Find an end to the story. But don't go straight into the chase; give the viewer time to tune into the characters involved. As with exercise 1, this is in two parts: the storyboard and the video. Everybody should do his or her own chase storyboard, then the group will choose one of them for the shoot. Try to change production roles from the first single camera exercise. The director, of course, is the author of the storyboard that the group chooses. Storyboards are to be handed in on 3rd September and the videos will be reviewed on Saturday 15th September. Think carefully about the first shot; it should set your story line, but remember to intrigue before you inform. Build your chase sequence with at least 10 shots before the conclusion. Think about varying shot sizes and continuity of action and direction between shots. Your last shot is just as important as your first. Like the opening shot, the last shot should be visually intriguing and, unless your story is meant to be a cliffhanger, it should give closure. Consider where your story fits in a longer programme; is it part of a longer drama, if so, what was the sequence and shot before? Or does your story stand on its own, as filler for Crime Prevention? Or is it the winner of a short video competition that is being featured in a longer magazine programme; if so, how does your studio presenter introduce your story? Be prepared to answer these questions during the review. You have 8 hours to shoot this exercise. To avoid lighting problems, I suggest you shoot during the day. If you decide to shoot overnight the equipment must be returned punctually at nine the next morning. Weekend bookings are from 12 noon on Saturday to Monday morning at nine. Do a recce of places to shoot prior to your shoot time. Book at least six batteries for your on-location production, although you should try to use AC power wherever possible. If you wish, you may also check out a battery charger. Anticipate problems, and have a plan ready to cope with rain. The director of each group should compile a list of names and production roles by the review date. If you are the director, remember to make a copy of your storyboard, before you hand in your original script. (Less)

World Wrestling Entertainment WWE is completely organized, and they set up ALL of their matches brilliantly. You know who is wrestling who, and why they are wrestling. There is always a great build up to the matches. And by the time the wrestlers go head to head, you r pumped, and ready to watch it. The first part involving setting um up is great. The next part involving them knocking it down is where they fall off. Compared to other wrestling promotions the W W E in ring work is slow and boring. Along with that, the winners are almost always predictable. You can hope and hope for a guy like Jeff Hardy to win a world title, but in the end you know even before seeing the match that he will lose. W W E gets you all jacked up for a great match, and then they don't deliver. They get fans excited about the possibility of a big win by one of their favorites, and then in the end they almost always let you down by having him lose. When everything is perfect for them to win. They are too predictable, don't follow the emotions of the fans, and their very well put together story lines most of the time insults the intelligence of the viewer. THEY ARE ALSO ALL ABOUT DOLLARS! 2. Total Non-Stop Action (wrestling) TNA, has the best in ring action of any american wrestling promotion thats ON TELEVISION. In this category they are miles ahead of WWE. With TNA you get great matches not only in the pay per views, but also on Impact. Most of the times TNA follows the momentum built up from great matches, and gives the fans more. A perfect example of this was the Awesome Kong Gail Kim match that tore the house down on their last pay per view. Gail Kim and Awesome Kong were rewarded with the main event match on Impact, the next week, while the fans were treated to another great contest. For the most part TNA also listens to their fans. Proof of this can be seen in what's happening with AJ Styles. A lot of fans complained about AJ working under Christian Cage in the Christian coalition, so TNA answered those complaints by moving Styles under Kurt Angle instead. Having great matches on television and pay per view, as well as listening to whut the fans want, is what's good about T NA. The problem with TNA is that story lines and booking make absolutely no sense. There is a lack of direction in almost everything they do. The fans complain about this, and former wrestlers that write columns agree that this is a problem. You can watch a TNA program, and when it goes off you will be thinking, "what the hell just happened?" There were great matches but why was he wrestling him, and where is this story going?? TNA does a poor job of setting up matches and pay per views, while also starting to irritate fans with boring backstage segments. They are losing touch with what their fans want to watch, and losing what their name stands for. TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION!!! So, basically both companies have their strengths and weaknesses. Lee Thompson Dominique Sanda Fernando Rey Jerry Goldsmith film noir adventure beautiful Mexican location quirky characters Mexico Casablanca score post war Peru Cabo Blanco The gorgeous coastal town used in Caboblanco was in fact once a favorite retreat of members of a corrupt Mexican regime. The deluxe hilltop mansion, the thatched hotel-bar that Bronson's character runs, palapas lined up at the water's edge, a bare-bones, dingy police office, and so forth: you can't ask for a more convincing backdrop for this tale of international skullduggery. Caboblanco also gets points for Bronson's spot-on portrayal of an ex-pate living in Mexico because he probably can't go home, the complex and riveting performance by Fernando Rey, and for filling out the cast with several supporting players in a non-linear presentation. There is a denouement at the end, but the film's mood and pacing are not obvious in working to that conclusion. In other words, Caboblanco succeeds in making a viewer feel he/she is eavesdropping on lives in progress. Admittedly, this is a piece of entertainment, but it strives for something more, and it is NOT an imitation of Casablanca, by a long shot. Director J. Lee Thompson and actor Charles Bronson always made an interesting team, and this particular effort was the last one I needed to see. Compared with most of their collaborations in the 80s, this is a diamond in the rough and quite an off-kilter, old-fashion adventure / mystery story that sets out to be intriguing and creates a nice feel of the times, than anything relying on Bronson handing out nasty punishment. Well on that point, the violence when it does eventuate is surprisingly brutal, if quick and too the point. When it happens, it comes from nowhere. However Bronson is given a chance to spread his wings, and act with confidence and stalwart appeal. It's a terrifically surly, down-played performance by Chuck in a suitable heroine role. Working off Bronson is a tremendously solid cast. Jason Robards' is subtly powerful in a fine turn and Fernando Rey's sly style always amuses. Dominique Sanda displays a potently classy presence. The support cast rounding it off are just as good with Simon Mac Corkindale, Dennis Millar, Clifton James and Camilla Sparv. Looming from the presentation is a film-noir tone, and I don't really get the 'Casablanca' references (from it being a rip-off to an unfunny spoof) made about it. There's no denying it's rather talky though, but the script is involving and smartly weaved together. This works due to the screenplay having a busy (if muddled) plot and still keeping a breezy (almost brooding) air to it. Some contrived, and convenient actions occur, and the drama can seem a little uncertain. But it never becomes a worry. Also how they used the breathtakingly erotic Mexican backdrop in the action was accordingly staged and well-framed. Talk about nice sight seeing. The swirling, wide-screen camera-work had that ability to capture that organic sense of place, although the underwater shots came off terribly murky. Thompson's direction is undoubtedly workman-like, slow and effective on a much larger scale, despite the dreary look to its visual styling. Jerry Goldsmith's rousing melancholic score is picture-perfect. Everything boils up to an thrilling climax, as the calmness makes way for a stormy (literally) confrontations of two men, who share something in common, but how they go about things are entirely different. They have a past they like to forget, and this is their chance for that to happen and put away that lingering fear of something catching up. One of Bronson's interestingly obscure oddities, which unjustly flopped and deserves an audience.
