project entitled "Pap Smear". Bostaph left Slayer shortly after the album's release to work on his own project, The Truth about Seafood. With Bostaph's departure, Slayer recruited Testament drummer Jon Dette, and headlined the 1996 Ozzfest alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Danzig, Biohazard, Sepultura, and Fear Factory. Dette was fired after a year, due to a fallout with band members; Bostaph returned to continue the tour.[26]
A lawsuit was brought against the band in 1996, by the parents of Elyse Pahler, who accused the band of encouraging their daughter's murderers through their lyrics.[27] Elyse was drugged, strangled, stabbed, trampled on, and raped as a sacrifice to the devil by three fans of the band.[27] The case was unsealed by the court on May 19, 2000, stating Slayer and related business markets distribute harmful products to teens, encouraging violent acts through their lyrics,[27] and "none of the vicious crimes committed against Elyse Marie Pahler would have occurred without the intentional marketing strategy of the death-metal band Slayer".[28] The lawsuit was dismissed in 2001, for multiple reasons including "principles of free speech, lack of a duty and lack of foreseeability".[29] A second lawsuit was filed by the parents, an amended complaint for damages against Slayer, their label, and other industry and label entities. The lawsuit was dismissed; Judge E. Jeffrey Burke stated "I do not consider Slayer's music obscene, indecent or harmful to minors."[29]
[edit] Diabolus in Musica (1998--2000)
Diabolus in Musica (Latin for "The Devil in Music")[30] was released in 1998, and debuted at #31 on the Billboard 200, selling over 46,000 copies.[31] The album received a mixed critical reception and was criticized for adopting characteristics of nu-metal music such as tuned down guitars, murky chord structures, and churning beats. Blabbermouth.net reviewer Borijov Krgin described the album as "a feeble attempt at incorporating updated elements into the group's sound, the presence of which elevated the band's efforts somewhat and offered hope that Slayer could refrain from endlessly rehashing their previous material for their future output.",[32] while New York Time's Ben Ratliff had similair sentiments by saying "eight of the 11 songs on Diabolus in Musica, a few of which were played at the show, are in the same gray key".[33] However, Adrien Begrand of PopMatters said the songs "Bitter Peace", "Death's Head", and "Stain of Mind"; "blow away anything that young pretenders like Slipknot have put out."[34]
The album was the band's first with drop D tuning, as featured on the lead track, "Bitter Peace",(sample (help·info)) making use of the musical range referred to in the Middle Ages as the tritone or Devil's scale.[35] Slayer teamed up with digital hardcore group Atari Teenage Riot to record a song for the Spawn soundtrack titled "No Remorse (I Wanna Die)". The band later payed tribute to Black Sabbath by recording a cover of "Hand of Doom" for the second of two tribute albums, entitled Nativity in Black II. A world tour followed to support the new album, with Slayer making an appearance at the United Kingdom Ozzfest 1998 alongside Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Foo Fighters, Pantera, Soulfly, Fear Factory, and Therapy?.
[edit] God Hates Us All (2001--2005)
The original cover of God Hates Us All was deemed "too graphic", so a slip-insert was created to allow the album to be distributed.
The original cover of God Hates Us All was deemed "too graphic", so a slip-insert was created to allow the album to be distributed.
After delays regarding remixing and artwork,[36] including slip covers created to cover the original artwork as it was deemed "too graphic", God Hates Us All was released on September 11, 2001. The band received its first Grammy nomination for the lead track "Disciple", although the Grammy was awarded to Tool, for "Schism".[37] Promotional material announcing the album title and release drew an unintended connection with the September 11 terrorist attacks.
The attacks jeopardized the 2001 European tour Tattoo the Planet originally set to feature Pantera, Static X, Biohazard and Vision of Disorder. Dates were canceled or postponed due to flight restrictions, with a majority of bands deciding to withdraw, leaving Slayer and Static X remaining for the European leg of the tour.[38] Pantera, Vision of Disorder and Biohazard were replaced by Cradle of Filth and other bands dependent on location; Amorphis, In Flames, Moonspell, Children of Bodom, and Necrodeath. Drummer Bostaph left Slayer before Christmas in 2001, due to a chronic elbow injury which would hinder his ability to play.[39] Slayer's "God Hates Us All" tour was unfinished so King contacted original drummer Lombardo, and asked if he would like to finish the remainder of the tour. Lombardo accepted the offer, and stayed as a permanent member.[39]
Slayer toured playing Reign in Blood in its entirety throughout the fall of 2003, under the tour banner "Still Reigning". Their playing of the final song "Raining Blood" culminated with the band drenched in a rain of fake blood. Live footage of this was recorded at the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta, Maine, on July 11, 2004 and released on the 2004 DVD Still Reigning. The band also released War at the Warfield and a box set, Soundtrack to the Apocalypse featuring rarities, live CD and DVD performances and various Slayer paraphernalia.
From 2002 to 2004 the band performed over 250 tour dates, headlining major music festivals including H82k2, Summer tour, Ozzfest 2004, the Download Festival and a European tour with Slipknot. While preparing for the Download Festival in England, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich was rushed to hospital with a mysterious illness, and was unable to perform.[40] Metallica vocalist James Hetfield searched for volunteers at the last minute to replace Ulrich; Lombardo and Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison volunteered, with Lombardo performing the songs "Battery" and "The Four Horsemen".[40]
[edit] Christ Illusion (2006--present)
The album Christ Illusion was originally scheduled for release on June 6, 2006, and would be the first album with original drummer Lombardo since 1990's Seasons in the Abyss.[41]. However, the band decided to delay the release of the record as they did not want to be among the many, according to King, "half-ass, stupid fucking loser bands" releasing records on June 6,[42] although USA Today reported the idea was thwarted because the band failed to secure sufficient studio recording time.[43] Instead, Slayer released Eternal Pyre on June 6 as a limited-edition EP. Eternal Pyre featured the song "Cult", a live performance of "War Ensemble" in Germany, video footage of the band recording "Cult", and a five minute video of a Slayer fan carving the band's name onto his forearm. Five thousand copies were released and sold exclusively through Hot Topic chain stores, and sold out within hours of release.[44] On June 30, Nuclear Blast Records released a 7" vinyl picture disc version limited to a thousand copies.[45]
Christ Illusion was released on August 8, 2006, and debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200, selling over 62,000 copies in its first week.[46] The album became Slayer's highest charting, improving on its previous highest charting album, Divine Intervention, which had debuted at #8. However, despite its high positioning, the album dropped to #44 in the following week.[47] Three weeks after the album's release Slayer were inducted into the Kerrang! Hall of Fame for their influence to the heavy metal scene.[48]

Slayer performing at The Unholy Alliance Tour
A worldwide tour dubbed The Unholy Alliance, was undertaken to support the new record. The tour was originally set to launch on June 6, but was postponed to June 10, as Araya had to undergo gall bladder surgery.[49] In Flames, Mastodon, Children of Bodom, Lamb of God, and Thine Eyes Bleed, Which features Araya's brother Johnny Araya, were supporting Slayer.[50] The tour made its way through America and Europe and the bands who participated, apart from Thine Eyes Bleed, reunited to perform at Japan's Loud Park Festival on October 15, 2006.[51]
The video for the album's first single, "Eyes of the Insane", was released on October 30, 2006.[52] The track was featured on the Saw III soundtrack, and won a Grammy-award for "Best Metal Performance" at the 49th Grammy Awards, although the band were unable to attend due to touring obligations.[53] A week later, the band visited the 52nd Services Squadron located on the Spangdahlem U.S. Air Force Base in Germany to meet and play a show. This was the first visit ever to a military base for the band.[54] The band made its first network TV appearance on the show Jimmy Kimmel Live! on January 19, playing the song "Eyes of the Insane", and four additional songs for fans after the show, although footage from "Jihad" was cut due to its controversial lyrical themes. Slayer toured Australia and New Zealand in April with Mastodon, and appeared at the Download Festival and Rock Am Ring.[56] The band planned to attend the Heineken Jammin' Festival,[57] Switzerland's Greenfield Festival, and a summer tour with Marilyn Manson.[58] In May 2007, Blabbermouth.net announced that a 'first English language Slayer biography' was being written by British author Joel McIver, although no release date was announced.[59]
[edit] Influence
Slayer is credited as one of the "Big four" thrash metal bands along with Megadeth, Anthrax and Metallica, all of which rose to fame in the early 1980s.[1] These four bands have had a great influence on thrash and death metal scenes. "Their downtuned rhythms, infectious guitar licks, graphically violent lyrics and grisly artwork set the standard for dozens of emerging thrash bands, and Slayer's music was directly responsible for the rise of death metal" states MTV, ranking Slayer as the sixth "greatest metal band of all time,"[15] also ranking number 50 on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock".[60] Hanneman and King ranked number 10 in Guitar World's "100 greatest metal guitarists of all time" in 2004,[61] and were voted "Best Guitarist/Guitar Team" in Revolver's reader's poll. Lombardo was also voted "Best Drummer" and the band entered the top five in the categories "Best Band Ever," "Best Live Band," "Album of the Year" (for Christ Illusion), and "Band of the Year."[62]
The band's 1986 release, Reign in Blood has been an influence to extreme and thrash metal bands since its release. The album was hailed the "heaviest album of all time" by Kerrang! Magazine,[3] a "genre-definer" by Stylus Magazine,[63] and a "stone-cold classic upon its release" by All Music Guide.[64] In 2006 it was named the best metal album of the last 20 years by Metal Hammer.[65] Richard Christy, former member of Death was blown away by Dave's performance on the album Reign in Blood,[66] as was Cannibal Corpse drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz.[67]
Drummer Lombardo has been an influence on many modern metal drummers including Ray Herrera of Fear Factory,[68] Pete Sandoval of Morbid Angel,[69] former Cradle of Filth drummer Adrian Erlandsson,[70] and Krisiun drummer Max Kolesne.[71] Patrick Grün of Caliban's inspiration to play drums came from Lombardo,[72] with Jason Bittner of Shadows Fall inspired by Lombardo's double bass, utilizing double bass when starting his own music career.[73]
[edit] Style
Early works were praised for their "breakneck speed and instrumental prowess," combining the structure of hardcore tempos and speed metal the band released fast, aggressive material.[1] The album Reign in Blood is the band's fastest, performed at an average of 250 beats per minute.[74] The album Diabolus in Musica was the band's first with drop D tuning, God Hates Us All the first with drop B tuning - utilizing seven-string guitars.[75] All Music Guide cited the album as "abandoning the extravagancies and accessibility of their late-'80s/early-'90s work and returning to perfect the raw approach",[76] with some fans labeling it nu-metal.[77]
Hanneman's and King's dual guitar solos have been called "wildly chaotic,"[1] and "twisted genius."[78] Drummer Lombardo uses two bass drums, instead of the double kick which is used on a single bass drum. Lombardo's speed and aggression earned him the title of the "godfather of double bass" by Drummerworld. Lombardo states his reasons for using two bass drums: "When you hit the bass drum the head is still resonating. When you hit it in the same place right after that you kinda get a "slapback" from the bass drum head hitting the other pedal. You're not letting them breathe." When playing the double bass Lombardo uses the "heel-up" technique, angling his pedals.
Writing lyrics and music
Hanneman, King and Araya contribute to the band's lyrics, and Lombardo, King and Hanneman create the music. Araya's first contribution to lyrical content was 1988's South of Heaven, forming a lyric writing partnership with Hanneman, which can overshadow the creative input of King.Hanneman states writing lyrics and music is a "free for all"; "It's all just whoever comes up with what. Sometimes I'll be more on a roll and I'll have more stuff, same with Kerry — it's whoever's hot, really. Anybody can write anything; if it's good we use it, if not we don't."
When writing new material the band writes the music before incorporating lyrics. King or Hanneman will use a 24-track and drum machine to show band members the riff they have created, and to get their opinion. Either King or Hanneman and Lombardo will mention if any alterations can be made. The band will play the riff to get the basic song structure, and figure out where the lyrics and solos will be placed.
Feuds
As of 2007, Araya and King have an ongoing feud with Dave Mustaine of Megadeth. It began when Mustaine attempted to convince King to stay with Megadeth rather than the "lame spikes" and "eyeliner" with the "poseurs" in 1984. Mustaine proceeded to tell Araya he liked it when he "sucked his dick" at the 1991 "Clash of the Titans" tour. Araya rebutted calling him a "homo" on stage. Since their falling out at the tour, King lashed out at Mustaine in several interviews stating he is a "cocksucker", "everybody hates him", and he is a "dictator". Recently in GuitarWorld.com's Dear Guitar Hero, King "admires him to this day" but as a guitarist even though he considers Mustaine as a "hypocrite".
Relations between Machine Head and Slayer deteriorated when King labeled Machine Head as "sell-outs" after the release of its 2001 album Supercharger. King continued to criticize the band stating "They're responsible for rap-metal", "they fooled me into thinking they're metal", "'they have no integrity left." Machine Head front man Robb Flynn stated King was not provoked, and these comments had come from nowhere. Flynn, who once idolized King rebutted "Oh, Mr. SUM 41 video has so much fuckin' integrity now!? Shit?!" after King appeared in Sum 41's music video "What We're All About", also stating "King's eaten so many cheeseburgers his brain's starting to clog up." However, on June 16, 2007 Flynn reported that the two sorted out their 'beef' at the Metal Hammer Awards, at which Slayer won an award for 'Metal Icon'.
Controversy
The lyrics of "Angel of Death" were inspired by the acts of Josef Mengele during World War II
Slayer has been accused of holding Nazi sympathies, due to the band's eagle logo bearing resemblance to the Eagle atop swastika, Schutzstaffel stickers on guitars, and the lyrics of "Angel of Death". The lyrics of "Angel of Death" were inspired by the acts of Josef Mengele, the doctor who conducted human experiments on Jewish and Roma prisoners during World War II at the Auschwitz concentration camp, and was dubbed the "Angel of Death" by inmates. Throughout their career, the band members were asked about these accusations, and have stated numerous times they do not condone Nazism, and are merely interested in the subject.
Slayer's cover of Minor Threat's "Guilty Of Being White" raised questions about a possible message of white supremacy in the band's music. The controversy surrounding the cover involved the changing of the refrain "guilty of being white" to "guilty of being right", at the song's ending. This incensed Minor Threat frontman Ian MacKaye, who stated "that is so offensive to me".
In a 2004 interview with Araya, when asked, "did critics realize you were wallowing in parody?", Araya replied, "No. People thought we were serious!...back then you had that PMRC, who literally took everything to heart, when in actuality you're trying to create an image. You're trying to scare people on purpose". Araya also denied rumors that Slayer members are Satanists, but they find the subject of Satanism interesting and "we are all on this planet to learn and experience".
The controversial cover of "Christ Illusion"
The song "Jihad" of the album Christ Illusion sparked controversy among families of the September 11 victims. The song deals with the attack from the perspective of a religious terrorist. The band stated the song is spoken through perspective without being sympathetic to the cause, and supports neither side. Seventeen bus benches promoting the album in Fullerton, California were deemed offensive by city officials. They felt the Antichrist and skull were inappropriate, and felt the name "Slayer" pertains to a murderer. City officials contacted the band's record label and demanded that the ads be removed. All seventeen benches were removed.
In India, the album was recalled by EMI India after protests with Muslim and Christian religious groups due to the nature of the graphic artwork. The album cover depicts Christ mutilated, missing arms and an eye, in a sea of blood with severed heads. On October 11, 2006 EMI announced that all stocks had been destroyed, noting it had no plans to re-release the record in India in the future.

All four members are of Armenian descent, grandsons of Armenian Genocide survivors, and are widely known for their outspoken views found in many of their songs. System of a Down has achieved commercial success over five albums, with singles such as "Chop Suey!" and "B.Y.O.B.". System of a Down is a part of the Axis of Justice, a non-profit organization formed by band member Serj Tankian (along with Tom Morello) that is dedicated to bringing together musicians, music fans, and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice. http://systemofadown.com
History
[edit] Soil (1991-1995)
The roots of System of a Down lie in the band Soil, a group from Los Angeles that included Serj Tankian on vocals and Daron Malakian on guitar, as well as Dave Hakopyan (Bassist for Apex Theory) on bass and Domingo Laranio (Local Hawaii Drummer) on drums. Shavo Odadjian joined Soil near their end as a guitarist. After three years, only one live show, and one jam session recording, the band split up.
[edit] In the beginning (1995 - 1997)
After Soil split up, Tankian and Malakian then formed a new band, System of a Down, based on a poem that Daron wrote.
Debut album (1998 - 2000)
In the summer of 1998, System of a Down released their debut album, System of a Down.
(2001 - 2003)
The group's big break arrived when their second album Toxicity debuted at #1 on the American and Canadian charts, eventually achieving multi-platinum certification.
[edit] Mezmerize/Hypnotize (2004 - 2005)
From 2004 to 2005, the group produced a double album, Mezmerize/Hypnotize with the two parts released six months apart.

We've done System for over ten years, and I think it's healthy to take a rest."
On July 8 at the Ozzfest, Malakian improvised the lyrics to "Lonely Day", saying "Such a lonely day, with the band/these motherfuckers I can't stand!".[11] However, later in an interview with Kerrang!, Malakian stated that he said "this" (referring to the day) rather than "these" (referring to the band).
Us four right here, we will always be System of a Down!"[citation needed]
During the hiatus, Malakian, Dolmayan and Odadjian will be in a band called Scars on Broadway, and will work on its debut album in the fall. Odadjian will also be participating in the project. He will also be working on a project with RZA of Wu-Tang Clan. Tankian plans to keep recording as a solo artist/producer in "Serjical Strike", while Dolmayan, on top of Scars on Broadway, plans to open a comic book store online, which should be up online in November 2007.[12]
System of a Down's final performance before their hiatus took place on August 13, 2006 in West Palm Beach, Florida. "Tonight will be the last show we play for a long time together," Malakian told the crowd during Sunday's last performance. "We'll be back. We just don't know when."[13] It was stated by Sharon Osbourne that System of a Down were paid "about $325,000 a show."[14]
System of a Down's latest info is that their songs will be used in the new 2006 film "Screamers". An earlier engagement will start exclusively in Los Angeles on Friday, December 8, 2006."
System of a Down was honored at the USC v.
It'll be later down the line; then we'll be able to tell what might happen."[15]
Bassist Shavo Odadjian was recently revealed to be directing the first video for the comeback of the hardcore punk band, Bad Brains. [16]
For the 2007 Grammys, System of a Down was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance for "Lonely Day", but lost to Wolfmother and their song "Woman".
[edit] Music style and influences
System of a Down's main influence is mostly from early alternative rock bands, as well as from heavy metal, punk rock, jazz fusion, Armenian folk music (Harout, Paul, Armik), classic rock, blues, industrial genres, and Middle Eastern music.
[edit] Genre dispute
There is some contention over the band's genre. They were clearly able to create their own identity and unique sound."[17]
Guitarist Daron Malakian has said in a Guitar World interview that he is glad System of a Down has not slipped into the nu metal genre. During a 2005 concert, he announced, "They used to call us nü-metal, now they call us prog rock. Whatever's popular at the moment, I think that's what they'll call us."[18]
In a 2005 interview with the Houston Press, Malakian said, "Lately, we've been doing interviews, and people have been like, 'You guys are really leading the way for the new prog movement,' and I'm like, 'What?' ...It's just kind of aggravating that people always have to have something to compare us to, or bunch us up with. I'm not saying we're the most original band in the world, but I don't really feel that we fall into a heavy-metal category or a pure rock category. There's a lot of stuff mixed up into one."[citation needed]
Against comparisons to Rage Against the Machine, Tankian said, "Yeah, we have some political songs, but we have more that are about love and life and sex and pogo-stick orgies and all that."[17]
Malakian said, "We don't belong to any one scene."System has also been described as a mixture of aggro punk, classic metal, Frank Zappa, goth, and Armenian music.

Experimentation (1997-2001)
After Chris Kontos left to work with Testament, the drumming services of Dave McClain formerly of Sacred Reich were acquired.
[edit] Decline (2002-2003)
In 2002 Ahrue Luster left the band and was temporarily replaced by Phil Demmel, who played in thrash band Vio-lence alongside Flynn.
[edit] Revival (2003-present)
However in March 2003, the band's spirits would rise when Phil decided to rejoin the group full time, and Roadrunner International (Europe and the rest of the world) came to the band with an offer.
[edit] Recent Activites
Machine Head started off 2007 by opening for Lamb Of God on their US tour in support of their album, Sacrament.
—Dave McClain, Machine Head Diary[3]
Some consider early Machine Head to be groove metal and may be one of the original bands in that sub-genre.
[edit] Trivia
Although Burn My Eyes was more influential as an album to the metal scene in general, according to a Blabbermouth.net Report, The Burning Red moved almost as many units in 3 years (1999-2002) as Burn My Eyes did in 8 years (1994-2002).
In fact he claims he did not even know Deep Purple had an album called Machine Head.[citation needed]
The Blackening album leaked onto the internet in late Jan 2007. 2 months before its release date. (Less)
