He just needed to see her and maybe it would all come together then. Before he had a chance to change his mind her started to sprint through the snow. About 10 minutes later he reached Alexa's house. He knocked once. No answer. Twice. Kevin came to the door.
"What Nicholas?" Kevin's voice was cold.
"I need to see her." Nick hardened his face. "Now."
Kevin let Nick inside.
"Shes in her room." Kevin sighed.
Nick ignored everyone else and ran up the stairs. He heard voices and paused he could make out a few words. It's okay. I'll be here for you. You don't need him. Wipe your eyes. Give it sometime. You're stronger than this. Nick had enough he swung open the door.
"Who the hell are you?" Nick glared the stocky boy wrapped around Alexa. "Dom?"
"Nick, I can explain." Dominic pleaded with Nick.
"Leave." Nick said simply. "I have to talk to her."
Dominic took a longing glace at Alexa before slipping out of the door.
"What the hell was he doing in here?" Nick stared at Alexa.
"Um talking to me?" Alexa replied in an aggravated tone. "Not that you would understand anything like that right Nicholas?"
The way she said Nicholas. It wasn't right. It made his heart freeze. She wasn't happy at all.
"Alexa I—" Nick tried to speak.
"NO SHUT UP!" Alexa's screeched. "YOU HAD THE BALLS TO SAY YOU FUCKING LOVED ME! YOU ARE A FUCKING LIAR."
"ALEXA I SAID I LOVED YOU." Nick screamed back. "NOT SOME ILLEGITIMATE CHILD!"
"What?" Alexa stared at him. "What did you say? Are you implying that you only want to leave me if I was pregnant?!"
"Shit Alexa just-" Nick once again tried to speak.
"No! That's the lowest most selfish thing I have ever heard!" Alexa teared up. "I can't even stand to look at you!"
"You act like you would want a baby too!" Nick kept yelling. "You don't want a baby either!"
"I'm not pregnant dipshit!" Alexa choked out. "I'm done with you Nick. DONE."
"Alexa please I'm sorry." Nick tried to apologize.
"DONE!" Alexa shouted and pointed to the door. "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out."

He could hear raised voices and someone shushing Alexa, Kevin he assumed. He could hear the pain in every breath she took. Those short ragged breaths. It broke his heart, if he even really had one anymore.

Alexa watched Nick pull away from Allyson and peer around the yard. Thankfully it was snowing so hard that he wasn't able to see Kevin or Alexa. But he knew someone was there.
"Come on." Alexa pulled Kevin to his feet. "We'll walk to my house, its too dangerous to drive."
"Wait." Kevin stopped. "Why didn't you say anything?"
"I don't know." Alexa said in a hoarse whisper. "Because I don't want to believe it's true."
"Come on sweetie." Kevin pulled her under his arm. "We'll make you something like cocoa and curl up on the couch and watch whatever movie you want." He hugged her tighter. She was shivering uncontrollably.
What the hell is wrong with Nicholas! Kevin thought to himself as he glanced at the beautiful girl wrapped around his body. She was his little sister and even Nick who is his own blood should ever hurt a girl this badly. She shook again. He needed to get her to her house soon before she got sick.
They climbed through the snow. Finally arriving at Alexa's house.
"Come on." Kevin encouraged. "Go put some warm clothes on."
He shook the snow off his body and started to boil some hot water. Alexa came down stairs in sweats and her hair in a messy bun. She grinned at Kevin and threw some of Nick's clothes that he left here at Kevin. "Get changed."
They curled up together, slipping their hot cocoa on the couch.
"Lexi?" Kevin's softly called out.
"Yeah?" Alexa turned her eyes away from the T.V. and set them on his.
"We can't hide in this house forever." Kevin sighed.
Alexa grew silent and twisted the ring Nick gave her around her finger staring at it as if it had all the answers. "Why did he do that?" Alexa finally asked, her eyes filling with tears.
"Alexa, I have no idea." Kevin shook his head. She rested her head on his shoulder and cried softly. He was so confusing. Did he care or didn't he? She finally cried herself to sleep. Kevin's arms holding her against his body, what was Nick going to do. He couldn't keep living his life like this. Alexa can't handle it.

"Where is Alexa?" Joe questioned, glaring at Nick and Allyson.

To the surprise of many, the disappointment of New York and the delighted glee of UK fans, the Sex and the City world premiere was held in London. It's a city occasionally blessed with big premieres but few of this scale and rarely anticipated with such fervour. In the sport of premiere-watching world premieres are the acme, the zenith, the cup finals. The profound thrill of global exclusivity brings with it hordes of media, a higher calibre of celeb attendees and of course absolutely huge rubbernecked crowds. And that makes it a contact sport. A very close-contact sport indeed. Sort of like rugby league for sardines. For a usual premiere you can arrive in the early afternoon reasonably confident of grabbing a front row view of the carpet and stars. But by lunchtime the majorly female crowd was four or five rows deep at least. People happily standing for 6 hours in sweltering heat, whilst nervously jostling for better positions. By the time the stars started arriving there were people hanging out of nearby windows and peering over fences just to get a glimpse of proceedings. The Leicester Square streaming cam had choked but mercifully the tension and frenzy didn't descend into complete chaos as has been known to happen at the very biggest of premieres. (Pirates of the Caribbean). That said when the four girls arrived, in turn they were each greeted by a deafening roar of shrieking adulation. Sections of the crowd hysterically chanting their names in fierce competition for attention. Madness, utter madness.Premiere crowds are mostly populate by autograph collectors and bemused mild-mannered tourists, but today the Square was invaded by an army. A wild mob of girls and women desperate to be close to four of the most iconic female characters in modern culture. Each clinging to the hope that some Manolo Blahnik shod Cosmopolitan magic would rub off on them. Perhaps merely to say "I was there!". The pervasion of the publicity and the series' throng base lingered at least till the next lunchtime. I personally was separately approached by three female colleagues enquiring if I'd been there. Maybe it was just the faint hint of pheromone that lingered on me. The fans had to battle hard to pry the four main stars away from hundreds of TV crews and the lure of the paparazzi's flash guns but to their credit all four ladies did sign for many sections of the teeming masses that cried out for them. In particular it was nice to see Kim Catrall signing at all, when she allegedly has a reputation for serious fan dodging. Very few fans were fortunate enough to get autographs from all four, although most people on the very front row seemed to get at least one or two, giving them that magic memento they were hoping for - to the instant envy of those watching from a few rows back and afar. As for the celeb spotting. I was surprised there weren't a few more A-listers on show for a premiere this big. Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child and hip hopper Nelly were unexpected guests which certainly seemed to delight certain sections of the crowd. Beyond that it was mostly British celebs, Martine McCutcheon, Sugababes, Keely Hawes, Davina McCall, Vivienne Westwood and Michelle Ryan that pulled on the pretty and not so pretty frocks for the occasion. Not quite the glittering heights of a Harry Potter or a James Bond premiere but still all in all one of the most electric atmospheres for many months.

Some sitcoms write themselves. In the case of M*A*S*H*, Father Ted and The Office it's because the characters are so acutely drawn and their relationships so expertly infused with tension that comedy flows effortlessly from every situation they get into. In the case of My Family it's because of the poverty of aspiration of the writers and the remorseless insistence on sticking to the family sitcom formula.
There must be other sitcoms less suited to a clips show but I can't think of them offhand. My Family: Reloaded provided us with various scenarios from the six-year run of the show. Ben and Susan Harper (luvvie stalwarts Robert Lindsay and Zoë Wanamaker) have the utterly predictable sitcom relationship. A stressed, middle-class man manipulated by his dominating wife. Ben is a dentist by day and a mild-mannered misanthrope by night - a diet Victor Meldrew. Susan is also misanthropic but more inclined to get excited about furnishings and the like.
I'm not sure where the comic conflict between the two is supposed to be. Margaret Meldrew could not have been more different from her husband - she was a civilising force and comic foil in the relationship. Ben and Susan are too alike to have convincing arguments. Every row seems contrived and the put-downs could have been scripted for any one of a hundred sitcom couples.
They have a thick son, Nick, played excellently by Kris Marshall. In the first series Nick looked to have potential as a great comedy thicky. He may never have been Trigger or Dougal but it was the biggest loss to the show when he went to look for serious acting work like those BT commercials. He has a face built for comedy.
Pissdrinking bastard Daniela Denby-Ashe plays Janey, the wayward stroppy daughter effectively enough. Her malleable morals and unapologetic sexuality are the closest this show gets to subversion. It would be interesting to see what she gets up to past the watershed. And not just for the obvious reasons.
There's another son who I, and the rest of the viewers, couldn't really give two fucks about.
The clips came and they went: Ben being punched, Nick entering the room in stupid outfits, Michael playing at soldiers, Nick snogging his father, disturbingly. Nothing really raised a smile despite the best efforts of the sulphate-blitzed studio audience who choked with laughter at every pratfall and telegraphed one-liner.
There's not lot I can say about My Family - it's a sunny day and I have a life to lead. It isn't the worst family sitcom around. Tragically, it's probably the best British one. Comparing it to the incandescent genius of the recently deceased Malcolm in the Middle just amplifies its shortcomings. There will be several more seasons to come. Count on it.
