Delije is plural of the singular form (More) Delije (Serbian: Делије) is an umbrella name referring to the supporters of various sports clubs that compete under Red Star Belgrade Sports Society banner. Delije is plural of the singular form delija which is originally a Turkish word that entered the Serbian language during the Ottoman occupation of Serbia (15th to 19th century). Nowadays the term in Serbian generally means brave, strong or even handsome young man, but in 19th century it was a colloquial name for a Janissary - a member of the elite (and infamous, among the Christians of the Ottoman Empire) warrior caste of the Ottoman army whose ranks were often filled with young men who had been abducted, in their early youth, from their Christian families, converted to Islam and raised as soldiers.
Though the Red Star Sports Society has clubs in over twenty sports, Delije mostly focus on football (FK Crvena zvezda) and basketball (KK Crvena zvezda). The name Delije first began to be used by hardcore Red Star supporters during late 1980s, with official inauguration taking place on 7 January 1989. Up to that point, the diehard Red Star fans were scattered amongst about eight fan groups that shared the north stand at the Red Star Stadium (known colloquially as Marakana), most prominent of which were Red Devils, Zulu Warriors and Ultras. As a sign of appreciation Red Star Football Club painted the word Delije in block letters across their stadium's north stand - the gathering point of the club's most loyal and passionate fans. (Less)

Ten years after the end of the war, Serbs and Croats, ordinary citizens; former combatants, those who lost family members, teachers, musicians and refugees; self-critically examine the painful and unresolved issues from the violent past.
Instead of meeting directly, their dialogue is being simulated through the film, where they ask each other questions and provide answers to them.
They talk about what their pain is and what they reproach either side in conflict, but also about their hopes and lessons learned from the past. Some of the question addressed are:
What is justice? How to reach reconciliation? Who is responsible and what responsible action should be at present times?
"It is incorrect that time will heal the wounds by itself" says a combatant who has spent four years in war. His message is that striving towards and building peace starts from oneself, from requestioning own responsibility and that of one's own side, and taking actions for more prosperous future. Confronting the past constructively means building peace for the present and future. (Less)

Servians Hide Their Nazi Past
The Calgary Sun, Feb. 22, 1993:
Wartime Whitewash
by Paul Jackson
Sitting in the Ban Cafe in Zagreb, Jakov Sedlar looked at me and said, "I
simply had to get a female voice for the narration. No man could ever
tell the story with the quiet sympathy demanded."
Sedlar, artistic director of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, was
telling me about his 20-minute documentary THE UNTOLD HOLOCAUST, and how
he persuaded Sally Kellerman - known internationally for her portrayal of
Major "Hot Lips" Houlihan in the movie version of M*A*S*H - to talk about
death rather than joy.
THE UNTOLD HOLOCAUST tells the story of Serbia's wartime genocide against
its Jewish population between 1941 and 1945. I'd been pointed in its
direction by Zlatan Gleb, of the Zagreb Jewish Community Centre.
Wartime Croatia, then governed by the pro-Nazi administration has been
condemned for decades for its treatment of the Jews. Yet, said Gleb,
Serbia's treatment of its Jewish population was even worse. But, until
Sedlar came along, Serbia had managed to conveniently whitewash its own
anti-Semitic past.
Sedlar is a remarkable man. Urbane and articulate, he's driven not just
by artistic endeavour, but by a search for truth.
"I fully admit Croatia's record during the Second World War was not one
of merit, but while accepting this, I also believe that fault on all
sides needs to be exposed in the name of justice and history."
With the coming to Croatia of democracy and freedom from Serb-dominated
Communist Yugoslavia, Sedlar was able to produce his harrowing
documentary about the untold holocaust - the destruction of the Jewish
community in wartime Serbia under the Nazi-collaborationist government of
Serbian General Milan Nedic.
Kellerman's captivating voice eerily dominates the film - her tone can
best be described as that of a gentle sadness. It's a haunting film, for
sure.
The movie carefully details Serbia's anti-Semitic campaign: Jews were not
allowed to own a radio or even use a telephone. They couldn't visit the
theatre or cinema. That was just the beginning. As the war progressed,
Serbian police rounded up Jews for delivery to Nazi extermination camps.
For every captured Jew, Serbian police received a cash bounty. Belgrade
was actually the first city in Europe to be declared JUDENFREI - free of
Jews. Nedic's government passed a law declaring all Jewish property was
now the property of Serbs.
The footage in THE UNTOLD HOLOCAUST is graphic, and so well documented
it's hard to understand how this ugly secret could be hidden for so long.
Kellerman provides the reason, "The answer is the oldest one of all," she
says, "the victors write the history."
When Josip Tito's Serb-dominated Communists took over power at the end of
the war it was convenient for them to cast Croatia as the fascist state
and whitewash Serbia of its own Nazi past.
Not only Croatian patriots such as Sedlar are now speaking out. Dr.
Philip J. Cohen, a prominent Maryland doctor and historian, recently
complained to ABC News about its one-sided coverage.
"As a Jew," he wrote, "I detest Ustasha and I detest its memory. However
to brand the Croatian people with the Ustasha label is an unjustified
oversimplification."
Cohen says while Croatia's infamous concentration camp at Jasenovac is
often cited in the media, Serbia's equally infamous death camps at
Jabuka, Sajmiste and Jajinci have until now been conveniently forgotten.
It's time, insists Cohen, to recognize that Serbia, today so intent on
the genocide of the Muslim population of Bosnia-Herzegovina, participated
"zealously" in the European holocaust of the Jews.
For himself, Zlatan Gelb told me that under the democratically elected
government, Croatia's Jewish population is today "protected like a bear
in winter."
Gleb, ironically, wrote his masters' of science thesis in communications
by comparing TV coverage of the Calgary and Sarajevo Olympics.
THE UNTOLD HOLOCAUST is a tragic film, but one that should force more
people to face up to hidden demons.

Engl. Version (German below)
1905: Marie, a young prostitute dwells together with Grete, her pregnant colleague, and some other whores at the brothel on the outskirts of town. Marie's encounters with johns have many faces; notorious bon vivants, an old man who brings cake from his wife, and Count Albin, a lofty gentleman whose behavior is very strange. Before Marie sleeps with him, she must tie a blue band with white dots around her thigh. The next day she encounters the Count shopping with his twelve year old daughter, Anna. It's apparent that Anna who wears a blue band with white dots in her hair is afraid of her father. Marie is deeply touched by Anna's emotional state which provokes her curiosity about the child...

Deutsche Version:

Hajduk Split was founded in the famous, centuries old pub Flek in Prague (then also a part of Austro-Hungarian Empire) by a group of students from Split (Fabijan Kaliterna, Lucijan Stella, Ivan Šakić and Vjekoslav Ivanišević). They went to the pub right after the match between Sparta and Slavia and decided it was high time their own town founded it's professional club. They all knew how popular the sport was back home, and how well their friends back home played. The club was officially registered with the authorities on February 13, 1911 and is, thus, the oldest football club in Croatia. The name originates from the [hajduk]]s, romanticized bandits that fought the Ottoman Turks.
Hajduk gathered the pro-Croat party of citizens of Split, Croat unionists or puntari. That's why the club specifically has the name "hrvatski nogometni klub" (Croatian football club) and has Croat coat-of-arms in its logo. The club itself was a protest against the Austro-Hungarian government's policy of not allowing the unification of Croatian provinces and keeping them separated (the government and the emperor didn't allow reunion of Dalmatia with the rest of Croatia). Hajduk reached its first period of glory in late twenties, when it won two Yugoslav championships, breaking the domination of clubs from Belgrade and Zagreb. Particularly interesting is the club's war episode. After Italian occupation of Split, club ceased to compete in defiance, and declined the offer to join the Italian first division. In 1944, team and staff clandestinely joined Yugoslav partisans on the island Vis and continued to play as an official partisan army team. After the war episode, partisan leader and later president of Yugoslavia, Tito, (impressed by the club's proficency and it's unique Dalmatian spirit) invited Hajduk to move to Belgrade and become an official army team. But, players refused the lucrative offer and continued playing in their hometown. The club, however, continued to be Tito's favorite long after the war.
Hajduk had its best years in the 1970s. The so-called "zlatna generacija" (Golden Generation) won five consecutive cups and three championships in the 1972 to 1979 period. It was the second most succsessful club in Yugoslavia far outstripping the third, it's present day rival, Dinamo Zagreb.
The Hajduk kit is white shirt and blue shorts.
Hajduk won two Yugoslav (kingdom) championships, seven Yugoslav championships, eight Croatian championships, as well as nine Yugoslav Cup titles, four Croatian Cups and six super cups.
Abroad, the club has reached the quarterfinals of the Champions Cup (now UEFA Champions League) three times (last time 1995), and two European semifinals: of Cup of cup's winners 1973, and UEFA cup 1984.
Hajduk is famous for its good youth school. It is one of the most prolific producers of high quality footballers which often continue careers in famous European teams. Some of Hajduk's former players include: Alen Bokšić (ex Juventus, Middlesbrough), Robert Jarni (ex Juventus, Real Madrid), Slaven Bilić (ex Karlsruhe, Everton), Igor Štimac (ex West Ham),Milan Rapaić (Standard Liege), Igor Tudor (Juventus), Ivica Šurjak (ex Paris SG), Luka Peruzović (ex Anderlecht), Aljoša Asanović, Ivica Buljan (ex Hamburger SV) and Zlatko Vujović (ex Bordeaux).
When the Croatian national team won third place at the 1998 World Cup in France, amongst the first 11, there were 5 former Hajduk players.
Since 1979, Hajduk plays at the Poljud stadium. It was built by the Yugoslavian federal government for the 1979 Mediterranean games that were held in Split. Thanks to lavish federal funding the stadium is quite impressive, not so much in size (though it is large) as it is in architecture, having one of the most unique and beautiful designs in the world at the time of it's construction. Before that, Hajduk played it's games at the "Kod stare plinare" stadium ("By the old gas facility"), also known as "Stari plac" ("Old Square") or "Staro Hajdukovo" ("Old Hajduk's"). Before the transformation that area into the football pitch, the area was known as "Kraljeva njiva" ("King's Field") and it was part of a military camp.
The fans are called Torcida (since 1950) as they took their name after their idolized Brazilian fan groups, which are named torcidas, from the Portuguese 'torcer', to cheer on. Supporters popularly call players of Hajduk bili (plural form of white in local dialect of the Croatian language) and are the oldest organized supporters' group in Europe.
Hajduk is by far the most popular sport team in the Croatian region of Dalmatia. Hajduk also has a strong fan base throughout the rest of Croatia, especially in littoral areas, as well as in Slavonia. Hajduk is also a very important part of the region's identity.
In the former Yugoslavia, Hajduk was the team that had supporters all over the country, among all national and religious communities (not only among the Croats); no other club achieved that. It is important to mention the big popularity of Hajduk among Albanians in socialist Yugoslavia, especially on Kosovo, where popularity of Hajduk can be compared with the one in Dalmatia.
Outside of Croatia, Hajduk also has many supporters throughout the rest of the world. It is said that Hajduk has never played a single game anywhere in the world without at least a small group of Torcida in the stands. Countries with huge fan clubs membership include Chile, New Zealand, Australia and Canada - mostly countries with significant Croat immigration from Dalmatia

Jury / adjudicators: POP Star Lucy Diakovska from No Angels ,Vili Kazasian, Philip / Filip Kirkorov, Esil Duran...Lucy Diakovska is Bulgarian. The No Angels are an ECHO Award-winning all-female pop group from Germany. Originally a quintet, the group originated in 2000 on the international television talent show Popstars and was one of the first "casting acts" to enjoy a great deal of success throughout Central Europe in the early 2000s. Following a major success with record-breaking single "Daylight in Your Eyes" and debut album Elle'ments in 2001, a series of hit records established their position as one of the most successful female band vocalists to emerge in the early-to mid decade. They have since been ranked as the "biggest-selling German girlband to date" by the media,[1] with four number-one hits, three number-one albums and record sales in excess of 5.0 million.[1]
In fall 2003, the members announced their official disbandment due to "exhaustion,"[2] focusing on their individual solo careers in music, theatre, television and film. However, on January 31, 2007, it was confirmed that four members of the original line-up (including Nadja Benaissa, Lucy Diakovska, Sandy Mölling and Jessica Wahls) had re-formed and were recording their first studio album in over four years, and in April 2007 the band's fourth studio album, Destiny was released.
The group will represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade, Serbia, on May 24, 2008.[3] (Less)
