Zero quickly caught it with his hands, preventing it from stabbing him. Mary noticed the danger Zero was in and knocked the sword out of the armor's hand. Zero flipped the sword around, grabbing the handle. Raising the sword over his head, Zero delivered the finishing blow, cutting the armor in half. They were both silent, as if expecting one of the armors to start moving again. Zero: ... That appendage of your's is very effective... Mary was surprized that Zero somehow noticed. Mary: How did you kno - - Um... Thanks? Mary didn't know whether to take that as a compliment or an insult. Zero: But without proper training such power is useless. Mary took that as an insult. Mary: What's that suppose to mean?! Zero ignored her question, or her anger for that mannor. Zero: When there is spare time, I can help you train. Now we need to get back... We don't want anyone worrying... Zero speedily exited the room and started making his way to the exit of the building. Mary: Wait up! Mary knew Zero most likely wouldn't listen to that. She then went running after him, trying to catch up. Several miles of running later Zero lead Mary back to the entrance an old, oriental resembling town. Zero stopped running just as quickly as he started. Mary was very exhausted. Mary: *pant* *pant* *pant* You're unbelieve- *pant* -able..! *pant* How can *pant* you *pant* run for *pant* so long *pant* and not be *pant* the least bit *pant* tired..? Mary sat down to try to catch her breath. Zero: This way. Zero ran off into the town. Mary: *cough* Wait..! Oh man... Mary slowly stood up and attempted to follow him. As Mary walked wearily through the town she could hear people talking of a newcomer. She of course knew by 'newcomer' they meant her. She eventually caught Zero going into a large building. 'Maybe the owner of the town is in there.' Mary thought. As fast as she could (which is slower than the average person at the moment), Mary entered the building. She found Zero talking to a woman working behind a counter. Zero: I have something important to tell the chief. woman: I'm sorry, you know how busy he is. Zero: It's about the shar-makai. The demeanor of the woman changed. woman: Why didn't you say so earlier? The woman noticed Mary walk in. woman: Ma'am, if you have business with the chief you're going to have to wait. Zero then looked to see who it was, noticing that it was Mary. Zero: Don't worry. She's with me. Mary: I'm guessing you *pant* don't know the *pant* meaning of *pant* 'slow down,' Zero? Zero: Let's just say that some of the training I'll give you will be unexpected. Mary: What?! So I won't always know if you're testing me or not?! Zero: I wouldn't say 'testing' necissarily... But yes. Mary got a little frustrated. The woman chuckled. woman: I didn't know you were giving training lessions, Zero. Zero ignored the comment. Zero: This way, Mary. Zero lead the way at a leasurly pace. Mary sighed out of relief. Mary: Atleast you're not running... Mary then followed Zero. Zero went to an upper level of the compartment. They went in a large, relatively featurless room. A not so heavily built man in heavy armor with wild green hair a strange ruby headed rod was in the room, staring at the sun through a large window (whether it was rising or setting, Mary didn't know). Zero: I bring favorable news, chief. The point of origin has been sanitized. The shar-makai are gone. The chief began to chant, his voice calm and subtle, and yet wild and powerful at the same time. As the head of the rod began to glow, the chief peered into it. Chief: I've noticed you were not alone, Zero. Where is this 'Mary Deiyon' that accompanied you? Mary: I'm right here. He began to chant again. the chanting went on for about a minute. He then turned around. His eyes were grey and he had a serious look on his face. He then looked at Mary. Chief: You've been through alot, haven't you? Mary: Um... Well... Chief: You don't need to lie to me. I just took a glance at the last few days of your life. A strange cup with a green liquid formed in one of his hands. Chief: You'll need to drink this. Mary: Um... thanks? Mary slowly walked over to the chief and took the cup from him. She slowly drank from the cup. The taste was familiar to Mary. Mary: Is this tea? Chief: Yes... But it is also necissary. Mary fell to her knees began to cough. About ten seconds later Mary coughed up what looked like the root of some sort of small tree. The root could do nothing but squirm. The chief stomped it to pieces, it making squealing noises as it died. Mary began to catch her breath. Zero: ... What was that, chief? Chief: Early on her journey, Mary met a strange person made of wood. The being was hostile and almost killed Mary. Before she went unconsious he forced her to swallow a very rare seed. Personally, I thought they were extinct. The point is, the seed was of a rare parasitic plant that grows on or in a person. After a certain ammount of gestation time, it can choose what what to do to it's host. Many of the things it could have done are bad to one's health. Some of the things fatal. Mary covered her mouth. Mary: *cough* Thank you... I guess... *cough* Chief: I should tell everyone that the shar-makai within our region cannot gain reinforcments now. I should also tell the people of our new ally. Zero, do as you will. Just remember that Mary needs you. Apparantly there are more shar-makai where she comes from. Zero: ..?! Chief: She already found the other people that her annonymous letter told her to. So don't worry. Zero stood motionless, his face seemed to blend in with she shadows based on the suns position (Remember, Mary still doesn't know the time of day here). Zero was absorbing the information he just gathered. Zero: ... Zero left the building. Mary: By the way... Where I was at earlier today, it was early morning. What time is it here? Chief: It's the evening. Mary: Really..? Well, that's okay to hear. I couldn't really tell as soon as I got here. Mary laughed nervously. Chief: By the way, you remember those strange beings talking to you yesturday? Mary grew silent for a second. Mary: ... Yes... Chief: I don't know how to tell you this... But you have a strange gift, but something about it plagues you. Mary: What do you mean? Mary was intrieged by his last statement. Chief: Yes. Those things weren't actually 'monsters' in the normal sense... They were angels. Mary: What?! Mary jumped back a few feet out of shock. Mary: Divine beings sent by a holy diety?! How could that be?! Not only did I hear those were only in stories, but I heard they were suppose to look like people with feathered wings! Chief: Angels are very mysterious, indeed. They can take any manifestation that they feel is necisary... How much power they have limits how deadly they are, depending on the individual. Every so often, they are sent to do one task or another. Most of the time they show up, it's usually because some priest or cultist or just a summoner in general summons them. But this was different. They came for you, Mary. And apparantly, you can speak in multiversal tongue. Mary: Coming for me?! Multiversal what?! Mary's breathing rate increased. Chief: Calm down. Their's nothing to worry about. Her breathing rate went back to normal. Mary: Could you please explain what you mean? Chief: Well, I'm not sure what they want from you, but you can speak in multiversal tongue. It was the first method of communication, devised by the earliest of sentient lifeforms in the multiverse. This language is tricky for non-supernatural beings to learn, for you have to speak directly from the heart. Did you even learn this language on your own? Mary: ... No... I didn't even know I was speaking another language... What is the multiverse? Chief: Well, the easy way to explain it is it's like the universe that contains other universes. Every universe is another dimension of exsistance, and over time, more can form into exsistance. Do you see my point? Mary: Yes. Now things from before are making sense now... Mary started staring at the sunset. Mary: (I wonder if my origins and my real family are out there... Somewhere...) Chief: Unless you have anything else to talk about, we should introduce you to the rest of the town. Mary mind came back to the current reality. She then turned her head toward the chief. Mary: Sure thing... By the way, what is your name? The chief shuck his head. Chief: I keep that a secret to most. Sorry. Mary: Oh... I understand. There has been a whole lot of wierd stuff going on. The chief smiled. Chief: Anyway, off we go. Mary followed the chief through many parts of the town. Eventually, they got to a huge circular outdoor meeting place. The people that noticed the chief followed them there. The chief got in the center, the people started crowding around. The chief motioned for Mary to stand beside him, and so she did. Chief: people of the town of Hinansho. I'd like to announce that the point of the shar-makai's origin has been sealed. Thanks to the courage of Zero and our new ally, Mary Deiyon. The people began to cheer. Mary felt flatured, and decided to wave to them all with her extra appandage. This caused people to be intrigued. Suddenly, a little boy showed. Boy: Cool scarf! Can I touch it?! Before Mary could awnser, he grabbed her arm (scarf) and yanked it. Mary panicked. The boy's eyes widened out of exitement. Boy: Wow! This isn't a scarf at all! So cool! Mary felt relieved. These people didn't seem to be afraid at all. Boy: I wish I had an arm like that! More children showed. Children: Hey! We wanna see, too! Chief: Now now. Best not to weird out our guest. Mary smiled. Mary: I don't mind. Chief: Sorry, this is how they've treated all of the outsiders that come here, including Zero. Mary: No problem. A girl rubbed her extra arm. Girl: It feels soft. Not how I expected. Another boy started poking at it. Boy2: How does it hold it's shape so well? There isn't a single bone in that arm! Mary: I wish I could tell you... But I don't know anyone else like this. Mary laughed nervously, but that soon stopped as she noticed that someone was watching her. She then noticed a serious looking man standing on the treebranch of a relatively large tree off in the distance. He had ears simmilar to Link's, long, strait, bright green hair, and a mostly blue wardrobe. He gave her a stern look. Mary noticed the cold intensity in his eyes. A violet sword formed in one of his hands. He pointed it at Mary in an unsettling mannor, shaking his head. Mary did not the look of this. 'But why would he be after me' she thought. She decided that all she could do was look back at him in a serious mannor. Zero: Mary. Mary turned her attention from the man to face Zero. Mary: Yes? Zero: Don't we have to go somewhere? Mary: Yes... But I just realized I have to do something here. I can't run from all my problems. Zero stared at Mary for a few secons. He then slowly nodded his head. Woman in the croud: I could clean andsew up that outfit of your's for you! Mary looked at her clothes, noticing a few dirt spots, some tairs and many blood stains. Mary: Um, sure! Before following the voice of that woman, Mary looked back at the tree only to find that the man was gone. The woman took her back to her house. While the woman began to fix Mary's clothes, Mary decided to relax in the spring just behind the woman's (and many other people's) house. It was nighttime now. Mary noticed the full moon off in the distance. There were many stars, More than Mary had ever seen at once. Everything was serene. She now had time to think. Mary: (I have found all of the heroes now... I wonder if the mars people will pick me and Zero up soon... Training huh..? I wonder what Zero wants me to learn... I hope the others arrent worrying about me too much... I wonder how Alice is holding up at the orphanage [ooc: I just mentioned a character you may see later]... I hope she's okay... Hmm.. So I can speak what is apparently the eldest of languages... What exactly could those angels want from me..? 'Don't mind us, we just came to talk'... '...we shall give you a test... To see what you're truly fighting for'... Are they just experimenting with me..? No... Something tells me they want something much deeper than that... And that man from earlier...) ???: Quit lounging around, demon! Mary stopped thinking to see who it was. She noticed it was the man in the tree from before. Reflexively, she backed away and tried to cover anything she didn't want him to see. Mary: Who are you?! What are you doing here?! Woman: Mary! I finished fixing you're outfit! I even gave it regenerating properties and the ability to clean itself over time! Both Mary and the man turned to see what it was. The woman stept outside, holding Mary's outfit, to find Mary and the man. Mary felt very embarrased. Woman: Oh my! I didn't know you were into that, Slash! Slash: It not - - Ugh! Just get you're clothes on, Mary! We have to settle this! This seemed a little to sudden for Mary, but she nodded. She then quickly got out of the water and grabbed her clothes, dashing into the womans house. A few minutes of quickly putting clothes on later, Mary got back outside, tripping on the way out. Standing back up, Mary faced Slash. Mary: Are you sure you want to do this? Slash: I need to do this! Slash reformed his sword like he did earlier. Mary prepared for the worst. ------------------------------------------- Sorry that this took awhile. I got writers block.
