Description: Genuine human specimens offered by The Anatomy Store, classified as "permanent anatomical specimens" as distinguished by having been professionally & medically prepared and preserved in (More) Genuine human specimens offered by The Anatomy Store, classified as "permanent anatomical specimens" as distinguished by having been professionally & medically prepared and preserved in a durable fashion; intended solely for the purposes of anatomical studies, instruction, and education. •Female specimen, approximately 40 Years of age. Considered judgment & professional opinion indicates that the specimen is Asian. Features such as short stature, Prognathic face with procumbent teeth, meaning with a flat or forward projecting face, with a high vault, and wide interorbital distance, gives credence to the Asian origin •The exact age of the preparation is not known but it is a modern style of assembly commonly used in Asian preparations. The assembly is high detailed hand work. •There are no signs of excessive handling such as un-natural stain, cracks, missing or broken bones, broken wiring, or any other defect. •The sternal cartlidge section is soft foam. •The hands and feet are 100% complete. They are articulated with wire to assure proper natural form. The fingers & toes may me manipulated as needed as they are not fixed, but flexibly wired. •The specimen is in overall exceptional condition, It is solid with no damage. The skull has no looseness of plates, cracks, or unnatural damage. •Both Zygomatics are present and solid, often these are broken from handling or thay have damage which may have occurred in preparation. •There are no voids in the Bony orbits of the skull. •The upper external Nasal Bone is complete. see detail photos. •12 natural TEETH are present. It is not known if these are original to the specimen. •The Skull's Nasal - Ethmoid Bone structure is complete consisting of Inferior and Middle Nasal Concha. The Perpendicular plate is intact. •The skull or skeleton has no additional finish such as lacquer, varnish, or polyurethane. It is clean and free of stain. There is no chalking, flaking, peeling or odor. •Steel springs are present as the mandible articulation hardware, allowing the jaw to open within the natural range of movement. •There is no play or looseness among the skull's sutures. No other sutures on the skull itself are loose, even the Squamous Sutures which would normally be expected to be loose are tight. •Anomaly: Eagles syndrome; Eagle's syndrome is a rare disease which occurs when an elongated styloid process or calcified styloid ligament causes recurrent throat pain or foreign body sensation, dysphagia, or facial pain. Eagle's is also sometimes called "styloid process neuralgia" or "elongated styloid process syndrome" •Additional symptoms may include neck or throat pain with radiation to the ipsilateral ear, dizziness, due to orthostatic blood pressure variation, partial occlusion of vertebral vessels, impingement of spinal nerves involved in the spino-vestibular pathways, or posterior semi-circular canal cupulolithiasis. •In adults, the styloid process is approximately 1.5 mm long, and its tip is located between the external and internal carotid arteries, just lateral to the tonsillar fossa. This specimen's styloids are roughly double the naturally occurring normal length at 3.0mm •There appears to be other naturally occurring anomalies in the bone, such as on the Patella and the upper neck of the femurs •This is an excellent natural bone human skeletal preparation.
